【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a display device, and is suitable for use in a vehicle or the like.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, for example, in a display device mounted on an automobile, a dial design is illuminated and displayed by transmitted illumination in order to secure novel visibility.
[0003]
2. Description of the Related Art In a conventional display device, for example, a display device mounted on an automobile, a plate-shaped light guide made of a transparent material, for example, a transparent acrylic resin or the like is formed on the back side of a dial having a design portion to be illuminated with a dial. The design portion is illuminated by transmitting light from a light source disposed in parallel to the dial and entering the light guide to emit light in a planar manner. The light source is disposed so as to emit light in a direction perpendicular to the dial, while the light guide is provided with a reflecting surface, and the reflecting surface allows the light traveling direction from the light source to enter the light guide. Is turned 90 degrees, that is, turned in a direction substantially parallel to the dial, and reflected toward the back, which is the surface of the light guide opposite to the dial, and this reflected light is reflected on the dial by the back. The dial is reflected toward it to illuminate the dial. (For example, see Patent Document 1).

[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the above-described conventional display device, the incident angle of light from the light source on the reflection surface of the light guide is about 45 degrees. Here, the total reflection angle of the acrylic resin is 47 degrees or more. Therefore, much of the light from the light source that has entered the reflecting surface of the light guide can be reflected toward the back surface of the light guide.
[0006]
However, in general, light from a light source is distributed within a certain range around the optical axis. Therefore, when the incident angle of the light from the light source, that is, the light on the optical axis to the reflecting surface of the light guide is 45 degrees, that is, when the incident angle of the optical axis is 45 degrees, some of the light from the light source is reflected. The light is transmitted from the surface to the outside of the light guide, that is, the transmitted light is not used for illuminating the dial and is lost.
[0007]
Furthermore, in the conventional display device, the reflected light on the back surface of the light guide, particularly, the emission angle of the reflected light of the high illuminance light near the optical axis becomes large, in other words, the angle formed between the reflected light and the dial is small. Become. For this reason, the reflected light is deviated from the direction in which the dial is viewed, and there is a problem that the use efficiency of light from the light source for dial illumination is reduced.
[0008]
Accordingly, the present invention has been made in view of the above-described problems, and has been devised with a method of illuminating a dial of a display device, mainly a configuration of a light guide, and a display that can obtain high light use efficiency from a high light source. It is intended to provide a device.

In a display device according to a seventh aspect of the present invention, the light source is a light emitting diode, and the plurality of electrodes of the light emitting diode are disposed on the same plane, and the optical axis of the light emitting diode is provided to be inclined with respect to the plane. It has a configuration. In general, in a display device, a printed circuit board on which a light source is mounted is installed on the back side of the dial in parallel with the dial. On the other hand, an optical axis which is a light emitting direction in a surface mount type light emitting diode is usually formed perpendicular or parallel to the surface of a printed circuit board, that is, a plane on which a plurality of (for example, two) electrodes of the light emitting diode are arranged. ing. Therefore, in order to make the optical axis direction of the light source, that is, the light emitting diode, parallel to the back surface of the light guide that is arranged to be inclined with respect to the dial, in other words, to incline with respect to the dial (printed circuit board), The number of components, such as mounting on a printed circuit board via an appropriate spacer, or mounting on a printed circuit board after bending leads in advance so that the optical axis of the light emitting diode is in a predetermined direction using a lead type light emitting diode, etc. This leads to an increase in the number of assembling steps. On the other hand, according to the display device described in

The display device according to
[0018]
A display device according to a tenth aspect of the present invention has a configuration in which a diffuse reflection layer is formed on the back surface, which is the surface of the light guide opposite to the dial. This makes it possible to efficiently reflect the light from the light source traveling in the light guide toward the dial side, and to make the illuminance of the surface-emitting light guide uniform.
