Abstract
Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a registration adjustment method for an ink jet recording apparatus.
[0002]
[Prior art]
There is a type that uses a full-line type recording head in the inkjet recording device. In this method, high-speed and high-quality recording is possible by preparing an image by preparing the ink ejection port of the recording head by the width of the recording paper. It is. When a color image is formed by arranging a plurality of individual recording heads, at least four recording heads of K (black), C (cyan), M (magenta), and Y (yellow) are required, and each of them is required. The registration correction between the recording heads must be performed so that the ink droplets ejected from the recording heads overlap at the optimum position on the recording paper.
[0003]
In registration correction (hereinafter referred to as registration correction), during the manufacture of the apparatus, registration correction data is created by measuring the position of each recording head, and image formation is performed using this data.
[0004]
However, due to changes in the recording head or vibration during transportation of the device, the registration correction data at the time of manufacturing cannot be used continuously, and the user outputs a registration correction pattern according to a change in the situation, and the correction data is output. For example, a means such as inputting was input.
[0005]
In order to perform registration correction without the assistance of the user, a CCD line sensor at the most downstream of a plurality of recording heads is provided, and by selecting an automatic registration correction function, a means such as completion of registration correction is adopted. Had been.
[0006]
On the other hand, in recent years, the speed UP of the printing time has been eagerly desired, and the conveying speed of the recording paper has been increased.
[0007]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the above configuration, the recording paper is transported at high speed using a transport belt or the like, and an image is formed. Also at the time of registration adjustment, it is desirable that the conveyance speed of the recording paper for printing the test pattern is the same as that at the time of normal image formation.
[0008]
However, it is difficult for the CCD line sensor located at the most downstream of a plurality of print heads to change the accumulation time of the CCD extremely short. Is very slow with respect to the transport speed of
[0009]
As an example, assuming that the accumulation time of the CCD is 10 mS and the transport speed of the recording paper is A4 at 60 sheets / min, the apparent sampling rate is about 10 dpi at intervals of 2 mm.
[0010]
In other words, only an extremely coarse detection accuracy can be obtained, and a registration adjustment test pattern constituted by arranging fine lines cannot be read.
[0011]
However, as is known in the related art, there is a method in which a similar pattern is formed by each of two recording heads, and several types of fine adjustment registration detection patterns are printed while slightly shifting their positions. Kaihei 11-291479 etc.). By using this pattern, even if the detection accuracy is extremely coarse, it is possible to detect the relative displacement between the two recording heads within one dot. However, since it is necessary to prepare a pattern in which the printing position is shifted by one dot by the estimated maximum shift amount, there is a problem that the printing area increases.
[0012]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to overcome the above-mentioned problems, a rough adjustment is performed in advance, and the estimated maximum shift amount is narrowed, so that an adjustment pattern with an appropriate print area can be detected.
[0013]
Here, it is desired that the amount of drive-in of the maximum deviation amount in the coarse adjustment is about ± 5 pixels. Above this, a large number of test patterns must be printed.
[0014]
In the present invention, it is possible to accurately measure the registration correction amount by starting to form a test pattern in synchronization with the accumulation time interval of the CCD in order to improve the accuracy of the registration deviation amount in the coarse adjustment. Become.
[0015]
By setting the test pattern for coarse adjustment of registration deviation to be at least three times the accumulation time of the CCD, the registration correction amount can be accurately measured.
[0016]

[0026]
These recording heads can apply heat to the ink by a heater or the like. The ink causes film boiling due to the heat, and the pressure change caused by the growth or shrinkage of bubbles due to the film boiling causes the ink to be ejected from the nozzles to form an image on the recording paper P.

In the drawing, the acquired data is represented as 100 when the test pattern is below the CCD line sensor during the sampling period T (solid black). In (1), since the acquired data is 75, 100, 100, 25 in order, it can be seen that the acquired data is shifted from the CCD sampling period T.

In order to detect the amount of registration deviation, in this case, acquired data having a value of 100 for three pixels is searched, and (3) in the figure corresponds to this.
[0041]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, even when the transport speed is increased and the sampling rate of the CCD is reduced, the registration deviation amount can be detected by using the rough adjustment detection test pattern.
[0042]
Further, the registration deviation amount can be detected without performing a complicated calculation such as the center of gravity calculation method.
