Abstract
Description
【0001】
本発明は、ハイシリコンアルミニウム合金、MMC(Metal Matrix Composite:金属基複合材料)、FRM(Fiber Reinforced Material)などの難削材の精密切削加工に用いられるダイヤモンドバイトに関するものである。
【0002】

関係式 cosθ=(a−h)/a

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a diamond tool used for precision cutting of difficult-to-cut materials such as high silicon aluminum alloy, MMC (Metal Matrix Composite), and FRM (Fiber Reinforced Material).
[0002]
[Prior art]
A single-crystal diamond tool in which a single-crystal diamond is bonded to a base metal and bonded to a holder, wherein the crystal orientation of a flank is a (11X) plane, and the crystal orientation of a rake face is a (101) plane and a (011) plane. Is known. This tool appears to be made using cleavage, but arcuate cutting edges cannot be made using cleavage. The purpose of this tool is a diamond tool that can continuously perform mirror finishing of hard and brittle materials such as silicon. However, this tool has the following disadvantages. As shown in FIG. 3, when cutting the diamond tip by moving the diamond tip in the direction of the arrow, the

For example, when processing a V-groove type optical disc master (pitch: about 2 μm, cutting distance: 40 km), this cutting tool is a diamond cutting tool capable of obtaining a surface shape with required accuracy expected for a long time without causing minute wear of the cutting edge. is there. However, it does not include a technical idea of setting the surface of the single crystal diamond at the portion where boundary wear occurs to the (111) plane (for example, see Patent Document 2).

FIG. 1,
[0005]
Recently, in the field of machining, there has been an increasing demand for precision machining of difficult-to-cut materials. Above all, a tool for precision machining generally uses an arc-shaped cutting edge which can easily control the tool precisely. On the other hand, from the viewpoint of wear resistance, an ideal tool among single crystal diamond tools is a tool having a (111) plane as a flank. However, the (111) plane is considered to be the hardest plane among the diamond crystals, the cost for processing into a bite is extremely high, and has not been practically used in industry. An object of the present invention is to provide a single-crystal diamond tool having high abrasion resistance and effectively using the (111) plane.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The tool of the present invention is a single-crystal diamond cutting tool having a single-crystal diamond tip, the single-crystal diamond tip having a cutting edge formed on a rake face and a ridge of a flank, and the cutting edge is a part of an arc. A single-crystal diamond tool, which is formed, has a <11X> direction of diamond with an angle of 10 to 60 degrees as an angle θ from the center line of the arc on the rake face, and has a flank formed by laser processing. is there.
[0007]
Another invention is a method for manufacturing a single crystal diamond bite, which includes a step of preparing a single crystal diamond material, a step of determining an arc center of the material, and a step of specifying the orientation of <11X> on a rake face. Cutting the single-crystal diamond material by a laser with an arc having a radius a from the center of the arc, with the centerline being an azimuth rotated by 10 to 60 degrees as an angle θ from the azimuth <11X> through the center of the arc. And Among these steps, there is no problem even if the order of the step of determining the center of the circular arc is different from the step of specifying the orientation of <11X> on the rake face. Usually, a step of polishing a rake face, a step of brazing a single crystal diamond material onto a base metal, and a step of fixing the base metal to a tool body are also performed. These steps can be combined in the production method of the present invention in an appropriate order. Further, after the step of cutting the single crystal diamond material by the laser, a step of polishing the cut surface by the laser may be added.
[0008]
In the present invention, the cutting edge is a part of an arc. With this configuration, calculation for specifying the position of the cutting edge is facilitated, which is preferable in performing precision machining. Also, the processing of the tool is not a non-linear cutting edge, so that the tool can be easily manufactured. The center line of the arc is a line that typically passes through the center of the arc and is orthogonal to the tool feed direction.
[0009]
Next, the reason why the azimuth of <11X> is rotated by an angle θ of 10 to 60 degrees with respect to the center line will be described. Diamond crystals are anisotropic. Among them, the (111) surface is the hardest surface and therefore the surface that is least worn. This surface is intended to extend the life of the cutting tool in accordance with the portion where the boundary wear occurs, which is the most abraded portion of the tool. Boundary wear generally occurs at the initial contact between the workpiece and the tool, that is, near the contact start point. Therefore, the portion where boundary wear occurs is related to the radius of the arc and the cut. The size of θ is preferably in the range of 10 to 60 degrees in order to minimize the fluctuation of the actual cut and the calculated cut. The reason why θ is set to 10 degrees or more is that the position of the contact start point does not change much even if the cutting depth changes. Further, the reason why the angle is set to 60 degrees or less is that in the case of a small cut, the boundary wear departs from a portion having high wear resistance. More preferably, it is 20 to 45 degrees. The direction in which θ is measured is the direction in which the chip moves from the center line.
[0010]
As described above, since the (111) plane cannot be polished, the flank is formed by laser processing in order to achieve the present invention. This processing includes cutting or polishing. With a normal laser, the cut surface or the like changes from diamond to graphite, and the surface needs to be further polished. Even if it is polished, the (111) plane cannot be polished, and a highly precise flank cannot be produced.
[0011]
In the present invention, a laser having a wavelength of 1000 nm or less is used to cut the intermolecular force of the diamond crystal. The YAG laser has a high energy at a short wavelength and can be focused by a lens, so that a deteriorated layer hardly occurs or can be removed. Among the lasers that are currently in practical use, particularly preferred is the case of using a YAG laser with a third harmonic and a wavelength of 355 nm. In this case, the laser is used as a tool as it is, without cutting, with almost no altered layer of diamond. Available.
[0012]
One of the major features of the present invention is that it has been found that the use of the above-mentioned laser does not practically generate a deteriorated layer of diamond which is usually caused by heating by the laser, or that the deteriorated layer can be practically removed. Therefore, the flank formed by the laser described above may be a flank by the cut surface itself depending on conditions such as a cutting condition and a laser wavelength to be used, or may require laser polishing again after cutting. In any case, a laser mark having a surface roughness of about 0.5 μm in Ry defined by JIS remains on the flank. Since such a trace does not occur by ordinary mechanical polishing, it can be relatively easily confirmed that the laser processing is performed.
[0013]
The flank in the present invention has a clearance angle and has a laser streak trace in the longitudinal direction along the flank. It is desirable that the surface roughness of the flank due to the trace is 0.05 to 1.0 μm in Ry defined by JIS. More preferably, it is 0.1 to 0.5 μm. It is considered that the reason why the streak-like laser mark is generated is related to the laser beam feeding, but it was consistent with the direction of the laser beam.
[0014]
It is preferable that the rake face of the single crystal diamond chip is the (112) plane, the (101) plane, and the (011) plane. This crystal plane is a plane orthogonal to the (11X) plane, and is desirable because the flow of the chips is smooth and the wear of the cutting blade is small. However, it goes without saying that the plane index and the plane orientation of the crystal used in the present invention are merely examples and can be applied to equivalent lattice planes.
In the present invention, X in the <11X> direction and the (11X) plane indicates the following

The value of h satisfies the following equation:
Relational expression cos θ = (a−h) / a
Here, a is the radius of the cutting edge, and h is the calculated cutting depth. From this equation, the magnitude of the angle variation can be calculated with respect to the cut variation, and the optimum angle can be set.

(Example 1)
A tool body and a base metal made of cemented carbide were prepared. Next, a single crystal diamond chip was prepared. It was a flat plate having a thickness of 0.8 mm and a size of approximately 2.5 mm square. The single crystal diamond can be used either naturally or artificially, but the artificial one is stable in quality and easy to determine the plane orientation of the crystal.
[0020]
The single crystal diamond tip was brazed to a processing jig to produce a diamond tip having a shape shown in FIG. The rake face was the polished (101) face of single crystal diamond, the
[0021]
Specifically, cutting and polishing were performed with a laser by the method described below. A single crystal diamond material serving as a cutting blade was set in a laser beam machine, and cut by irradiating a laser beam. The laser position was fixed, and cutting was performed by feeding a diamond. The processing feed speed was 1 mm / min. Next, the diamond was fed with the laser beam irradiated without changing the position of the diamond, and the flank was polished on the side surface of the laser beam. In this polishing process, diamond was continuously fed so that the laser beam passed along the same path until no processing noise was recognized.
[0022]
The laser beam used in this embodiment is a laser whose wavelength is in the ultraviolet range. The laser in the ultraviolet region has a function of cutting the diamond crystal molecules, is not affected by the crystal orientation, and has little diamond that has been altered on the processed surface, that is, almost no layer has been altered on the processed surface. The laser used was a third harmonic of a YAG laser having a wavelength of 1065 nm, the wavelength was 355 nm, and the focal length of the lens was 75 mm.

As a comparative example, diamond was pressed against and polished while free abrasive grains were flowing through a polishing machine. In this method, a single crystal diamond has anisotropy, so that there is a difference in polishing characteristics, and furthermore, since the operation depends on the skill and intuition of the operator, a stable and high-precision one cannot be obtained. 【The invention's effect】
The present invention can provide a cutting tool excellent in wear resistance by arranging the (11X) plane of single crystal diamond in a direction rotated by an angle θ of 10 to 60 degrees from the center line. By making the cutting edge a part of the arc, it is easy to manufacture a tool, and the position of the tool can be accurately calculated so that ultra-precision machining becomes easy. By using a YAG laser having a wavelength of 1000 nm or less, it is possible to form an excellent cutting edge having almost no altered layer of diamond when single crystal diamond is cut or polished.
