【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は2次元的に配列された複数のX線検出素子を有したX線診断装置に係り、特に空間分解能に優れた拡大撮影を可能にするX線診断装置及びX線撮影方法に関する。

【従来の技術】
X線診断装置やMRI装置あるいはX線CT装置などを用いた医用画像診断技術は、1970年代のコンピュータ技術の発展に伴い急速な進歩を遂げ、今日の医療において必要不可欠なものとなっている。

X線診断装置に用いられる検出素子として、従来はX線フィルムや図9(a)に示したI.I.(イメージ・インテンシファイア)が使用されてきた。即ち、図9(a)はI.I.203を用いたX線診断装置の概略を示す図であり、このI.I.203を用いたX線撮像方法ではX線管200から発生したX線をX線絞り器201を介して被検体206に照射し、このとき被検体206を透過して得られるX線の画像情報をX線検出器202のI.I.203によって光学画像に変換する、更に、この光学画像をX線TVカメラ204によって撮影し、電気信号に変換して得られたX線画像データはA/D変換後、図示しないTVモニタに表示していた。このため、I.I.203を用いた撮影方法では、フィルム方式では出来なかったリアルタイム撮影を可能とし、また、デジタル信号で画像データの収集ができるため、種々の画像処理を可能とした。

このようなX線診断装置において、X線検出器202によって検出される画像情報から所定の領域を拡大して表示する場合、図9(a)に示すI.I.203を用いたX線検出器202では、I.I.203に投影される光学画像の所定の領域をX線TVカメラ204によって拡大撮影を行う。このとき、X線TVカメラ204が有するCCD画素を用いて、拡大すべき前記領域の画像情報を電気信号に変換するため、1枚のX線画像データを構成する画素数は、X線TVカメラ204のCCDが有する有効画素数(水平画素数×垂直画素数)によって決定され、画像の拡大率に関係なく常に一定となる。従って、拡大撮影においてX線画像の空間分解能を改善することが可能であった。

一方、I.I.203を用いたX線診断装置に替わるものとして近年、2次元配列のX線平面検出器(以下平面検出器)が大きな注目を集め、その一部は既に実用化の段階に入っている。この平面検出器を用いた装置では、X線画像情報を直接電気信号に変換しているため、画質性能や安定性の面での大幅向上が期待されている。

図9(b)は平面検出器205を用いた標準撮影と拡大撮影を示したものであり、X線管200から放射されたX線は、X線絞り器201を介して被検体206に照射され、この被検体206を透過したX線は、X線検出器202に照射される。

平面検出器202では、照射されたX線量に比例した電荷(以下信号電荷とよぶ)が2次元に配列された検出素子の夫々に蓄積され、この蓄積された信号電荷はスイッチング機能を有するTFT(薄膜トランジスタ)を介して順次信号出力線に読み出される構成になっている(例えば、特許文献1参照。)。

更に、信号出力線に出力された信号電荷は電荷・電圧変換器を介してA/D変換器にてデジタル信号に変換され、X線画像データとして画像データ記憶回路に保存された後、表示部にて表示される。なおA/D変換されたX線画像信号は、種々の画像処理や複数画像間のサブトラクション処理なども容易に行うことが可能となる。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、平面検出器202を用いたX線診断装置による拡大撮影は、従来のI.I.203を用いた場合と比較して空間分解能があまり改善されないという問題点が考えられる。即ち、図9(b)に示した平面検出器202を用いた拡大撮影においては、X線検出器202の平面検出器205が離散的な検出素子から構成されており、有効画素数及び画素の大きさが予め決定されている。従って、このようなX線検出器202によって得られた画像データをCRTモニタ等において拡大表示しても、画像情報は検出素子の素子幅によって量子化されているため、モザイク状の画像となり、空間分解能の向上が困難となる場合が考えられる。

本発明はこのような従来の平面検出器205を用いた撮影における問題点を解決するためになされたものであり、その目的は、拡大撮影において空間分解能の優れたX線画像の撮影を可能とするX線診断装置及びX線撮影方法を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記課題を解決するために、本発明のX線診断装置は、所定の方向にX線を照射するX線発生手段と、このX線発生手段によって照射されるX線を検出するX線検出手段と、このX線検出手段におけるX線検出器の検出面を前記X線照射方向に対して所定の角度に設定する検出器角度設定手段と、前記X線検出手段によって得られる検出信号からX線画像データを生成する画像生成手段とを備えたことを特徴としている。

従って本発明によれば、平面検出器を使用した場合の拡大撮影において、高い空間分解能を有したX線画像を得ることができる。

【発明の実施の形態】
(装置の構成)
本発明の実施の形態の構成につき図1及び図2を用いて説明する。但し、図1は本発明に係るX線診断装置全体の概略構成を示すブロック図であり、図2は本発明の実施の形態における平面検出器の構成を示す図である。

このX線診断装置100は、X線を被検体45に対して照射するX線発生部1と、被検体45を透過したX線を2次元的に検出するX線検出部2と、前記X線発生部1とX線検出部2を例えばCアームによって保持する保持アーム5と、前記被検体45を載せる寝台(天板)17とを備えている。

また、このX線診断装置100は、前記保持アーム5や寝台(天板)17の移動、X線検出部2の平面検出器21におけるグリッド20の着脱、あるいは前記平面検出器21の傾斜などを行う機構部3と、機構部3の各機構を制御する機構制御部6と、前記X線検出部2によってライン単位で検出されるX線画像データを画像として保存するとともに、この画像の歪や感度を補正する画像記憶・補正部7とを備えている。

X線発生部1は、被検体45に対しX線を放射するX線管15と、このX線管15から放射されたX線をコリメートするX線絞り器16を備えている。X線管15はX線を発生する真空管であり、陰極(フィラメント)より放出された電子を高電圧によって加速させてタングステン陽極に衝突させることによってX線を発生させる。一方、X線絞り器16は、X線管15と被検体45の間に位置し、拡大撮影の場合には、X線管15から放射されたX線ビームを拡大撮影領域のサイズに絞り込む機能を有している。

X線検出部2は、被検体45を透過したX線を電荷に変換して蓄積する平面検出器21と、この平面検出器21に蓄積された電荷をX線画像信号として読み出すためのゲートドライバ22と、読み出された電荷を画像データに変換する画像データ生成部11とを備えている。また、前記平面検出器21の前面には、被検体45において生ずる散乱X線の受信を防ぐためのグリッド20が配置されている。

平面検出器21は図2に示すように、微小な検出素子51−11、51−12、・・・51−21、51−22、・・・を列方向及びライン方向に2次元的に配列して構成されており、各々の検出素子51はX線を感知し、入射X線量に応じて電荷を生成する光電膜52と、この光電膜52に発生した電荷を蓄積する電荷蓄積コンデンサ53と、この電荷蓄積コンデンサ53に蓄積された電荷を所定のタイミングで読み出すTFT(薄膜トランジスタ)54を備えている。以下では説明を簡単にするために、例えば、検出素子51が列方向(図2の上下方向)、及びライン方向(図2の左右方向)に2素子づつ配列されている場合の平面検出器21の構成について説明する。

図2の光電膜52−11、52−12、52−21、52−22の第1の端子と、電荷蓄積コンデンサ53−11、53−12、53−21、53−22の第1の端子は接続され、更に、その接続点はTFT54−11、54−12、54−21、54−22のソース端子へ接続される。一方、光電膜52−11、52−12、52−21、52−22の第2の端子は、図示しないバイアス電源に接続され、電荷蓄積コンデンサ53−11、53−12、53−21、53−22の第2の端子は接地される。更に、ライン方向のTFT54−11及びTFT54−21のゲートはゲートドライバ22の出力端子22−1に接続され、また、TFT54−12、及びTFT54−22のゲートはゲートドライバ22の出力端子22−2に接続される。

高電圧発生部4は、X線管15の陰極から発生する熱電子を加速するために、陽極と陰極の間に印加する高電圧を発生させる。通常は、インバータ方式により80KW乃至100KWの大出力容量を有している。

操作部9はキーボード、各種スイッチ、マウス等を備えたインターラクティブなインターフェースであり、装置の操作者は操作部9において、撮影の各種条件や検査の開始、機構部3の移動制御などのコマンド信号を入力し、これらのコマンド信号はシステム制御部10を介して各ユニットに送られる。また、操作者は表示部8のCRTモニタ33に表示される標準X線画像に対して、拡大撮影用の関心領域(ROI)を設定することも可能である。

次に、図1乃至図8を用いて本実施の形態におけるX線診断装置の標準撮影、及び拡大撮影における撮影手順について説明する。但し、図8は本実施の形態における撮影手順のフローチャートを示す。

標準撮影に先立って装置操作者は、操作部9において標準撮影における種々の撮影条件を入力し、これらの撮影条件はシステム制御部10の記憶回路に保存される。次いで操作者は、システム制御部10、及び機構制御部6を介して保持アーム移動機構41、及び寝台移動機構44に対して指示信号を供給し、X線発生部1、及びX線検出部2に対して被検者45の撮影部位を最適な位置に設定する(図8のステップS1)。

次に、操作者は操作部9よりX線透過画像の標準撮影開始コマンドを入力し、このコマンドが操作部9よりシステム制御部10に供給されると、システム制御部10から駆動信号が高電圧発生部4に送られる(図8のステップS2)。この駆動信号によって発生する高電圧発生部4の出力電圧は、X線発生部1のX線管15に印加されて、X線管15は被検体45に対してパルスX線を放射する。そして、被検体45を透過したX線は、被検体45の後方に配置されるX線検出部2のグリッド20を介し、平面検出器21によって検出される。

図3において、平面検出器21はライン方向にM個、列方向にN個、2次元配列された検出素子51から構成されている。この平面検出器21において、ライン方向に配列されたM個の検出素子51のそれぞれの駆動端子(即ち、図2に示すTFT54のゲート端子)は共通接続され、ゲートドライバ22の出力端子に接続される。例えば、ゲートドライバ22の出力端子22−1は検出素子51−11、51−21、51−31、・・・51−M1の各駆動端子に接続され、ゲートドライバ22の出力端子22−Nは検出素子51−1N、51−2N、51−3N、・・・51−MNの各駆動端子に接続される。

(拡大撮影)
次に、拡大撮影における撮影手順について説明する。操作者は、前記標準撮影によって得られるX線画像を表示部8のCRTモニタ33において観察し、このX線画像に対して拡大撮影する領域を設定する(図8のステップS5)。即ち、操作者は、例えば操作部9のマウスを用いてCRTモニタ33に表示されているX線画像上に拡大撮影用の関心領域(ROI)を設定し、操作部9に備えられている操作パネル上で拡大撮影モードを選択する(図8のステップS6)。

システム制御部10は、操作者によって操作部9より入力された拡大撮影モードの選択信号と、拡大撮影領域に関する情報をシステム制御部10の記憶回路に保存する。次いで、この拡大撮影領域の情報、即ち拡大撮影領域のサイズに基づいてX線発生部1のX線絞り器16に対して制御信号を供給し、前記拡大撮影領域に効率よくX線ビームが照射されるように照射領域の設定を行う。

更に、システム制御部10のCPUは前記拡大撮影領域の情報から平面検出器21の傾斜角度を算出し、この算出結果に基づいた制御信号を機構制御部6を介して検出器傾斜機構43に送り、平面検出器21を所定角度(θ0)傾斜させる。また、この平面検出器21が斜めから入射するX線に対して十分な検出感度が得られるように、システム制御部10はグリッド着脱機構42に対して散乱X線排除用のグリッド20が不要であることを指示し、グリッド20はグリッド着脱機構42によって取り外される(図8のステップS7)。

(平面検出器の傾斜とその効果)
図5は、平面検出器21を使用したX線撮影の場合に、従来の拡大撮影において用いられるX線画像の画素数と、本実施の形態の拡大撮影において用いられるX線画像の画素数をX方向において比較したものである。例えば、X線管15から放射されるX線ビームの中心軸をZ軸とした場合、図5(a)に示した従来の拡大撮影では、前記Z軸に対して垂直なX−Y平面上に平面検出器21を配置し、被検体45の体軸に平行なY軸に対して垂直なX軸方向の撮影領域L1を、平面検出器21のX軸方向の最大有効画素数M1を用いて撮影する。

次いで、X線ビームを絞って撮影領域L2に対して拡大撮影する場合、用いられる平面検出器21の画素数M2と最大有効画素数M1の間にはM2/M1=L2/L1の関係が成り立ち、画素数M2は撮影領域L2に比例して減少する。また、Y軸方向においても同様な関係が成立し、例えば、従来の標準撮影においてM1×M1の画素を用いて撮影される1枚のX線画像は、拡大撮影によってM2×M2の画素によるX線画像となるため、モザイク状の量子化ノイズが発生するため画質が劣化する。

一方、図5(b)に示した本実施の形態における拡大撮影では、被検体45の体軸と平行なY軸を回転軸50として前記平面検出器21を回転させ、X−Y平面に対してθ0度傾斜させる。このように平面検出器21を傾斜させて用いることによって、被検体45の拡大撮影領域L2を透過するX線は、平面検出器21の最大有効画素M1によって検出されるため、平面検出器21にて使用される画素の減少を防ぐことが可能となる。

次に、X線画像のX軸方向の拡大率γと平面検出器21の傾斜角度(θ0)の関係を図6を用いて説明する。一般に、平面検出器21は被検体45に対して極めて接近して用いられるため、図5(b)のX線ビームは図6に示すような平行ビームによって近似することが可能である。従って、平面検出器21の傾斜角度θ0は

このように、本実施の形態において傾斜させた平面検出器21から得られるX線透過像は、上記の理由により拡大率が一様にならないために画像歪が発生する。図1の画像記憶・補正部7の画像補正回路12は、この画像歪を補正する機能を有しており、前記画像補正回路12は、傾斜した平面検出器21によって検出される被検体45のX線データを用いて画像データ生成部11にて生成されるX線画像データに対して、まず画像歪の補正処理を行う。例えば、図7(b)に示すように、拡大率の小さい平面検出器21の上辺48における各画素のデータを太矢印で示す外側の画素にシフトさせ、この画素データのシフトによって空いた画素には周囲の画素データを用いて補間処理を行った後、必要に応じてフィルタリング処理を行う。

このようにして、X線画像データの拡大率を一様にすることによって画像歪を補正する処理を終了したならば、次に、各画素のデータに対して感度補正を行う。X線ビームは、X線発生部1のX線管15からの距離の増大に伴って単位面積当たりのX線強度が減少する。従って、図6に示すように、有効撮影領域L3の平面検出器21をθ0度傾斜させた場合には、X線管15と平面検出器21のX方向における各変換素子との距離は異なるため、前記変換素子の検出感度に差異が生ずる。なお、この場合の最大距離差ΔRは近似的に、ΔR=L3sinθ0によって示され、平面検出器21から得られる最大感度差はこの最大距離差に基づいて発生する。

なお、感度差の補正に際して、システム制御部10のCPUは、傾斜角度(θ0)が算出された段階で、平面検出器21の有効撮影領域L3の大きさや前記傾斜角度情報に基づいて各変換素子51とX線管15の間の距離を算出し、その算出結果を画像記憶・補正部7の画像補正回路12に供給し、その記憶回路に保存しておくことが望ましい。

以上述べた本実施の形態によれば、平面検出器21を傾斜させて拡大撮影を行なうことによって、平面検出器21が有している画素を有効に用いることができる。このため、空間分解能に優れたX線画像を撮影することが可能となる。また、平面検出器21を傾斜させる方式は、後方に平行移動させる方式と比較して、平面検出器21を被検体45に対して接近させた状態で撮影できるため感度的にも有利であり、しかも簡単な機構によって実現することが可能となる。

以上、本発明の実施の形態について述べてきたが、本発明は上記の実施の形態に限定されるものでは無く、変形して実施することが可能である。例えば、本発明の実施の形態における画像歪補正、あるいは感度補正は、平面検出器21の個々の変換素子51を単位として行う場合について述べたが、平面検出器21のY軸方向に配列された検出素子51の列を単位として行なうことによって補正処理を簡単かつ短時間で行うことができる。
