本発明は、殺菌装置に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
従来から低圧水銀蒸気等にマイクロ波を照射して紫外線を放出させ、その紫外線を殺菌対象物に照射して殺菌処理を行う殺菌装置が提案されている。図12は従来例1として、例えば医療器具等の殺菌方法を示しており、一般的には医療器具は金属で構成されているため、電子レンジ(マイクロウェーブオーブン)等のマイクロ波発生装置の内部に直接収容することはできない。そこで、水を満たした容器151中に低圧水銀蒸気を封入したガラス製のバルブ152と殺菌対象物153(医療器具)を配置し、容器151を電子レンジ150の内部に収容する。そして、電子レンジ150を起動してマイクロ波を発生させ、マイクロ波をバルブ152に照射する。すると、バルブ152中の水銀蒸気がマイクロ波のエネルギーによって励起され、バルブ152から所定波長の紫外線が放出されて、その紫外線によって殺菌対象物153が殺菌処理される。なお、電子レンジ150の側面には通気孔154が形成されている。(例えば、特許文献1参照。)。
