【0041】

[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in these conventional topologies, when a communication failure is detected, it is difficult to distinguish between a device failure and a transmission line failure. If it can be specified, the communication with the device is stopped, and if there is a communication failure thereafter, it is often treated as a failure of the entire communication system. For example, in a normal ring topology, when a transmission path between certain nodes fails, communication is interrupted there. In some cases, communication can be maintained by a special mechanism, but it is difficult to identify the transmission path, which is a failure point. In a network structure in which each node is independent such as a star topology and a bus topology, when a failure occurs in a transmission path between nodes, the nodes are forcibly disconnected to ensure communication of the entire system. However, if the separated node holds important information for the communication system, it hinders maintenance of the communication function of the entire system. Therefore, in order to improve security and reliability, it is conceivable to adopt a redundant configuration combining the above-mentioned topologies. However, if the transmission line is simply made physically redundant, a failure in a single part is detected. It becomes difficult and a potential failure occurs. In addition, in a case where the data transmission / reception device constituting the node is made redundant, the communication system becomes large, the development load of software and hardware increases, and the cost increases.
[0005]
Accordingly, the present invention provides a means for maintaining a communication function of the entire system by specifying a failure site of a device and a transmission line in a network under a condition of low cost and compensating for the failure state. The main task.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
[0018]
構造 Structure and operation of ring topology 型
First, the structure and operation of the ring topology according to the embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. FIG. 4 is a diagram illustrating a structure of a ring topology according to the embodiment of the present invention. 4A to 4D, there are nodes A to D, and one transmission line is connected between adjacent nodes. The curved arrow indicating the transmission path indicates the data transmission direction. FIGS. 4A and 4B show a basic operation (data communication confirmation mode) of data communication confirmation in the ring topology. As shown in (a), when data is transferred in the forward direction (clockwise direction in FIG. 4), the communication confirmation data (hereinafter simply referred to as “data”) output from the node A is After making a round around the ring through B, C, and D, it returns to node A again, and the data transfer ends. As shown in (b), when data is transferred in the reverse direction (counterclockwise direction in FIG. 4), the data output from the node A passes through the ring via the nodes D, C, and B. After one round, the node returns to the node A again, and the data transfer ends. As described above, all nodes including the node A alternately transmit data in the forward direction and the reverse direction at predetermined time intervals in order to confirm that all nodes and all transmission lines of the communication system are operating properly. And the reception confirmation of the data. For this predetermined time, a data transmission time and a data transmission direction, a data reception confirmation time and a data reception direction are given in advance to each node, and when the time comes, each node transmits data or confirms data reception in the direction. Is carried out. Note that the data to be transmitted may be in any format as long as it includes information indicating that the data is communication confirmation data and information specifying the transmission source node.
[0019]
Here, assuming that the transmission path between the node A and the node D fails as shown in FIG. 4C, the transmission data of the node A is transmitted to the nodes B, C, and D during forward data transfer. Arrives but does not return to node A again. In the forward direction, the transmission data of nodes B, C, and D also do not reach node A. On the other hand, at the time of the reverse data transfer, the transmission data of the nodes B, C, and D are received by the node A, but the transmission path between the node A and the node D is broken. Will not come back. In the forward data transfer, the node A receives no data from all nodes including the own node from the node D. In the reverse data transfer, it can receive data of other nodes. Since only the data of (1) does not come, it is determined that the transmission path between the own node and the node D has failed. This is the failure site identification mode in the node A. By the same procedure, the node D can also detect a failure in the transmission path between the node D and the node A. At this time, the node A or the node D may notify the user that the transmission path between the node A and the node D has failed.
[0020]
At that time, the node B can receive the data of the node A in the forward data transfer but cannot receive the data of the other nodes, and the data of the nodes C and D come in the reverse data transfer, Since data of other nodes does not come, it is determined that the transmission line between the nodes A and D has failed. This is the failure site identification mode in the node B. Similarly, the node C can detect a failure in the transmission path between the nodes A and D. At this time, the failure of the transmission path between the nodes A and D may be reported to the user by the node B or the node C.
[0021]
Next, a failure compensation operation of each node will be described. The nodes A and D that are directly connected to the failed transmission line disconnect the transmission line and do not perform any data transmission / reception with the transmission line (failure site isolation mode). Therefore, in the failure site isolation mode, the direction of data transmission and reception is only one direction. Nodes B and C, which are not directly connected to the failed transmission line, need to enable their own nodes to perform bidirectional data transfer in order to maintain the communication function of the entire system even if one transmission line is separated. Therefore, the mode is switched to the data transmission mode. In this data transmission mode, the received data is transmitted to the transmission path on the side opposite to the receiving side, and data transmission from the own node is performed to the bidirectional transmission path. In this way, as shown in FIG. 4D, even when the transmission path between the nodes A and D is disconnected, the communication function between the nodes can be maintained using the remaining transmission path. it can.
[0022]
FIG. 5 shows a relationship between a failure site and a source node of data that can be detected by each node. Here, “inter-node failure” refers to a failure in a transmission path between nodes. "Node failure (1)" refers to a case where the node cannot voluntarily transmit and receive data, and refers to a state in which data can be transmitted, that is, data can pass through the node. “Node failure (2)” indicates that the node cannot perform both data transmission and reception and data transmission. "-" Means that the node cannot receive data from any node. This includes both the case where the node has not actually received the signal and the case where it cannot be recognized as “received” due to the failure of the node. As an example of how to read FIG. 5, let us refer to the case of a failure in the transmission path between the nodes A and D. When the line of “failure between nodes DA” in the failure site column is traced rightward, nothing is received by the node A in the “forward direction”, and the nodes B, C, and D are received by the node A in the “reverse direction”. It can be seen that the data is received. Further, the node B in the “forward direction” receives the data of the node A, and the node B in the “reverse direction” receives the data of the nodes C and D. These contents are consistent with the above description. As described above, according to FIG. 5, it is possible to know which node each node receives data from the fault site. In other words, each node receives data based on data nodes received in the forward and reverse directions. In other words, it is possible to specify the failure site.

An operation of the data transmitting / receiving apparatus, which is an embodiment for implementing the operation of the ring topology, based on the configuration of the data transmitting / receiving apparatus will be described. Subsequently, reference is made to FIG. The
[0026]
First, normal data transmission / reception operations will be described with reference to FIG. When data is to be transmitted in the forward direction, the
[0027]
The normal movement of the node is basically a state of waiting for data reception in the forward direction or the reverse direction. When the own node transmits data, the buffer control as described above is performed. However, when performing data communication confirmation of the ring network, all nodes alternately transmit and receive communication confirmation data at predetermined time intervals in the forward and reverse directions. This is the data communication confirmation mode in the operation of the ring topology. Hereinafter, a flowchart showing the operation of the data transmission / reception device of FIG. 6 will be referred to as appropriate. The steps to be referred to at this time are shown in parentheses.
[0028]
The transmission direction and the transmission source node of the data confirmed to be received in the data communication confirmation mode (step S101) are clarified in the buffer control means 13 in the data transmission /
[0029]
Next, a procedure for maintaining the communication function of the ring network by coping with the specified failure site will be described. Consider a failure between the nodes DA in FIG. 5 (No in step S104), that is, a case in which the transmission path between the nodes A and D has failed. Since the node A is adjacent to the transmission line that is the failure site (Yes in step S105), the node A operates to disconnect the transmission line from the ring network (step S106). Specifically, the buffer control means 13 of the node A activates the input buffer 4 and the
[0030]
A case where the node A failure (1) in FIG. 5 has occurred (Yes in step S104) will be described. This failure is a state in which data cannot be transmitted and received spontaneously, but data can pass through the node A. At this time, since the communication function of the ring network can be maintained as it is, the operation returns to the normal data transmission / reception operation without taking measures such as disconnection of a faulty part or data transmission (step S108). However, the user may be notified of the failure state of the node A by any display means or communication means (not shown).
[0031]
The case where the node A failure (2) in FIG. 5 has occurred (No in step S104) will be described. In this failure, since the node cannot perform both data transmission and reception and data transmission, the node B and the node D adjacent to the node A at the failure site (Yes in step S105) perform an operation of disconnecting the transmission path on the node A side ( Failure site isolation mode, step S106). Further, since the failure site node C is not adjacent to the node A (No in step S105), the mode shifts to the data transmission mode (step S107). Since the specific operation of the buffer control means 13 and other operations are the same as those described for the failure between the nodes DA, the detailed description is omitted here. The above procedure is a failure compensation method for a ring network, and is controlled by a program executed in the buffer control means 12 of each node. This program can be recorded on a recording medium such as a CD-ROM.
[0032]
The embodiments of the present invention can be variously modified without departing from the spirit of the present invention.
[0033]
【The invention's effect】
According to the first aspect of the present invention, the communication state of the ring network can be confirmed. Therefore, the communication state of the ring network can be monitored by confirming the data communication at predetermined time intervals. In other words, according to the present invention, a time-triggered network structure (TTA: Time-Triggered Architecture) can be realized. Further, the present invention is a bidirectional ring network connection configuration having a single transmission path. Therefore, the existing ring-type topology, Dual Ring, requires a cost because the transmission path is double, while the ring-type topology of the present invention requires only a single transmission path, so that the cost can be reduced.
[0034]
According to the second aspect of the present invention, it is possible to specify the faulty part of the ring network, so that it can be connected to the operation of compensating for the faulty state, and notify the user of the faulty part to repair the faulty part. Exchange or the like can be prompted. Further, the failure detection part in the present invention is each node. Therefore, there is no need for a special device for fault detection, such as a hub in the case of a star topology, which is an existing topology, or a voting mechanism in the case of a bus topology, and a simple network structure can be achieved.
[0035]
According to the third aspect of the present invention, it is possible to isolate a failure site in the ring network and transmit / receive data between the nodes, so that the communication function of the entire system is maintained when the failure of the ring network is detected. Can be. This is because the existing ring topology, which also has a single transmission line, transmits and receives data in one direction, so a failure in one transmission line directly leads to a failure in the entire system. Very advantageous from the viewpoint of reliability.
[0036]
According to the invention according to claim 4, in the data transmission / reception apparatus of the ring network, the input buffer, the output buffer, and the intermediate buffer can be activated or deactivated by the buffer control means. Of the data can be controlled.
[0037]
According to the fifth aspect of the invention, in the data transmission / reception apparatus of the ring network, the transmission direction can be switched when the data transmission is performed by the buffer control means, so that bidirectional data transmission is performed as necessary. be able to. For example, in the data communication confirmation mode, it can be used to transmit communication confirmation data alternately in the forward and reverse directions.
[0038]
According to the invention according to
[0039]
According to the seventh aspect of the present invention, in the data transmitting / receiving apparatus of the ring network, the own node on the ring network can be set in a state capable of bidirectional data transmission / reception by the buffer control means. Is transmitted to the transmission path on the side opposite to the side that received the data, and data transmission from the own node is performed in both directions, enabling data transmission and reception between each node when a failure is detected. Can be maintained.
[0040]
According to the eighth aspect of the present invention, it is possible to specify a faulty part on the ring network, so that it can be connected to a method for compensating the faulty state, and notify the user of the faulty part and repair the faulty part. , Exchange, etc. can be prompted.
[0041]
According to the ninth aspect of the present invention, a node adjacent to the failure site disconnects the failure site from the ring network, and a node that is not adjacent to the failure site makes its own node always capable of bidirectional data transmission / reception. Therefore, the communication function of the entire system can be maintained when a failure is detected.
[0042]
According to the tenth aspect of the present invention, since the failure handling program is executed by the computer, the failure identification method of the ring network or the failure compensation method of the ring network can be realized. Sometimes the communication function of the whole system can be maintained.
[0043]
According to the eleventh aspect of the present invention, it is possible to install a failure handling program for a ring network recorded on a recording medium into a computer. Can be realized.
[0044]
According to the present invention described above, in a low-cost two-way ring network, when a failure is detected, a failure site of a device and a transmission line is specified, and the failure state is compensated for, thereby enabling communication of the entire system. Function can be maintained. This makes it possible to provide a small-scale network with high security and reliability.
