Description

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a pneumatic tire having blocks and / or ribs on a tread surface, and more particularly, to suppression of a decrease in ice performance during progress of tread wear of a studless tire.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In a pneumatic tire provided with blocks and / or ribs on a tire tread, a sipe has been cut into the blocks and / or ribs to enhance the edge effect, water removal effect, and adhesive effect of the sipe. Further, the ice performance has been improved by forming a zigzag-shaped notch groove in the side wall of the block or rib to increase the edge effect.
[0003]
For example, there is known a pneumatic tire in which a zigzag-shaped notch groove is cut in a side wall of a block in which a sipe is cut, an edge effect is increased by the notch groove, and ice performance is improved (for example, Patent Document 1). reference.).
[0004]
[Patent Document 1]
JP-A-5-238210 (pages 2-3, FIGS. 1-3)
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In such a conventional pneumatic tire, as the wear of the tread advances, the groove depth becomes shallower and the rigidity of the block increases. Further, even if a sipe is engraved on a block or the like, a shallow sipe or a shallow portion of the sipe disappears. As a result, there was a possibility that the block would not fall down properly when it was new, and that the grounding properties would be degraded and the ice performance would be degraded.
[0006]
An object of the present invention is to suppress a decrease in ice performance due to a deterioration in grounding properties of a block or the like when tread wear progresses.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
As a result of intensive studies to solve the above problems, the present invention provides a block defined by a main groove engraved on a tread and extending in a tire circumferential direction and a lateral groove communicating the main grooves, and / or In a pneumatic tire having a rib defined by a groove,
A notch groove having a zigzag cross section is cut in a side wall of the block and / or the rib,
A reference plane parallel to the tread surface is set at a position at least 20% of the maximum groove depth D from the new tread surface toward the groove bottom,
A pneumatic tire is used in which the number of the notch grooves at the groove bottom from the reference surface to the groove bottom is larger than the number of the notch grooves at the surface portion from the tread surface to the reference surface.
[0008]
When the tire is new or the tread has little wear, the rigidity of the block is low and the block falls down, so that the ice performance is secured. Therefore, the number of peaks of the cutout grooves in the surface portion may not be relatively small. Further, since the rigidity of the block is low, when the number of zigzag peaks in the cutout groove on the surface is increased, the block is easily worn. Therefore, it is difficult to increase the number of zigzag peaks.
[0009]
As the wear of the tread progresses, the height of the block decreases and the rigidity decreases. As a result, the falling of the blocks is insufficient, and the edge effect is reduced. However, due to wear, a notched groove at the bottom of the groove appears on the tread surface. Since a notch groove having a large number of zigzag peaks is cut in the groove bottom, ice performance is maintained by the edge effect of the notch groove. Further, since the block rigidity is low, the notch groove is not easily worn.
[0010]
If the reference surface is located at a position less than 20% of the maximum groove depth D from the new tread surface, a notched groove having a large number of peaks appears on the tread surface at a stage where the rigidity of the block is low. Is more likely to occur. Since the limit of the studless effect is usually at the time of 50% wear of the maximum groove depth D, it is preferable to provide the reference surface from the tread surface at the time of new article to a position 50% of the maximum groove depth D. However, even in such a case, the edge effect on the wet road can still be exhibited.
[0011]
Further, the number of peaks of the notch groove at the bottom of the groove may be twice or more the number of peaks of the notch groove at the surface portion.
[0012]
By setting the number of peaks of the notch groove at the groove bottom to be at least twice the number of peaks of the notch groove at the surface, when the groove bottom appears on the tread surface, more peaks are formed. Since a notch groove having the same appears, a greater edge effect can be obtained.
[0013]
A pneumatic tire may be provided in which a block and / or a rib in which the notched groove is cut in a side wall is cut in a sipe.
[0014]
When a sipe is cut into a block, ice performance is secured by the edge effect of the sipe, but a relatively shallow sipe. When new, or when the tread wear is small, the sipe depth is sufficient and the rigidity of the block is low, so that the block collapses, so that the ice effect is secured by the edge effect of the sipe. In order to further enhance the edge effect, a notch groove having a zigzag cross section can be formed in the block side wall. However, in the initial stage of abrasion, the rigidity of the block is low. Therefore, when the number of zigzag peaks of the notch groove is increased, abrasion is likely to occur. Conversely, since the edge effect is ensured by the sipes, it is not necessary to increase the number of zigzag peaks.
[0015]
As the wear of the tread progresses, the height of the block decreases, the rigidity decreases, and the relatively shallow sipes disappear. As a result, the falling of the blocks is insufficient, and the edge effect is reduced. However, since a notch groove having a large number of zigzag peaks is cut at the groove bottom, the ice performance is maintained by the edge effect of the notch groove.
[0016]
A pneumatic tire, wherein the sipe is an open sipe.
[0017]
In particular, when the open sipe is cut, both ends of the sipe are often shallower than the center of the sipe from the viewpoint of preventing cracks and the like. For this reason, both ends of the sipe disappear first due to wear and the edge effect is reduced, but a notch groove with an increased number of zigzag peaks at the bottom of the groove appears on the tread surface, so the edge effect by the notch groove causes A decrease in tire performance is suppressed. Further, even if a notch groove is provided in the side wall of the rib, the same operation and effect can be obtained.
[0018]
The pneumatic tire may have a peak width of the cutout groove of 5% to 30% of the side wall length.
[0019]
When the width of the peak of the notch groove is less than 5% of the side wall length, the edge effect is small because the width of the peak is small. Conversely, if the width of the peak of the notch groove exceeds 30% of the side wall length, the number of peaks that can be cut is small, so that the edge effect is small.
[0020]

Conversely, if the peak width L2 exceeds 30% of the side wall length L1, the number of peaks that can be cut is small, and the edge effect is small.

As described above, the pneumatic tire having the block has been described. However, in the pneumatic tire having the rib, the same effect can be obtained even if the notch groove is formed in the side wall of the main groove forming the rib. In addition, it is also possible to adopt a structure in which a notch groove is not formed in the surface portion but a cutout groove is formed only in the groove bottom portion. Further, the cutout groove may be formed only on the side wall of a specific block or block row, or the cutout groove may be formed only on a part of the side wall of the block.

【Example】
A pneumatic tire according to the present invention was prototyped and its performance was evaluated. The embodiment has a block having the shape shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, and has a reference plane T at a position where d = 0.29D. Therefore, the tire has the pattern shown in FIG. 4 when it is new, and has the pattern shown in FIG. 5 when it is worn by 30%. The comparative example is a block having a small number of notch grooves as shown in FIG. 3A, and the number of notch grooves does not change as shown in FIG. 3B. Therefore, it has the pattern shown in FIG. 4 regardless of wear. In each of the examples and comparative examples, the tire size was 195 / 65R15, and the tires were mounted on a 2000cc domestic front wheel drive vehicle to evaluate the performance on an ice road surface.
[0030]
Table 1 shows the results of the performance evaluation. In Table 1, the ice braking performance indicates the reciprocal of the full lock braking distance from 40 km / h, and is indicated by an index with the comparative example being 100. Therefore, the larger the index, the better the performance.
[0031]
[Table 1]
[0032]
According to Table 1, in both the cases of 30% wear and 50% wear, in the example, the tread wears beyond the reference surface, and the ice braking performance is increased due to the edge effect due to the cutout groove having the increased number of peaks. Has improved. Therefore, it is understood that the tire of the present invention has excellent ice performance. In addition, at the time of 30% wear, and at the time of 50% wear, it means that the tread is worn by 30% and 50% of the maximum groove depth D.
[0033]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, the pneumatic tire of the present invention has a structure in which a zigzag cutout groove is formed in the side wall of the block and / or rib, and the number of cutout groove peaks is larger at the groove bottom than at the surface. As a result, even if tread wear progresses, the number of peaks of the notched grooves that contact the road surface increases, and it is possible to suppress a decrease in tire performance.
