Abstract
Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an improvement of a baseball bat, and reduces air resistance when the bat moves.
[0002]
[Prior art]
It has been widely known that an undesired vortex, which is a so-called Karman vortex, which causes air resistance against bat swinging, is generated behind the bat when the bat swings.
Therefore, there is a limit to the player's ability to swing the bat quickly and strongly, and as a result, there is a limit to extending the flight distance.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
Eliminating the adverse effects of these undesired Karman vortices is at a high level overall, and in recent baseball games where slight differences have become a major issue, there is a special requirement. Yes, each bat maker is struggling from their own point of view, but the reality is that no so-called “well-flying” bat has yet been born as a result that meets expectations.
The present invention suppresses the generation of the Karman vortex itself at the time of bat swing, and enables fast bat swing.
[0004]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The baseball bat according to the present invention is preferably formed by subjecting substantially the entire surface of the bat main body to integral molding or polishing so as to form extremely fine and numerous grooves so as to exhibit a spiral shape in the length direction, thereby providing air resistance. The main point is to suppress the Karman vortex which is not necessary.
[0005]
In order to form the extremely fine and numerous grooves so as to exhibit a spiral shape in the length direction, it is formed by integral molding (such as a synthetic resin such as FRP) according to the material of the bat main body, or the final process. The so-called hairline buffing or processing (sand processing) called “processing” is used.
[0006]
The direction of the spiral may be right-handed or left-handed, depending on the user's choice.
[0007]
As the material of the bat body, a metal or a mixed metal material such as aluminum or titanium, a carbon material, a wood material, or a synthetic resin material such as FRP can be selected.
It is also possible to select a wood material having a thin synthetic resin coating such as FRP on the surface thereof.
[0008]
In the case of applying a thin synthetic resin (such as FRP) coating on the surface of the wood material described at the end, the grooves having a very large number of spirals do not adversely affect the strength of the bat. It is desirable that it is formed only on the coating film portion on the surface and does not reach the internal woody material.
[0009]
In the case of other materials, the depth or width of a large number of extremely fine grooves can be arbitrarily selected, but in general, it is extremely shallow so as not to adversely affect the lightness and strength of the bat. The groove depth is desirable.
[0010]
Moreover, the degree of the looseness of the spiral formed in the length direction of the bat can be arbitrarily selected.
[0011]
In addition, it can be said that the extremely fine grooves having a spiral shape are generally miniaturized to the extent that they cannot be visually observed with the naked eye. It is also technically possible to make the holes visible to the naked eye by means of a balance.
[0012]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, a preferred embodiment of a baseball bat having a rod-like portion with reduced Karman vortices according to the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
[0013]
[Example 1]
FIG. 1 is a plan view of a metal bat made of an aluminum alloy according to the present invention, and FIG. 2 is an enlarged sectional view taken along line AA of FIG.
[0014]
In FIG. 1, reference numeral 1 is a metal bat main body,
In FIG. 2, P indicates the pitch of the spiral groove, W indicates the same width, and D indicates the same depth.
[0015]
When an object moves about in the water or in the air, it will cause compression or expansion of water or air, movement or vibration of water or air, adsorption of water or air, etc. It is well known that various forces act to try to stay in that position, and the turbulent flow typically referred to as “Karman vortex” is the most appropriate example.
In a word, this Karman vortex is not desirable when a certain object tries to travel forward, and is generated behind the object to suck the object backward, that is, backward.
[0016]
That is, since force is generated in the opposite direction to prevent the object from moving, movement of the object in water or in the air is very difficult for the thrust.
Even in baseball, the action of swinging the bat itself is to move the bat in the air, so various unfavorable reverse forces similar to the case of moving the object in the air are added, and the thrust is moved by moving in the air. The actions we get are also very complex.
[0017]
Accordingly, the present invention has taken advantage of the above-mentioned problem of air resistance, and is superior to a new baseball bat in which air resistance is actively controlled to minimize air resistance as much as possible. In this embodiment, in the final stage of manufacturing the metal bat, an extremely fine polished groove denoted by
[0018]
The spiral-shaped angle can be freely selected by predetermining a standard looseness angle or, in some cases, a looseness angle preferred by the user.
Furthermore, the direction of winding in a spiral shape can be selected freely such as left-handed or right-handed according to the dominant arm or the like.
[0019]
In this embodiment, an aluminum alloy is used as the material of the bat body 1. Of course, depending on the case, other than the aluminum alloy, for example, a titanium alloy or duralumin may be used, or another metal or alloy may be used. Even if it exists, it does not matter as long as it has appropriate lightness and strength as a bat.
[0020]
A number of
That is, specifically, the bat is configured as a manual process or as a mechanical or electrical process in the final process of forming and processing the metal bat 1 and finally polishing it into a finished product. When the entire metal surface is sanded by various polishing materials such as sandpaper, in other words, it is generally formed at the time of “hairline buffing” in the final process.
It should be noted that the depth of the fine

Descriptions common to those of the first embodiment and those not particularly shown are omitted.
[0022]
In this embodiment, the entire bat is made of synthetic resin (FRP).
In this case, extremely fine grooves having a spiral shape are integrally molded by the same processes and operations as in the production of a normal synthetic resin molded product.

The same sanding as in Example 1 can also be used.
In either case, it is possible to use the same integral molding as in Example 2, but in any case, no groove is formed in the internal woody portion 5 ', and the surface synthetic

[0024]
【effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, the presence of countless fine grooves formed in a spiral shape reduces undesired air resistance generated when swinging the bat, coupled with a favorable rectifying effect, As a result of the remarkable improvement in the speed of folding for swinging, and the adverse effects caused by Karman vortices such as the vibration to the left and right and the prevention of shaking are eliminated and the fluid resistance is greatly reduced, a sufficient flight distance can be expected.
As described above, the present invention is aimed at reducing the air resistance against the bat. However, the present invention has a rod-like shape and requires a swing-out action (for example, a golf shaft). Needless to say, the present invention can also be applied.
