Abstract
Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an image reading apparatus used in a flatbed image scanner, a digital copying machine, and the like, and particularly, using an integrated scanning optical system unit that integrally houses a light source, a mirror, an imaging lens, an image sensor, and the like. The present invention relates to an image reading device for reading image information of a document.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, various image reading apparatuses such as a flatbed image scanner and a digital copying machine have been proposed.
[0003]
FIG. 4 is a schematic view of a main part of a conventional image reading apparatus of this kind.

In the figure, a

[0007]
This type of scanning optical system is known as a so-called 2: 1 scanning optical system, and has an advantage that the device size in the sub-scanning direction can be reduced even when the optical path length from the document to the image sensor is increased.
[0008]
However, this type of scanning optical system needs to perform scanning while relatively changing the positional relationship between the three scanning mirrors connecting the original and the image sensor. In some cases, color shift, density unevenness, focus shift, or the like due to an accuracy error or the like may occur. Therefore, there is a problem in that the component accuracy and drive accuracy of the scanning mirror must be increased.
[0009]
Therefore, an image reading apparatus having an integrated scanning optical system unit which has alleviated the problems of the above-described 2: 1 scanning optical system is disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 5-48827.

FIG. 5 is a schematic view of a main part of an image reading apparatus having an integrated scanning optical system unit.

[0014]
Since the relative position is always constant, the influence on the color shift, density unevenness, focus shift, and the like due to vibration, angular error, surface accuracy error, and the like of the scanning mirror is reduced, and the integrated scanning optical system performs 2: 1 scanning. Compared with the optical system, high-quality images can be obtained as long as the precision of the parts of the carriage case that accommodates the components of the integrated scanning optical system unit is highly accurate, without increasing the precision and driving precision of the mirrors. Can be done.

Here, the carriage case includes all the elements up to the

Therefore, in order to reduce the load on the drive system, it is desirable that the carriage case is made of a lightweight resin such as ABS or polycarbonate.
[0017]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the integrated scanning optical system unit shown in the above-mentioned conventional example, there is not much problem in the case of low-speed reading, but there is a problem of heat when reading several tens of sheets in one minute.

【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention, the folding mirror is arranged before or after the imaging lens, and the light beam is folded upward in the scanning unit, so that the image sensor can be arranged above the scanning unit. All of the mirrors are located below the image sensor, making it difficult for the heat generated by the image sensor to reach the optical components. Image defects can be prevented.
