Abstract
Description

The present invention generally relates to a connector used for an electronic device, and more particularly, to a connector for connecting two substrates. The present invention relates to, for example, an enclosure in a hard disk drive (hereinafter, referred to as an “HDD”) (disposed in a “disk enclosure (hereinafter, referred to as a“ DE ”), a FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) board and an enclosure in the DE). It is suitable for a connector for electrically connecting a printed board unit (hereinafter, referred to as a “PT board”) that covers the upper surface of the PPC.
[Prior art]
With the recent spread of personal computers (hereinafter, referred to as "PC"), portable terminals, and portable electronic devices, the miniaturization of devices has been progressing, and the production of highly reliable and high-yield electronic devices has been increasingly demanded. It is becoming. For this reason, HDDs used for PCs are also required to have high reliability and yield.
In the HDD, a DE, a head for recording and reproducing data on and from the disk, and a drive unit for driving the disk and the head are stored in the DE. The upper surface of the DE is exposed, the drive unit is connected to the FPC, and a PT substrate that covers the DE is mounted on the upper surface of the DE. The connection between the PT board and the FPC is made by a connector having elastically deformable terminals (also called “contacts”). A plurality of circuit elements are mounted on the surface of the PT board facing the connector. As a result, drive information of the disk and the head, information read and written by the head, and the like can be communicated between the FPC and the PT board via the connector.
An example of a conventional connector will be described with reference to FIGS. Here, FIG. 11 is a schematic perspective view of a

However, the structure disclosed in the document information corresponds to a structure in which the
[Means for Solving the Problems]
Therefore, the present invention is a novel and useful connector that solves such a conventional problem, and includes at least one of enhancement of grounding performance, adjustment of contact elastic force between a board and a connector, and prevention of poor contact. The object of the present invention is to provide a highly reliable connector and an electronic device having such a connector.
In order to achieve the above object, a connector according to one aspect of the present invention includes a contact elastically electrically connected to a substrate, and a contact that partially protrudes from a first surface facing the substrate. It has a housing for accommodating contacts, and a spacer for regulating a distance between the first surface of the housing and the substrate. According to such a connector, the spacer can adjust the distance between the housing and the substrate to a fixed distance. As described above, the product of the space between the housing and the substrate and the elastic force corresponds to the work applied to the substrate. If the housing can be brought into contact with the substrate, the work can be simplified by (elastic force) × (the distance at which the contact can protrude), resulting in deformation of the substrate and the resulting peeling of the solder. On the other hand, if the housing and the board are too far apart by screws or the like, contact failure between the contact and the board occurs. For this reason, the distance between the housing and the substrate must be maintained within a certain range. According to the connector of the present invention, if the height of the spacer is set within such a predetermined range, there is no need to manually adjust the distance between the housing and the substrate, and the substrate only needs to be brought into contact with the spacer. The adjustment of the elastic force can be performed. It is preferable that a height of the spacer is lower than a height at which the contact can protrude from the first surface. If it is higher than this, electrical connection between the contact and the substrate cannot be made. However, it is preferable that the height of the spacer is set so as to obtain an appropriate contact pressure in consideration of a manufacturing error. It is preferable that the spacer is provided symmetrically on the first surface. This is because the asymmetric arrangement causes deformation and inclination of the substrate.
A connector according to another aspect of the present invention includes a contact elastically electrically connected to a substrate, a housing for accommodating the contact such that the contact partially protrudes, and a housing provided on the housing. And a fixing portion for engaging and fixing to the substrate. According to such a contact, since the housing and the substrate are engaged and fixed, the relative positions of the two do not change. Therefore, the connector does not move with respect to the substrate due to external vibration as in the above-mentioned document information, and the electrical contact between the contact and the substrate is not broken. The fixing portion has, for example, a screw hole that engages with a screw penetrating the substrate. Further, the fixing portion may be provided at a center of a surface of the contact facing the substrate. When the fixed portion is provided at the center, the deformation moment at both ends farthest from the center is half of the deformation moment given by the contact at the other end when the fixed portion is provided at one end. Therefore, it is preferable to prevent deformation of the substrate. The fixing unit may include a protrusion that protrudes into the substrate, and a support unit that supports the substrate. As described above, if the fixing portion is provided with a step and is partially fitted into the substrate, the relative positions of the two can be fixed. Of course, a structure in which the inside of the substrate has a supporting portion and the supporting portion has a protruding portion may be employed.
An electronic device according to another aspect of the present invention includes the above-described connector, a first substrate as the above-described substrate, and, on the opposite side to the first substrate with respect to the connector, different from the first substrate. And a second substrate, wherein the contact is elastically connected to the electric machine. Such an electronic device also has the function of the connector described above.
An electronic apparatus according to another aspect of the present invention includes a first substrate having a first electric terminal and a first ground terminal, a second substrate having a second terminal and a second ground terminal, A contact disposed between the first and second substrates and electrically connecting the first and second electrical terminals; and a contact fixed to the first substrate and the first and second ground terminals. And a connector having a fixed portion for electrical connection. Since such an electronic device has a fixing portion for making an electrical connection in addition to the contact, an excessive current is prevented and the electronic component can be maintained. In addition, it has the effect of the connector described above. Such an electronic device may be, for example, a hard disk drive.
Other objects and further features of the present invention will become apparent in the embodiments described below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

【The invention's effect】
The enclosure connecting connector of the present invention has the following effects by providing a screw unit at the center of the connector.
The connector of the present invention eliminates the deformation of the PT board due to the high contact pressure of the contact and the poor contact due to the low contact pressure due to the tightening of the screw between the connector and the PT board. The need for distance adjustment management is eliminated, and a reduction in yield can be eliminated. In addition, the conventional PT board and FPC board can be appropriately grounded, and damage to the electronic circuit due to overload can be prevented. Furthermore, it is possible to prevent the connector from changing in the gap between the through hole and the male screw, and to prevent poor contact between the contact and the pad. As a result, in an HDD equipped with two substrates, the reliability is improved. Therefore, it is possible to provide a better HDD.
