Abstract
Description
【0001】

In recent years, demands for higher output of internal combustion engines and the like require severe conditions regarding the characteristics of piston rings and cylinder liners that are in sliding contact with the piston rings.
[0003]
Under such circumstances, in the cylinder liner, in order to improve the initial conformability with the piston ring, the surface roughness Rz of the sliding surface thereof is conventionally generally set to 2 to 3 μm. Further, the surface roughness Rz near the top dead center of the cylinder liner is specified to be 0.5 to 3.2 μm, and the surface roughness Rz of the portion other than the vicinity of the top dead center is specified to be 0.6 to 1.8 μm. In addition to reducing lubricating oil consumption and improving seizure resistance (also called scuff resistance), a phosphate film is formed near its top dead center and the surface roughness of the phosphate film is improved. By setting the Rz to 0.5 to 3.2 μm, the seizure resistance near the top dead center is improved (for example, see Patent Document 1).
[0004]
On the other hand, in the piston ring, the scuff resistance is improved by setting the surface roughness Rz of the sliding surface subjected to the nitriding treatment to 0.5 μm or less (for example, see Patent Document 2). Further, on the sliding surface in which the phosphoric acid film is formed on the nitrided layer, the surface roughness Rz is regulated to 1 to 8 μm, thereby improving the initial conformability, abrasion resistance and scuff resistance. (See, for example, Patent Document 3).
[0005]
As for the combination of the piston ring and the cylinder liner, the wear resistance and the scuff resistance are improved by setting the surface roughness Rz of the cylinder liner in sliding contact with the nitrided piston ring to 0.8 μm or less. (See, for example, Patent Document 4).

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in a combined sliding member composed of a piston ring and a cylinder liner, durability such as scuff resistance is based on the interaction between the piston ring and the cylinder liner. As described above, there has been the actual situation that merely improving the characteristics of only the piston ring or the characteristics of the cylinder liner does not necessarily improve the characteristics of the combination sliding member.
[0008]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made to solve the above problems, and provides a combined sliding member including a piston ring and a cylinder liner, which is adapted to reduce the friction of an internal combustion engine.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The combination sliding member according to
[0010]
According to the present invention, since the combined sliding member is constituted by the piston ring having the above surface characteristics and the cylinder liner, the coefficient of friction at the time of sliding contact between the piston ring and the cylinder liner is reduced, and the piston ring and the cylinder By reducing the frictional force with the liner, energy efficiency can be improved (friction reduction), and a sliding member having excellent scuff resistance can be obtained. Conventionally, when examining a combination structure of a low-friction piston ring and a cylinder liner, the surface characteristics such as initial wear height Rpk, effective load roughness Rk and oil sump depth Rvk based on DIN4776 standard are sufficiently considered. Although not taken into account, the present invention achieves even lower friction and scuff resistance by specifying these surface characteristics in detail.
[0011]
The invention according to
[0012]
According to the present invention, the combination of the material of the sliding surface of the piston ring and the material of the sliding surface of the cylinder liner is as described above, so that the combination sliding excellent in durability corresponding to the low friction of the internal combustion engine. A member can be preferably provided.

Further, the cross-sectional shape of the piston ring may be a cross-sectional shape such as a half keystone ring, a full keystone ring, and a scraper ring. The oil ring may be an oil control ring with a window, a bevel oil control ring, a double bevel oil control ring, or the like, or may be another oil ring with a coil expander.

Here, each surface characteristic will be described. As is well known, the surface roughness Rz is defined as a ten-point average roughness based on JIS B0601. The DIN 4776 standard is a German private standard that has been widely known in Japan in the field of sliding members.
[0022]
As shown in FIG. 12, the initial wear height Rpk, effective load roughness Rk, and oil pool depth Rvk of the DIN4776 standard are plotted from the
[0023]
The initial wear height Rpk in FIG. 12 is the height of a right triangle with ac as the base and the apex on the limit line of the relative load length ratio tp0%, and the value is obtained by calculating the area of the right triangle as the relative load length. It is calculated to be equal to the area of the portion surrounded by the rate tp0% limit line, the side ac, and the load curve. The effective load roughness Rk is a height difference between c and d in FIG. 12, and is represented by a wear height until the target surface becomes unusable. The oil sump depth Rvk is the height of a right triangle in which the bd is the base and the vertex is on the limit line of the relative load length ratio tp100% in FIG. 12, and the value of the right triangle is the relative load length. It is calculated to be equal to the area surrounded by the rate tp100% limit line, the side bd, and the load curve.

The reason for setting the Rpk to 0.05 to 0.2 μm is that if the Rpk is less than 0.05 μm, sufficient initial break-in cannot be obtained. This is because it is greatly worn before it fits into the ring. In addition, it is considered that a scuff is unlikely to occur because a surface other than the contact surface holds a sufficient oil film and the oil film is supplemented by a capillary phenomenon even when the surface pressure is locally increased in some cases.

The present invention will be specifically described by way of examples. The following% is% by mass.

17Cr stainless steel (SUS440, C: 0.9%, Si: 0.4%, Mn: 0.3%, Cr: 17.5%, Mo: 1.1%, V: 0) as a base material for the piston ring 0.1%, P: 0.02%, S: 0.02%, balance: iron and unavoidable impurities). There were four types of films formed on the surface: a Cr plating layer, a laminated Cr plating layer, a gas nitrided layer, and a PVD layer.
[0035]
The film was formed on the base material by the following method. The Cr plating layer was formed by electrolytic plating in a chromium fluoride solution and had a thickness of about 150 μm. The laminated Cr plating layer was formed by electrolytic plating in a chromium fluoride solution in the same manner as the Cr plating described above, and 15 Cr plating layers having a thickness of 10 μm per layer were laminated to a thickness of about 150 μm. The gas nitrided layer was formed by holding at 590 ° C. × 6 hours and further holding at 540 ° C. × 2 hours in an ammonia decomposition gas atmosphere to have a thickness of about 100 μm. The PVD layer was formed by an ion plating method, and a CrN film oriented mainly in {200} was formed.
[0036]
After grinding the surface of the formed layer, the surface was polished using a polishing paper to adjust to a predetermined surface roughness Rz, thereby forming a sliding surface of the piston ring. When the surface roughness Rz was 0.5 μm, the surface was polished and then subjected to a lapping treatment to adjust the surface roughness Rz to a predetermined value.
[0037]
The surface of the formed layer is processed by the above method so as to have a surface roughness Rz of 0.5 μm, 0.7 μm, 1.0 μm, 1.1 μm, 1.3 μm, and 1.5 μm. Various test samples having different Rz were prepared.
[0038]
Thus, each test sample having a predetermined surface roughness Rz was prepared. The thickness of each layer after processing and the Vickers hardness of the sliding surface were as follows: Cr plating layer: 120 μm · Hv900, laminated Cr plating layer: 130 μm · Hv920, gas nitride layer: 70 μm · Hv1100, PVDCrN layer: 20 μm · Hv1500. there were.

FC25 (C: 3.3%, Si: 1.9%, Mn: 0.8%, P: 0.2%, S: 0.07%, Cu: 0.2%, as a base material for a cylinder liner) Cr: 0.15%, balance: iron and unavoidable impurities, boron cast iron (C: 3.4%, Si: 2.1%, Mn: 0.8%, P: 0.3%, S: 0. 07%, B: 0.08%, balance: iron and unavoidable impurities), cast steel (C: 0.92%, Si: 0.56%, Mn: 1.02%, P: 0.02%, S: 0.30%, Cr: 1.08%, balance: iron and unavoidable impurities).
[0040]
After grinding the surface of the base material, the surface was polished sequentially by changing the fineness of the grinding wheel to adjust to a predetermined surface roughness Rz, thereby forming the sliding surface of the cylinder liner. Specifically, machining was performed using a GC grindstone as a rough honing equivalent grindstone, and then finishing was performed using a finer grindstone (super-abrasive CBN grindstone). This finishing process was performed twice, and the surface characteristics (surface roughness Rz, initial wear height Rpk, effective load roughness Rk, and oil pool depth Rvk) of the
[0041]
In this example, various test samples having surface roughness Rz of 0.3 μm, 0.5 μm, 0.8 μm, 1.5 μm, 2.0 μm, and 3.0 μm were prepared, and other surface characteristics were prepared. Was also adjusted. Those having a surface roughness Rz of 0.3 μm and 0.5 μm were adjusted to a predetermined surface roughness Rz by lapping after polishing the surface. The Rockwell hardness (B scale or C scale) of the sliding surface of each test sample after processing was FC25: HRB95, boron cast iron: HRB100, and cast steel: HRC32. Table 1 is a list of the surface characteristics of the sliding surface 5 in each adjusted test sample.
[0042]
[Table 1]
[0043]
(3) Measurement and evaluation of coefficient of friction, scuff resistance, etc.
The measurement of the friction coefficient and the evaluation of the scuff resistance were performed using an Amsler-type abrasion tester. A test sample (8 mm x 7 mm x 5 mm) on which the sliding surface of the piston ring was formed was used as a fixed piece, and a test sample (outer diameter of 40 mm, inner diameter of 16 mm, and thickness of 10 mm) having the sliding surface of the cylinder liner was used as a rotating piece. A test was performed according to the principle shown in FIG.
[0044]
As the test conditions, an Amsler-type abrasion tester was used, and the test was performed while attaching lubricating oil to the fixed pieces. The anti-scuff load was represented by a load when a load signal was generated by a scuff by increasing the load linearly and continuously until a scuff was generated. The lubricating oil was No. 1 spindle oil, the peripheral speed was 1 m / sec (478 rpm), and the load was linearly increased at a rate of 49 N / min.
[0045]
(4) Result
In the graphs shown in FIGS. 2 to 10, the relationship between the surface roughness Rz of the piston ring sliding surface and the surface roughness Rz is represented as the representative characteristic among the surface characteristics of the cylinder liner sliding surface.
[0046]
FIGS. 2 to 4 show a case where the surface roughness Rz of the fixed piece on which the piston ring sliding surface is formed is fixed at 0.7 μm and the surface roughness Rz of the rotating piece on which the cylinder liner sliding surface is formed is changed. Shows the relationship with the friction coefficient. FIGS. 5 to 7 show the case where the surface roughness Rz of the rotating piece on which the cylinder liner sliding surface is formed is fixed at 0.5 μm and the surface roughness Rz of the fixed piece on which the piston ring sliding surface is formed is changed. Shows the relationship with the scuff resistance. 8 to 10 show the case where the surface roughness Rz of the fixed piece on which the piston ring sliding surface is formed is fixed at 0.7 μm and the surface roughness Rz of the rotating piece on which the cylinder liner sliding surface is formed is changed. Shows the relationship with the scuff resistance.
[0047]
As is clear from the above results, a piston ring having a sliding surface with a surface roughness Rz of 0.5 to 1.0 μm, a surface roughness Rz of 0.5 to 1.5 μm and an initial wear height Rpk By combining with a cylinder liner having a sliding surface of 0.05 to 0.2 μm, an effective load roughness Rk of 0.2 to 0.6 μm and an oil reservoir depth Rvk of 0.10 to 0.35 μm. , The wear coefficient could be reduced. Further, the scuff resistance was also improved.
[0048]
【The invention's effect】
