Abstract
Description
【0001】

The full-rate carriage is scanned according to the size of the document placed on the platen glass based on an input from the operation unit. Such scanning is performed by a pulse of a stepping motor that is a driving source for scanning the full-rate carriage. The stepping motor is rotated by a predetermined number of revolutions by resetting the counter with the full rate carriage positioned at the initial position and applying a predetermined number of pulses to the stepping motor by a predetermined number of counts. The full-rate carriage is scanned within a predetermined range.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the method of controlling the scanning of the full rate carriage based on the number of pulses applied to the stepping motor, an error may occur between the scanning range set as the initial reference and the actual scanning range due to various causes. There is. For example, components related to drive transmission from a stepping motor to a full rate carriage, such as a drive shaft and a wire drive mechanism, are manufactured with predetermined reference dimensions, but errors within the reference dimensions, assembly errors, and component Due to wear and other deterioration over time, the relationship between the rotation speed of the stepping motor and the actual scanning range and speed of the full rate carriage often does not meet the initially set reference. Such an error affects the reading accuracy of the document. If the error is large, the full-rate carriage may collide with another member due to overscanning. In order to eliminate such errors, it is necessary to inspect and adjust the scanning range of the full rate carriage at the time of manufacturing, installation after transportation, and maintenance and inspection, but it is difficult for the user to make such adjustment. However, since the operation is performed by a specialist, there is a disadvantage that the burden on the user is increased as a cost for maintenance and inspection.
[0005]
The present invention has been made in view of these points, and detects a position of a scanning end of a carriage to prevent a collision or the like due to a scanning error of a carriage and to realize an image capable of adjusting the scanning error. It is an object to provide a reading device.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The image reading apparatus according to the present invention has a light source that irradiates light to a document, a carriage that scans the document to be read, an imaging unit that forms light reflected from the document, and the carriage. A carriage driving mechanism that scans along the guide rail, a driving source that applies a driving force to the carriage driving mechanism, first detection means and second detection means disposed at scanning ends of the carriage, respectively; And a first detection unit and a second detection unit detected by the first detection unit or the second detection unit, and a position of the carriage is recognized based on detection signals of the first detection unit and the second detection unit. And control means for controlling the scanning range of the carriage. By detecting the scanning end of the carriage and controlling the scanning to stop at that position, even if a scanning error occurs, it is possible to prevent the carriage from scanning beyond the scanning end. Also, it is possible to detect the actual speed at which the carriage moves from one scanning end to the other scanning end, and it is also possible to adjust the carriage scanning control based on the actual speed and the like.
[0007]
The carriage of the present invention includes, for example, a light source and a reflection mirror, and a device that guides reflected light from a document to an imaging unit by the reflection mirror, and a light source and an imaging unit such as a CCD. In some cases, reflected light is read by the imaging unit.
[0008]
Further, the first detection means and the second detection means are optical sensors, and one of the first detection part and the second detection part is set up substantially in a vertical direction, and the other is set up substantially in a horizontal direction. It is a light shielding plate. Since the position of the carriage can be detected in a non-contact manner by using the first detection means and the second detection means as optical sensors, vibration is applied to the carriage like a contact-type detection means such as a microswitch. There is no fear. In addition, by providing the first test section and the second test section in a substantially vertical direction and a substantially horizontal direction, it is possible to save the space of the carriage.
In addition, the first test portion and the second test portion are plastic molded products that are integrally formed so as to be mountable on the carriage, so that the cost can be suppressed and the mounting operation can be facilitated.

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the image reading apparatus of the present invention, the carriage having the light source for irradiating the original with light, scanning the original to be read, and forming the reflected light from the original are formed. A unit, a carriage driving mechanism that scans the carriage along the guide rail, a driving source that applies a driving force to the carriage driving mechanism, and first and second detection units disposed at scanning ends of the carriage, respectively. A first detection unit and a second detection unit provided on the carriage and detected by the first detection unit or the second detection unit; and a detection signal of the first detection unit and the second detection unit. Control means for recognizing the position of the carriage and controlling the scanning range of the carriage, so that the control unit stops the driving source when the carriage is scanned to the scanning end. , It can be prevented from being scanned to a position where the carriage exceeds scanning end. Further, the control unit can adjust the scanning by detecting an error between the initial setting of the scanning and the actual scanning.
[0030]
In addition, it is possible to save the space of the carriage by arranging one of the first to-be-tested portion and the second to-be-tested portion in a substantially vertical direction and projecting the other in a substantially horizontal direction, It can be expected to contribute to downsizing of the device. Further, by forming the first test portion and the second test portion as a plastic molded product molded integrally, the cost can be suppressed and the mounting operation can be facilitated.
