<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform satisfactory selling without being limited by a special environment or the like. <P>SOLUTION: A distributed recording medium 1 is mounted on a reproducing device 2 so that contents recorded in the recording medium 1 can be reproduced. Furthermore, a monitor device 3 for displaying a reproduced image is connected to the reproducing device 2 and the reproduction display of video contents can be performed. Also, a controller 4 is connected through a wire or wirelessly to the reproducing device 2 and the start or stop of the reproduction of the contents recorded in the recording medium 1 can be controlled, and the movement of a cursor on a picture displayed on the monitor device 3 can be controlled. 【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、例えばデジタル情報に変換されたミュージックビデオ等のコンテンツの販売に使用して好適なコンテンツの販売方法に関する。詳しくは、コンテンツの配布は記録媒体を用いて行い、その課金にインターネット等のコンピュータネットワークを利用することで良好な販売が行われるようにするものである。

【従来の技術】
例えばミュージックビデオのような映像コンテンツの販売においては、従来からビデオテープやビデオディスク等に映像コンテンツを記録して販売することが行われている。しかしながらこのような販売方法では、一般的な消費者が購買行動を起こし難く、ミュージックビデオ等の販売が充分に行われない要因と言われていたものである。これに対して、インターネット等のコンピュータネットワークを利用してミュージックビデオ等の販売を行うことが考えられている。

すなわちいわゆるブロードバンド等の高速のデータ通信を行うことのできる環境にあっては、このようなネットワークを利用してミュージックビデオ等の伝送を行うことができる。それと共に、任意の課金手段を利用して販売の対価の徴収を行うことができる。そこでこのような手段を用いミュージックビデオ等の販売を行うことが考えられた。これによれば消費者は比較的手軽に購買を行うことができ、ミュージックビデオ等の販売が促進されるものである

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところがこのようなブロードバンドなどの高速のデータ通信を行うことのできる環境は、全ての消費者が所有しているものではない。一方、例えば低速の通信環境でミュージックビデオ等の伝送を行った場合には、伝送のために極めて多くの時間が必要とされ、無為にそのような時間を費やすことは、消費者の購買意欲を著しく損なう恐れが生じるものである。従ってこのような特別な環境の必要とされる販売方法では、充分な販売を行うことができないものであった。

この出願はこのような点に鑑みて成されたものであって、解決しようとする問題点は、従来の方法では、ブロードバンドなどの高速のデータ通信を行うことのできる特別な環境が必要とされ、全ての消費者に対して良好な販売が行われるものではなかったということである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
このため本発明においては、再生に制限の設けられたコンテンツの記録された記録媒体を予め配布すると共に、任意の通信機能でコンピュータネットワーク上の指定されたサイトのサーバーにアクセスして課金処理を行いコンテンツの再生を可能としたものであって、これによれば、高速のデータ通信を行うことのできる特別な環境等に限定されることなく、いわゆる通信環境を有する全ての消費者に対して良好な販売を行うことができる。

【発明の実施の形態】
すなわち本発明においては、再生に制限の設けられたコンテンツの記録された記録媒体を予め配布し、記録媒体が再生装置で再生されたときは任意のタイミングでコンテンツの再生を制限すると共に、再生装置に通信機能が備えられているときはこの通信機能にてコンピュータネットワーク上の指定されたサイトのサーバーにアクセスし、このサイトのサーバーにてコンテンツに対する課金処理を行うものである。

以下、図面を参照して本発明を説明するに、図１には本発明によるコンテンツの販売方法を適用したシステム全体の構成の一実施形態を示す。

図１において、例えばミュージックビデオのようなコンテンツの記録された記録媒体１が無償、若しくはわずかな対価で配布される。ここで、記録媒体１としてはいわゆるＤｉｇｉｔａｌ　Ｖｅｒｓａｔｉｌｅ　Ｄｉｓｋ（以下、ＤＶＤと略称する）を利用することができる。そしてＤＶＤを利用する場合には、記録されたコンテンツの再生に対して任意の制限を行うことができる。すなわち特別な操作なしには、任意のコンテンツの再生ができないようにすることができる。

また上述の記録媒体１の配布手段としては、例えば店頭や街頭で配布したり、雑誌等の刊行物の付録や、特にミュージックビデオの場合には、当該アーチストにより制作されたＣｏｍｐａｃｔ　Ｄｉｓｋ（以下、ＣＤと略称する）等に添付するなどの手段を採ることができる。すなわちこのようにして再生に制限の設けられたコンテンツの記録された記録媒体１を、無償、若しくはわずかな対価で消費者に対して配布することができるものである。

そしてこのようにして配布された記録媒体１が、例えば消費者の手によって、いわゆるＤＶＤ再生装置やゲーム機などの再生装置２に装填されることにより、記録媒体１に記録されたコンテンツの再生が行われる。さらに再生装置２には、例えば再生画像を表示するためのモニタ装置３が接続される。そして再生装置２で再生された再生信号はこのモニタ装置３に供給されて、例えば記録媒体１に記録された映像コンテンツの再生表示が行われる。

また再生装置２には、有線または無線を通じたコントローラ４が接続される。このコントローラ４は、いわゆるゲーム機に設けられるコントローラであり、あるいはＤＶＤ再生装置においてはリモートコントロール装置である。そしてこのようなコントローラ４を用いて、例えば記録媒体１に記録されたコンテンツの再生の開始や停止等の制御が行われると共に、例えばモニタ装置３に表示される画面上のカーソルの移動等の制御が行われる。

一方、再生装置２には、例えば通信回線５が接続される。この通信回線５は、いわゆるプロバイダー６を介してインターネット等のコンピュータネットワーク７に接続されるものである。そして通常はこのコンピュータネットワーク７を通じて、いわゆるインターネット上の各種のサイト等へのアクセスが可能とされるものであるが、本発明においては、このコンピュータネットワーク７を通じて、任意の認証サーバー８や課金サーバー９等のサイトへの接続が行われる。

そして上述のモニタ装置３での再生表示において、任意のタイミングで再生の制限が行われる。すなわちミュージックビデオの場合には、例えばハイライトシーンのような試聴映像の収録されたコンテンツの再生は無制限とされ、全部のシーンの本映像の収録されたコンテンツの再生が制限される。または冒頭シーンのみが再生され、途中からの再生が制限される。あるいは任意のスタート画面のみが表示され、以後の再生がすべて制限されるようにすることも可能である。

さらにこの再生の制限が行われた場合に、モニタ装置３の画面上には例えば図２に示すような画像が表示される。すなわち例えば図２のＡのような試聴映像が再生されている状態で、制限が発動されたときには、画面上に例えば図２のＢのように「ここから先を視聴するのには＊＊＊円かかります。続けますか？」の文章と、「はい／いいえ」の選択肢が表示される。この状態で、例えばコントローラ４の操作によりカーソルが移動され、選択肢の選択が行われる。

そして、まず選択肢の「いいえ」が選択された場合には、再生の制限は解除されず、スタート画面等の基本画面が表示されたり、元のハイライトシーン等の試聴映像が繰り返し再生される。あるいは、ハイライトシーンが複数記録されている場合には、次のハイライトシーンに移動して再生が行われるようにすることもできる。このようにして、選択肢の「いいえ」が選択されている場合には、記録媒体１上で再生に制限の設けられていないコンテンツのみの再生が行われる。

これに対して、選択肢の「はい」が選択された場合には、続けて例えば図２のＣに示すような支払方法選択の画像がモニタ装置３に表示される。すなわち図２のＣにおいて、「支払方法を選択してください。」の文章と、「１．クレジットカード、２．通話料金、３．ＷＥＢＭＯＮＥＹ・・・」等の課金に関する選択肢が表示される。それと共に、例えば再生装置２に通信機能が備えられている場合には、その通信機能が起動される。

そして再生装置２に通信機能が備えられている場合には、コンピュータネットワーク７を通じて所定の認証サーバー８及び課金サーバー９のサイトへの接続が行われる。これによって認証サーバー８からは、例えば図２のＤに示すような画像がダウンロードされ、再生装置２を通じてモニタ装置３に表示される。すなわち図２のＤにおいて、「必要事項を記入してください。」の文章と、「Ｎａｍｅ（名前）、Ｅ−ｍａｉｌ（電子メールアドレス）、Ａｄｄｒｅｓｓ（住所）、ｔｅｌ（電話）、Ｃｒｅｄｉｔ　ｃａｒｄ　Ｎｏ．（クレジットカード番号）」等の記入のためのフォーマットが表示される。

さらにこのフォーマットに対して消費者による必要事項の記入が行われる。この記入された情報は、コンピュータネットワーク７を通じて所定の認証サーバー８及び課金サーバー９のサイトへ送信され、記入された情報の検証が行われる。そして問題がないときは、モニタ装置３に例えば図２のＥに示すような「認証完了」の画像が表示され、ここで「ＯＫ」の選択肢にカーソルが移動されて選択されると、図２のＦに示すように本映像の再生が開始される。

このようにして、再生に制限の設けられたコンテンツの再生が行われる。そしてこの場合に、消費者は所望の選択肢の選択と必要事項の記入のみで、きわめて手軽にコンテンツの使用権の購入を行うことができ、またその際の通信も簡単なテキスト情報の伝送のみであるので、きわめて短時間で通信を完了することができる。これにより消費者は、購買意欲を損なわれることなくコンテンツの購入を行うことができるものである。

なお、上述の必要事項の伝送に当たっては、任意のセキュリティ策が講じられるようにすることができる。また、上述の必要事項の記入に当たっては、フルキーボード等が接続されていれば問題ないが、そのようなキーボードが接続されていない場合であっても、例えばモニタ装置３の画面上にソフトキーボードを表示して、コントローラ４の操作によるカーソルの移動と選択等によって記入を行うことができる。

さらに上述の図２のＢ、Ｃに示された画像や、通信機能を起動してコンピュータネットワーク７を通じて所定の認証サーバー８及び課金サーバー９のサイトへの接続を行うなどの処理は、記録媒体１上の所定の部分にソフトウェアとして設けられる。このためこのような記録媒体１が再生装置２に装填されたときには、最初にこのソフトウェアが読み込まれて再生が開始される。またこの読み込みが行われないときには制限されたコンテンツの再生は行われないものである。

また、上述の認証に当っては、例えば以下のような手順が用いられる。すなわち記録媒体１には、任意の第１の情報キーの元となる情報が設けられている。この第１の情報キーは、記録され記録媒体ごと、若しくは記録媒体の任意の枚数ごと、若しくはコンテンツの内容ごと、若しくは再生装置ごとに異なる情報とされている。そして上述の認証サーバー８及び課金サーバー９のサイトへの接続が行われると、上述の必要事項と共にこの第１の情報キーが認証サーバー８に伝送される。

これにより認証サーバー８では、伝送された第１の情報キーに基づいて課金処理を行うための情報が形成されると共に、この第１の情報キーに応じた第２の情報キーが作成される。さらにこの第２の情報キーが再生装置２に伝送される。そして再生装置２では、この第２の情報キーに従って記録媒体１に記録されたコンテンツの再生が行われる。すなわち伝送された第２の情報キーと第１の情報キーとが比較され、これらが所定の関係のときのみコンテンツの再生が行われる。

このようにして、コンテンツの再生の制限の解除の認証が行われる。またこの認証に関連して、再生の制限の解除は、１回、若しくは任意の複数回、若しくは無制限とすることができる。そしてこのような解除の回数等の解除の条件の情報も、第２の情報キーに含めて認証サーバー８から再生装置２に伝送される。さらにこれらの第２の情報キー及び解除の条件は、再生装置２の内部の記憶装置や着脱可能な外部記憶装置１０に記憶される。

すなわちこのような第２の情報キー及び解除の条件が外部記憶装置１０に記憶されることによって、例えば記録媒体１と外部記憶装置１０を再生装置２から取り出して、他の再生装置で再生するような場合にも、上述の通信で得た解除の条件を用いて、記録媒体１に記録された再生に制限の設けられたコンテンツの再生を行うことができる。また、外部記憶装置１０に記憶される解除の条件が順次書き換えられることにより、解除の回数の総数の制限を行うことができる。

これによって、消費者は、再生に制限の設けられたコンテンツの記録された記録媒体１に対して、一度購入した再生を行う解除の条件を有効に利用して、所望のコンテンツの再生を行うことができる。またこの解除の条件は、記録媒体１の情報を元に生成された第１の情報キーに基づく第２の情報キーと共に用いられることによって、この外部記憶装置１０に記憶された第２の情報キー及び解除の条件が、他の記録媒体の再生に不正に流用されるような事態を防止することができる。

従ってこの実施形態において、再生に制限の設けられたコンテンツの記録された記録媒体を予め配布すると共に、任意の通信機能でコンピュータネットワーク上の指定されたサイトのサーバーにアクセスして課金処理を行ようにしたことによって、高速のデータ通信を行うことのできる特別な環境等に限定されることなく、いわゆる通信環境を有する全ての消費者に対して良好な販売を行うことができる。

これによって、従来の方法では、ブロードバンドなどの高速のデータ通信を行うことのできる特別な環境が必要とされ、全ての消費者に対して良好な販売が行われるものではなかったものを、本発明によればこれらの問題点を容易に解消することができるものである。

さらに上述の実施形態において、再生装置２は通信回線５に接続されており、いわゆるプロバイダー６を介してインターネット等のコンピュータネットワーク７に接続されるものとしたが、本発明は、そのような通信環境を有さない場合にも適用することができる。そこで再生装置２が通信回線５に接続されていない場合には、上述した図２のＣの画像に続いて、例えば図３のＡに示すような画像が表示される。

すなわち図３のＡにおいて、「以下のサイトにて準備キー（第１の情報キー）を入力して、本キー（第２の情報キー）を取得してください。」の文章と、サイトのアドレス及び準備キーと、本キーの入力位置が表示される。そして消費者は、Ｐｅｒｓｏｎａｌ　Ｃｏｍｐｕｔｅｒ（以下、ＰＣと略称する）１１、または携帯電話１２等を通じて指示されたサイトへのアクセスを行い、本キーの取得のための作業が行われる。従ってこの場合には消費者の手順が多少増すことになる。

そこで使用者がＰＣ１１を用いた場合には、指示されたサイトへのアクセスを行うことによって、例えば通信回線５、プロバイダー６及びコンピュータネットワーク７を通じて任意の認証サーバー８や課金サーバー９等のサイトへの接続が行われる。そして認証サーバー８から、例えば図３のＢに示すようなＤＶＤキー取得サイトにアクセスされたことを示す画像がダウンロードされて、ＰＣ１１のディスプレイに表示される。

この図３のＢの画像には、例えば「ＤＶＤキー取得サイト」のタイトルと共に、「以下へ準備キー入力してください。」の文章と、準備キーの入力位置が表示される。そして例えばＰＣ１１のキーボードを用いて準備キーが入力される。さらに準備キーが入力されると、ＰＣ１１のディスプレイには、例えば図３のＣに示すような必要事項入力の画像が表示される。この必要事項入力の画像は、例えば上述の図２のＤに示したフォーマットと同等のものである。

さらにこのフォーマットに対して消費者による必要事項の記入が行われる。この記入された情報は、コンピュータネットワーク７を通じて所定の認証サーバー８及び課金サーバー９のサイトへ送信され、記入された情報の検証が行われる。そして問題がないときは、認証サーバー８で準備キーに基づく本キーが作成され、例えば図３のＤに示すような「以下の本キーを画面上で入力してください。」の文章と、作成された「本キー」がＰＣ１１のディスプレイに表示される。

また、使用者が携帯電話１２を用いた場合には、指示されたサイトへのアクセスを行うことによって、例えば無線回線１３、中継基地１４を通じてコンピュータネットワーク７に接続され、任意の認証サーバー８や課金サーバー９等のサイトへの接続が行われる。そして認証サーバー８から、例えば図３のＥに示すようなＤＶＤキー取得サイトにアクセスされたことを示す画像がダウンロードされて、携帯電話１２のディスプレイに表示される。

この図３のＥの画像には、例えば「ＤＶＤキー取得サイト」のタイトルと共に、「以下へ準備キー入力してください。」の文章が表示される。そして例えば携帯電話１２のキーボードを用いて準備キーが入力されると、携帯電話１２のディスプレイには入力された準備キーが表示される。さらに準備キーが入力されると、携帯電話１２のディスプレイには、例えば図３のＦに示すような必要事項入力の画像が表示される。

ここでコンテンツの購入に対する課金が、例えば携帯電話１２の通話料金に加算して徴収される場合には、この必要事項入力の画像は、例えば図３のＧに示すように「必要事項を記入してください。」の文章と、「Ｎａｍｅ（名前）、Ｐａｓｓ　Ｗａｒｄ（パスワード）」のみで足りることになる。そして消費者によりこれらの必要事項の記入が行われると、まず中継基地１４で記入された情報の検証が行われ、同時に必要な情報の検索が行われる。

そして検証結果に問題がないときは、上述の検索された情報と入力された準備キーが、コンピュータネットワーク７を通じて所定の認証サーバー８及び課金サーバー９のサイトへ送信される。さらにこれらの情報の検証が行われる。そして問題がないときは、認証サーバー８で準備キーに基づく本キーが作成され、例えば図３のＧに示すような「以下の本キーを画面上で入力してください。」の文章と、作成された「本キー」が携帯電話１２のディスプレイに表示される。

そしてこれらのＰＣ１１、若しくは携帯電話１２で取得された本キーが、図３のＡの画像の本キーの入力位置に入力されることによって、本映像の再生が開始される。なお、取得された本キー（第２の情報キー）や、上述した再生の制限の解除の回数等の解除の条件の情報は、例えば再生装置２の内部の記憶装置や着脱可能な外部記憶装置１０に記憶される。このようにして再生に制限の設けられたコンテンツの再生が行われる。

なお、上述の図３のＡに示された画像や、上述のＰＣ１１、若しくは携帯電話１２により本キーを取得するための処理についても、記録媒体１上の所定の部分にソフトウェアとして設けられるものである。このためこのような記録媒体１が再生装置２に装填されたときには、最初にこのソフトウェアが読み込まれて再生が開始される。またこの読み込みが行われないときには制限されたコンテンツの再生は行われない。

こうして上述のコンテンツの販売方法によれば、再生に制限の設けられたコンテンツの記録された記録媒体を予め配布し、記録媒体が再生装置で再生されたときは任意のタイミングでコンテンツの再生を制限すると共に、再生装置に通信機能が備えられているときはこの通信機能にてコンピュータネットワーク上の指定されたサイトにアクセスし、このサイトにてコンテンツに対する課金処理を行い、再生を可能とすることにより、高速のデータ通信を行うことのできる特別な環境等に限定されることなく、いわゆる通信環境を有する全ての消費者に対して良好な販売を行うことができるものである。

なお本発明は、上述の説明した実施の形態に限定されるものではなく、本発明の精神を逸脱することなく種々の変形が可能とされるものである。

【発明の効果】
従って請求項１の発明によれば、再生に制限の設けられたコンテンツの記録された記録媒体を予め配布すると共に、任意の通信機能でコンピュータネットワーク上の指定されたサイトのサーバーにアクセスして課金処理を行ようにしたことによって、高速のデータ通信を行うことのできる特別な環境等に限定されることなく、いわゆる通信環境を有する全ての消費者に対して良好な販売を行うことができるものである。

また、請求項２の発明によれば、記録媒体の情報を元に第１の情報キーが生成され、サイトのサーバーにて第１の情報キーに応じてコンテンツに対する課金処理が行われると共に、課金処理により第２の情報キーが生成され、再生装置にて第２の情報キーに応じてコンテンツの再生の制限が解除されることによって、制限の解除を良好に行うことができるものである。

また、請求項３の発明によれば、第１の情報キーは、記録媒体ごと、若しくは記録媒体の任意の枚数ごと、若しくはコンテンツの内容ごと、及び、再生装置ごとに異なる情報とされることによって、良好な制限を行うことができるものである。

また、請求項４の発明によれば、コンテンツの再生の制限の解除は、１回、若しくは任意の複数回、若しくは無制限とされると共に、第２の情報キー及び解除の条件が再生装置に対して着脱可能な外部記憶装置に記憶されることによって、消費者は一度購入した条件を良好に利用することができるものである。

また、請求項５の発明によれば、再生装置に記録媒体及び外部記憶装置が装着されたときは、外部記憶装置に記憶された第２の情報キー及び解除の条件に従ってコンテンツの再生の制限が解除されることによって、消費者は一度購入した条件を有効に利用することができるものである。

また、請求項６の発明によれば、再生装置に通信機能が備えられていないときは、再生装置のモニタ画面にコンピュータネットワーク上の指定されたサイトのサーバーのアドレスが表示されると共に、再生装置のモニタ画面に記録媒体に記録された第１の情報キーが表示され、任意の通信機能を有する情報機器にてサイトのサーバーにアクセスが行われることにより第１の情報キーに応じてコンテンツに対する課金処理が行われ、課金処理により第２の情報キーが生成されて情報機器に送信され、第２の情報キーが再生装置に入力されることによりコンテンツの再生の制限が解除されることによって、再生装置に通信機能が備えられていないときにも対応することができるものである。

また、請求項７の発明によれば、通信機能にてコンピュータネットワーク上の指定されたサイトのサーバーにアクセスして課金処理に応じるためのソフトウェアが記録媒体に記録されて配布が行われることによって、消費者は記録媒体を再生装置に装填するだけで、容易にコンテンツの購入を行うことができるものである。

これによって、従来の方法では、ブロードバンドなどの高速のデータ通信を行うことのできる特別な環境が必要とされ、全ての消費者に対して良好な販売が行われるものではなかったものを、本発明によればこれらの問題点を容易に解消することができるものである。
