Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a control device for an internal combustion engine, and more particularly, to a control device for an internal combustion engine in which the maximum combustion pressure is reduced at a high rotation speed and a high load to expand an operation range and effectively improve the maximum output. It concerns the device.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In the internal combustion engine, the output (fuel efficiency) can be improved by increasing the maximum combustion pressure by increasing the compression ratio. However, when the maximum combustion pressure is increased, the heat conductivity in the combustion chamber is increased to form the combustion chamber. Since the heat flux to the parts increases, the fuel injection amount is limited by the temperature limit (heat resistance limit) of these parts, and operation in a high load region becomes impossible.
[0003]
On the other hand, if the strength of the combustion chamber components, especially the operating components such as pistons, is increased to raise the temperature limit (heat resistance limit), then the inertia weight and friction increase, and Driving becomes impossible.
Therefore, it is desirable to improve the fuel efficiency by increasing the compression ratio in the low-load and low-speed range, and to improve the maximum output while lowering the compression ratio and expanding the operable range in the high-speed and high-load range. An internal combustion engine whose compression ratio can be changed in accordance with the load and rotation speed of the engine as described above is disclosed, for example, in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 9-228858.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, in recent years, from the viewpoint of exhaust purification, it is common to provide an exhaust purification device for purifying exhaust gas in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine. Attempting to do so causes the following problems.
If the maximum combustion pressure is reduced by lowering the compression ratio at high revolutions, the combustion speed is reduced and the combustion period is extended, so the proportion of fuel burned when the piston is away from the compression top dead center during the expansion stroke increases However, since the combustion energy released into the exhaust gas also increases, the exhaust gas temperature rises. If the exhaust gas temperature rises excessively, the exhaust gas purification device may be damaged by heat. Therefore, the compression ratio is reduced (the maximum combustion pressure is reduced) within a range where the exhaust gas temperature does not reach the upper limit temperature determined according to the exhaust gas purification device. There is a need. That is, since the range in which the maximum combustion pressure can be reduced (the compression ratio can be reduced) is limited by the exhaust gas purification device, a region in which the operation cannot be performed in the high-speed high-load region is generated. There has been a problem that the reduction in the maximum output obtained by the reduction is reduced.
[0005]
The present invention has been made in order to address such a problem, and in the case of a high rotation and a high load, it is possible to eliminate a limit due to a temperature limit of an engine and to expand an operable region to improve a maximum output. It is an object of the present invention to provide a control device for an internal combustion engine.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
For this reason, the control device for an internal combustion engine according to the present invention reduces the maximum combustion pressure and increases the excess air ratio at the time of high rotation and high load.
[0007]
【The invention's effect】
ADVANTAGE OF THE INVENTION According to the control apparatus of the internal combustion engine which concerns on this invention, in a high rotation high load area | region, while reducing the temperature of the combustion chamber components of an engine by the fall of the maximum combustion pressure, the exhaust gas temperature is reduced by increasing the excess air ratio. Therefore, the maximum output point limited by these temperature limits can be improved.
[0008]

Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.

Next, a characteristic operation of the present embodiment will be described.
First, in the present embodiment, in the high rotation / high load region, that is, in the vicinity of the maximum output point, the compression ratio is lowered by lowering the compression top dead center position of the

That is, since the heat transfer coefficient α in the combustion chamber increases as the maximum combustion pressure Pmax increases (see FIG. 2), as the maximum combustion pressure Pmax increases, the components to the combustion chamber components such as the
[0015]
More specifically, as shown in FIG. 3 (history of gas temperature in the combustion chamber near the maximum output point) and FIG. 4 (PV diagram), in the conventional one, that is, in the high rotation and high load operation region. Since the gas temperature and the in-cylinder pressure immediately before ignition are lower than those in which the compression ratio is not reduced, the maximum temperature reaching point and the maximum combustion pressure due to combustion are also reduced. When the maximum combustion pressure decreases, the heat transfer rate from the combustion gas to the combustion chamber components decreases, and the combustion temperature also decreases, so that the heat flow rate decreases. As a result, the temperature of the combustion chamber components also decreases, so that the limitation on the operable region (the limitation on the maximum engine output) can be released.
[0016]
In addition, the weight and simplification of the operating components (such as the piston 5) can be reduced as the maximum combustion pressure decreases, so that the engine can be rotated at a higher speed. That is, it is possible to share the main body system conventionally used in gasoline engines with the compression ignition type engine, and it is also possible to improve the fuel efficiency because the friction is reduced.
[0017]
However, if the maximum combustion pressure is reduced in this way, combustion becomes slow due to low compression and exhaust loss increases, so that the exhaust temperature rises. In particular, when an exhaust gas purification device (not shown) is interposed in the
[0018]
As described above, the region where the maximum combustion pressure can be reduced (the region where the maximum combustion pressure can be reduced) is restricted by the exhaust gas purification device, so that a region where the operation cannot be performed in the high rotation / high load region occurs. As shown in the figure, the increase in the maximum output is reduced. That is, since the maximum combustion pressure can be reduced only to Pmax1 due to the limitation of the maximum combustion pressure reduction possible region, an improvement margin a1 of the maximum output can be obtained. However, if the maximum combustion pressure is reduced to Pmax2, it will be obtained. The improvement allowance a2 (> a1) cannot be obtained, so that the improvement allowance decreases.
[0019]
Therefore, in the present embodiment, the compression ratio is lowered to lower the maximum combustion pressure, and the exhaust temperature is lowered to eliminate the above-mentioned limitation, thereby making it possible to sufficiently secure the increase in the maximum output. Hereinafter, the decrease in the exhaust gas temperature will be described.
First, the relationship between the required engine output Pw and the excess air ratio λ will be described. As shown by the broken line in FIG. 7, in the conventional compression ignition type engine, the excess air ratio λ decreases as the required output Pw increases, and the lower limit thereof is λ = from the limits of black smoke and PM emissions. 1.2 is adopted.
[0020]
Next, the relationship between the exhaust gas temperature Texh and the excess air ratio λ will be described. As shown in FIG. 8, it has been confirmed that the exhaust gas temperature Texh at the time of equal fuel injection, that is, at the time of equal output, decreases by increasing the excess air ratio λ. The amount of decrease in the exhaust gas temperature at this time can be obtained by experiments or the like. However, in this embodiment, when the excess air ratio λ increases by 0.05, the exhaust gas temperature decreases by about 30K.
[0021]
Accordingly, the excess air ratio λ is reduced so that the excess of the exhaust gas temperature caused by lowering the compression ratio (lowering the maximum combustion pressure), which exceeds the upper limit temperature Tu (indicated by t in FIG. 5), is reduced. Is increased (that is, if the intake air amount is increased), it is possible to prevent the exhaust gas temperature Texh from exceeding the upper limit temperature Tu, and to eliminate the above-described limitation by the exhaust gas purification device. As a result, the operable region in the high rotation / high load region can be expanded, and the maximum output can be increased.
[0022]
More specifically, as shown by the solid line in FIG. 7, by increasing the excess air ratio from λ1 to λ2 (> λ1) in a high load region (near the maximum output point), the compression ratio is reduced to maximize the combustion. Even when the pressure is reduced to Pmax2, the exhaust temperature Texh becomes equal to or lower than the upper limit temperature Tu (broken line in FIG. 5), so that it is possible to prevent a reduction in the maximum output increase due to the above-described limitation and increase the maximum output ( See FIG. 6).
[0023]
As described above, in the present embodiment, in the high rotation speed / high load range, the compression ratio is reduced by the compression
[0024]
FIG. 9 is a flowchart of the above-described compression ratio lowering control (that is, control of lowering the maximum combustion pressure) and exhaust gas temperature lowering control (that is, control of increasing the excess air ratio λ). In FIG. 9, in step 1 (referred to as S1 in the figure, the same applies hereinafter), the engine rotation speed Ne and the load T are detected.

The embodiment (first embodiment) described above has the following effects.
(1) The maximum combustion pressure can be reduced by lowering the compression ratio by the variable
(2) Further, since the excess air ratio (intake air amount) is increased so that the exhaust gas temperature becomes equal to or lower than the limit temperature determined according to the exhaust gas purification device, even if the maximum combustion pressure is reduced, the exhaust gas purification device is not used. In addition to reliably avoiding heat loss, it is also possible to operate the exhaust gas purification device in a region limited to avoid heat loss. Thereby, the improvement margin of the maximum output obtained by lowering the maximum combustion pressure can be enjoyed as it is without being reduced by the limitation of the operation region.
