本発明は、金属鋳造品の製造に用いる金属溶湯を溶解保持する溶解保持炉の溶湯漏れ検出方法および溶解保持炉に関する。

【従来の技術】
従来から、例えばダイカストマシン等の鋳造機に供給するための金属溶湯を溶解保持する溶解保持炉がある。溶解保持炉は、一般的に耐火材からなる内層と断熱材からなる外層とを有する炉体を備え、この炉体の内側空間に金属塊を溶解した溶湯を保持するようになっている。このような溶解保持炉では、炉体の内層に熱応力等によりクラック等が発生すると、このクラックを介して溶湯が外部に漏れる場合がある。

そこで、炉体の内層と外層との間に温度センサを埋設し、この温度センサの検出した温度により、溶湯漏れが発生した場合にこの漏れを早期検出しようとするものが知られている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、上記の従来技術の溶解保持炉では、温度センサが設置された局所的な温度しか検出できないため、確実に溶湯漏れを検出しようとすると、多数の温度センサを相互に近接配置して炉体内に埋設する必要があり、溶解保持炉の構造が複雑になり、施工時の工数が大きくなる等の問題がある。

本発明は上記点に鑑みてなされたもので、溶解保持炉の構造がシンプルにでき、しかも確実に溶湯漏れを検出することが可能な溶解保持炉の溶湯漏れ検出方法および溶解保持炉を提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記目的を達成するため、請求項1に記載の発明では、
金属塊(3)を溶解した溶湯(2)を内側に保持する炉体(10)を備える溶解保持炉の溶湯漏れ検出方法であって、
炉体(10)の内部もしくは外側表面の略全域に形成した第1の電極(15)と、炉体(10)の内側の溶湯(2)に浸漬した第2の電極(16)との間の導電状態に基づいて、溶湯(2)の漏れを検出することを特徴としている。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、本発明の実施の形態を図に基づいて説明する。

(第1の実施形態)
図1は、本実施形態の溶解保持炉1の概略構造を示す断面図であり、図2は、炉体内電極15の相互配置関係を示す斜視説明図である。

図1に示すように、本実施形態の溶解保持炉1は、内側に溶湯(本例ではアルミニウム合金の溶湯)の貯留室13を形成する有底円筒状の炉体10を備えている。炉体10は、耐火材からなる内層11と、断熱材からなる外層12とを有している。本例では、内層11は、溶解したアルミニウム合金に対し耐性を有するアルミナを主成分とする非導電性のセラミック耐火物により形成されており、外層12は、断熱性および耐熱性等の特性より、珪酸カルシウムを主成分とする多孔体により形成されている。

炉体10の図中右上側には、直火式のバーナ31を備える投入口30が設けられている。そして、投入口30より投入される金属塊(本例ではアルミニウム合金の金属塊)3をバーナ31により加熱(例えば約650℃に加熱)して溶解させ、炉体10内の貯留室13内に導入するようになっている。

炉体10の上方には、貯留室13の上方側の大部分を覆うように、溶解保持炉1の上壁20が設けられている。そして、この上壁20には、貯留室13に保持されたアルミニウム合金の溶湯2をさらに昇温させ高温(例えば約730℃)で保持するための直火式のバーナ21が配設されている。

炉体10を形成する内層11と外層12との間には、炉体内電極15が配設されている。炉体内電極15は、ステンレスの板材からなるプレート状の電極であり、炉体10の内部の略全域に形成されている。炉体内電極15は、図2に相互の位置関係を示すように、炉体10の円筒部に4枚、底部に1枚の合計5枚の電極に分割して形成され、この5枚の炉体内電極15により内層11の外側面の略全域を覆っている。

炉体10の内側の溶湯供給口14には、貯留室13内の溶湯2に浸漬する部位に、浸漬電極16が配設されている。浸漬電極16は、アルミニウム合金の溶湯2に耐性を有するとともに導電性を有する炭化珪素材からなる電極である。

炉体10の外部側方には、漏れ検出装置40が設けられている。漏れ検出装置40は、5枚の炉体内電極15および1つの浸漬電極16と導電ケーブル41(一部図示省略)により接続され、図示しない内部の電気抵抗計測手段により、各炉体内電極15と浸漬電極16との間の導電状態(電気抵抗値)をそれぞれ検出するようになっている。

次に、上記構成に基づき溶解保持炉1の溶湯漏れ検出方法について説明する。

溶解保持炉1の炉体10の内側に形成された貯留室13に溶湯2が保持された状態において、炉体10の内層11にクラック等が発生しておらず、溶湯2の漏れがない場合には、内層11が非導電性であるので、漏れ検出装置40が検出する炉体内電極15と浸漬電極16との間の電気抵抗値は極めて高抵抗(ほぼ無限大)である。

これに対し、炉体10の内層11にクラック等が発生し、このクラック等を介して貯留室13内の溶湯2が漏れ出した場合には、クラック等の内部を進行した溶湯は、クラック等が発生した領域に形成されている炉体内電極15に到達する。すると、貯留室13内およびクラック等内部の溶湯により、炉体内電極15と浸漬電極16との間が導通可能状態となる。したがって、漏れ検出装置40が検出する炉体内電極15と浸漬電極16との間の電気抵抗値は極めて低抵抗となる。

このようにして、漏れ検出装置40は、炉体内電極15と浸漬電極16との間の電気抵抗値により、炉体10の内層11から溶湯2の漏れが発生しているか否かを検出する。また、漏れ検出装置40は、複数の領域に分割形成された各炉体内電極15と浸漬電極16との間の電気抵抗値をそれぞれ検出しているので、溶湯漏れが発生した領域(クラック等が発生した領域)も検出する。

ここで、貯留室13内の溶湯2の温度が変動するのは、貯留室13内に新たな溶湯が供給されたり、バーナ21の作動により貯留室13内の溶湯2の昇温、高温保持が行なわれる等の理由による。このように貯留室13内の溶湯2の温度が変動すると、内層11を介した熱伝導により、漏れ検出装置140が検出する各熱伝導部材115の温度も変動する。

これに対し、炉体110の内層11にクラック等が発生し、このクラック等を介して貯留室13内の溶湯2が漏れ出した場合には、クラック等の内部を溶湯が熱伝導部材115に向かって進行する。すると、高温の溶湯との距離が短くなることにより、図4に示すB部のように、溶湯が熱伝導部材115に到達する前からクラック等が発生した領域に形成されている熱伝導部材115の温度が上昇する。

熱伝導部材115は、高熱伝導材により形成されているので、溶湯からの熱により溶湯に近接した部分の温度が上昇すると、これを速やかに1枚の熱伝導部材115全体に伝達し、これに取り付けられている熱電対116の起電力を上昇させる。

このようにして、漏れ検出装置140は、熱電対116の起電力を計測し、各熱伝導部材115間の温度差を検出し、これに基づいて、炉体110の内層11から溶湯2の漏れが発生しているか否かを検出するとともに、溶湯漏れが発生した領域(クラック等が発生した領域)を検出する。

上記第1の実施形態では、漏れ検出装置40は、内部の電気抵抗計測手段により、各炉体内電極15と浸漬電極16との間の電気抵抗値をそれぞれ検出するようになっていたが、各炉体内電極15と浸漬電極16との間の導電状態が検出できるものであればよい。例えば、炉体内電極15と浸漬電極16との間に電圧を印加し電流値を検出するものであってもよい。

また、上記第1の実施形態では、炉体内電極15はステンレス材により形成され、浸漬電極16は炭化珪素材により形成されていたが、溶湯に耐性を有するとともに導電性を有する材料であればよい。
