W−CDMA(Wideband Code Division Multiple Access)方式移動無線通信システムにおいては、移動無線通信端末と基地局との同期状態を管理するために、In Sync判定およびOut of Sync判定が移動無線通信端末にて毎フレーム行われ、その判定結果が移動無線通信端末から基地局へと報告される。

同期状態の判定のための基準は以下の2つの異なるフェーズにおいて定義される。

第1フェーズは、上位レイヤより下り個別チャネルの確立が確認されてから160ms後まで続く。第1フェーズでは、In Sync判定のみを行い、Out of Sync判定および報告は行わない。In Sync判定では、直前の40ms間のDPCCH(Dedicated physical control channel) Qualityが閾値Qinより良いならばIn Syncと判定し、上位レイヤに通知する。

第2フェーズは、上位レイヤにより下り個別チャネルの確立が確認されてから160ms後に開始される。この第2フェーズでは、以下の条件のいずれかを満たす場合にOut of Syncと判定する。

このようにIn Sync判定およびOut of Sync判定においては、DPCCH出力のQualityの閾値Qin,Qoutとの比較が行われる、ここでDPCCH出力は、ロールオフフィルタによって隣接チャネル帯域信号の抑制が行われた後のものである。このため、隣接チャネル帯域に十分大きい出力が存在する場合、ロールオフフィルタをかけた後のDPCCH出力は小さくなってしまう。この場合、所望信号が本来はOut of Syncにならない程度の出力であっても、誤ってOut of Syncと判定してしまう恐れがある。また所望信号が本来はIn Syncと判定すべき程度の出力であっても、In Syncと判定されない恐れがある。

また、隣接チャネル帯域信号が存在するかどうかの確認を基地局側からの通知に基づいて行う場合は、報知チャネルでの通知データを抽出し、それを解析しなければならない。このため、確認ができるまでに多くの時間を要する。

以上のように本実施形態によれば、In Sync判定およびOut of Sync判定は、標準閾値Qin,Qoutを比率Pnchにより補正して得られる補正閾値Qin’,Qout’を使用して行う。このため、フレーム平均Priとフレーム平均Proとの比率kが小さいほど低い閾値を使用して、また比率kが大きいほど高い閾値を使用してInSync判定およびOut of Sync判定が行われることとなる。隣接チャネルがある場合にはDPCCHに関する受信信号のパワー値が小さくなってしまうため従来のような固定的な閾値のままだとOut of Syncになり易く、かつIn Syncに復帰しづらくなるが、隣接チャネル帯域の信号成分の電力レベルの比率が大きくなることで閾値が低い値とされるために、このような状況ではOut of Syncとなりにくく、かつ仮にOut of Syncに陥ったとしても再びIn Syncに戻りやすくなるようにIn Sync判定およびOut of Sync判定の動作が調整される。そしてこの結果、In Sync判定およびOut of Sync判定が従来よりも広い条件下において適正に行うことが可能となる。そしてこれにより、同期外れを起こりにくくし、かつ同期外れからの復帰も素早く行えるため、長い間同期状態を保ち、より良い品質での通信を行うことが可能となる。
