Abstract
Description
【0001】
ここに開示された方式では、ACK(ACKnowledgment)信号およびNACK(Negative ACKnowledgment)信号の頻度に基づいて符号化を変更することによりスループットの向上を狙っている。
【0006】
IEEE VTS 54th, Vol.4, 2001, ”Hybrid ARQ Protocols Using Space−Time Codes”, Van Nguyen, A.; Ingram, M. A.に提示された方法が知られている。

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a wireless communication system, a wireless transmission device, and a wireless reception device. In particular, it relates to a retransmission method in multi-antenna transmission.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, as a method of transmitting different encoded symbols from a plurality of transmission antennas, there is known STC (Space-Time Coding) disclosed in US Pat. No. 6,115,427. The STC is a technology that combines coding and transmission diversity, and performs radio transmission of time-space coded (space-time coded) substreams from a plurality of transmission antennas at the same time using the same frequency, thereby achieving frequency utilization efficiency. In addition, the transmission speed per unit time can be increased.
[0003]
A receiving apparatus that receives a signal transmitted using STC estimates channel characteristics of a propagation path corresponding to each pair of a transmitting antenna and a receiving antenna using pilot symbols included in the received signal, and receives different fadings. The received signal on which the time-space coded substream is superimposed is decoded based on the determined channel characteristics, and information bits are extracted.
[0004]
On the other hand, an automatic repeat request (ARQ) has been known as an error control method in wireless communication. In addition, a scheme in which the wireless receiving apparatus performs the decoding process using both the packet at the time of the initial transmission and the packet at the time of retransmission is particularly called HARQ (Hybrid ARQ).
[0005]
As an example of efficient HARQ in wireless communication, one disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 10-22984 is known. The scheme disclosed herein aims to improve the throughput by changing the encoding based on the frequency of an ACK (ACKnowledgement) signal and a NACK (Negative ACKnowledgement) signal.
[0006]
Also, as an example of a technique combining the above STC and HARQ, that is, an example of a technique using the HARQ scheme in the STC, Vehicular Technology Conference, VTC 2001 Fall. IEEE VTS 54th, Vol. 4, 2001, "Hybrid ARQ Protocols Using Space-Time Codes", Van Nguyen, A. et al. Ingram, M .; A. Are known. In this method, a space-time code is punctured at the time of initial transmission, and only information bits and one parity bit are transmitted, and at the time of retransmission, only different types of parity bits and information bits are transmitted. This aims to increase the throughput.
[0007]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the wireless communication to which the HARQ scheme is applied in the conventional STC, for example, when a certain space-time coded substream is greatly affected by fading of a propagation path at the time of initial transmission, the received power is significantly reduced. However, even at the time of retransmission, since the transmission power distribution to each space-time coded substream is constant, the coding gain does not improve much on the receiving side, and as a result, retransmission is repeated, and the throughput decreases. There is a problem.
[0008]
Also, in STC, instantaneous correlation occurs between combined propagation path characteristics of each time-space coded substream in a signal point arrangement of a signal obtained by power-combining a signal of initial transmission and a signal of retransmission during retransmission. In some cases, symbol positions are close to each other. As a result, the space-time decoding capability is reduced, and as a result, retransmission is repeated, resulting in a problem that the throughput is reduced.
[0009]
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and has been made in consideration of a wireless communication system, a wireless transmission device, and a wireless reception device that can improve decoding characteristics on a reception side and can improve throughput of wireless communication. The purpose is to provide.
[0010]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The wireless communication system of the present invention is a transmitting device that wirelessly transmits data simultaneously using a plurality of transmission systems, and a transmitting device that performs wireless transmission by changing a transmission method in each transmission system when retransmitting the data, A receiving apparatus that receives a signal wirelessly transmitted from the transmitting apparatus and superimposed via a plurality of different propagation paths, wherein the transmitting apparatus retransmits the data based on characteristics of the plurality of different propagation paths. At this time, the transmission method in each transmission system is changed.
[0011]
In the wireless communication system of the present invention, in the above configuration, the transmission method is a retransmission data encoding method, a puncture pattern of retransmission data, an interleave pattern, transmission power, or the number of antennas used for transmission.
[0012]
According to these configurations, since the data transmission method is changed on the transmission side according to the characteristics of the propagation path, the decoding performance can be improved on the reception side, and the throughput of wireless communication can be improved.
[0013]
A wireless communication system according to the present invention is a wireless communication system in which different encoded symbols are distributed to a plurality of transmission antennas and wirelessly transmitted at the same time and using the same frequency. Means for transmitting the received signal to the wireless receiving apparatus, means for decoding the signal received by the wireless receiving apparatus and checking for a transmission error, and a pair of a transmitting antenna of the wireless transmitting apparatus and a receiving antenna of the wireless receiving apparatus. [0015]
According to these systems, since the encoding method is changed based on the propagation path information, for example, in the wireless communication using STC, feedback of the propagation path information can be used to provide an efficient HARQ scheme.
[0016]
The wireless communication system of the present invention, in the above configuration, means for determining a power level difference from a power level of each propagation path corresponding to each pair of a transmitting antenna of the wireless transmitting apparatus and a receiving antenna of the wireless receiving apparatus; A comparison means for comparing the power level difference with a threshold value and a configuration for determining a transmission method at the time of data retransmission based on a comparison result of the comparison means are adopted.
[0017]
In the wireless communication system of the present invention, in the above-described configuration, when the power level difference is larger than the threshold, the wireless transmission apparatus performs encoding in which power distribution to coded symbols is changed, and performs the wireless reception. A configuration for resending to the device is adopted.
[0018]
In the wireless communication system of the present invention, in the above-described configuration, the wireless transmission device compares the power level difference with a threshold to determine an encoding method at the time of retransmission. A configuration is used in which a notification is sent from the device to the wireless receiving device.
[0019]
In the wireless communication system of the present invention, in the above-described configuration, a comparison between the power level difference and a threshold value is performed in the wireless reception device to determine an encoding method at the time of retransmission, and the encoding method at the time of retransmission is determined by the wireless reception. A configuration is adopted in which a device notifies the wireless transmission device.

Retransmission method
[0074]
According to the above configuration, the radio transmitting apparatus can determine the space-time code, the modulation scheme, and the transmission power at the time of packet retransmission based on the propagation path characteristic information notified from the radio receiving apparatus.
[0075]
As a more specific example of the configuration of the wireless transmission device, a case where a space-time turbo code with a coding rate R = 1/3 is used as the space-time code will be described. FIG. 4 is a block diagram showing a configuration of the wireless transmission device. The same components as those in FIG. 3 are denoted by the same reference numerals, and description thereof will be omitted.
[0076]
A feature of this wireless transmission apparatus is that three space-time encoders 103-1 to 103-3 shown in FIG. 3 internally include turbo code interleavers 121-1 to 121-2 and RSC encoders 122-1 to 122-4. , And a turbo code deinterleaver 123-1 to 123-2.
[0077]
The transmission data sequence input to space-time encoder 103-1 is divided into three signal systems, subjected to the following processing, and output to space-time
[0078]
The space-time encoders 103-2 and 103-3 also have three signal systems similarly to the space-time encoder 103-1. However, the space-time encoder 103-2 has three signal systems included in the space-time encoder 103-1. In the third system among the signal systems, the transmission data sequence is output as it is, and the space-time encoder 103-3 is one of the three signal systems included in the space-time encoder 103-1. In the second system, the transmission data sequence is output as it is.

When the first packet transmission fails, the average receiving power level of each propagation path corresponding to the pair of the transmitting antenna and the receiving antenna is notified from the wireless receiving device together with the NACK signal. Retransmission method
[0081]
FIG. 5A is a diagram illustrating an example of the average received power at the time of the first packet transmission.
[0082]
For example, as shown in this figure, the reception power level on the receiving side of the information bits (systematic bits; S) transmitted by the antenna 102-1 drops significantly, and the parity bit 1 (P1) transmitted by the antenna 102-2 ) Is the highest and the difference between these power levels is equal to or greater than the threshold, retransmission method setting
[0083]
With the above configuration, when the received signal at the time of the first transmission and the received signal at the time of retransmission are combined, there is a possibility that the power level of the information bit is secured in the combined signal as compared with a case where the signal is simply retransmitted and combined. Will be higher. In particular, it is effective to perform phase rotation so that the information bit component included in the received signal at the time of the first transmission and the information bit component included in the received signal at the time of retransmission coincide with each other, and to perform equal gain combining. Here, although the combination of the coded symbols included in the received signal at the time of the first transmission and the combination of the coded symbols included in the received signal at the time of retransmission are different, they can be power-combined as they are.

FIG. 7 is a flowchart showing a processing procedure of the wireless communication method according to the present embodiment.
[0096]
In step (hereinafter, referred to as ST) 1010 illustrated in FIG. 7, the wireless transmitting apparatus transmits the packet to the wireless receiving apparatus by STC. Next, the radio receiving apparatus performs space-time decoding on the packet (ST1020). As a result of the space-time decoding, it is determined whether or not the packet transmission has succeeded by a CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Code) check or the like (ST1030). Then, an ACK (transmission acknowledgment) signal is returned to and the process ends (ST1040).
[0097]
If a failure in packet transmission is confirmed in ST 1030, the wireless reception device transmits a NACK (retransmission request response) signal and information on propagation path characteristics to the wireless transmission device (ST 1050).
[0098]
The radio transmitting apparatus obtains the maximum value of the received power level difference from the received power level of each propagation path corresponding to each pair of the transmitting antenna and the receiving antenna of the radio receiving apparatus, and compares it with a predetermined threshold (ST1060). If the maximum value of the power level difference is equal to or smaller than the threshold, the packet is retransmitted by the same transmission method as in the first transmission (ST1070), and if larger than the threshold, the coded symbol having the lower received power level in the first transmission Then, the power distribution is changed so as to give more transmission power, and the packet is retransmitted (ST 1080).
[0099]
The radio receiving apparatus performs power combining processing on the received packet at the time of the first transmission and the received packet at the time of retransmission (ST1090), and performs space-time decoding on the combined packet again.
[0100]
As described above, according to the present embodiment, based on the propagation path characteristic information notified from the wireless reception device, a coding method of retransmission data at the time of packet retransmission, a puncture pattern of retransmission data, an interleave pattern, transmission power, Alternatively, a transmission method such as the number of antennas used for transmission can be determined, and the throughput in wireless communication can be improved.
[0101]
Here, as a method in which the wireless transmission apparatus changes the power distribution at the time of packet retransmission, a case where the allocation of coded symbols is changed by puncturing has been described as an example. Thus, the transmission power can be changed for each transmission antenna. That is, as shown in FIG. 8A, when the reception power level on the receiving side of the information bit (S) transmitted by the antenna 102-1 is greatly reduced at the time of the first transmission, when the transmission antenna 102- By changing the transmission power for each of 1 to 102-3, the transmission power level of the information bit (S) is increased, and the transmission power levels of the parity bit 1 (P1) and the parity bit 2 (P2) are set low. May be. At this time, the reception power level is expected to be as shown in FIG.
[0102]
Also, here, a case has been described as an example in which propagation path characteristic information is notified to a wireless transmission device together with a NACK signal. However, in a communication system in which no notification of an ACK signal is triggered by a packet retransmission in a wireless transmission device, The reception power level information of the propagation path may be added to the ACK signal.
[0103]
Furthermore, here, the case has been described as an example where the radio receiving apparatus notifies the radio transmission apparatus of propagation path characteristic information and the radio transmission apparatus determines a transmission method at the time of packet retransmission based on the propagation path characteristic information. The wireless receiving apparatus may determine the transmission method at the time of packet retransmission based on the propagation path characteristic information, and may notify the wireless transmitting apparatus of the determined transmission method.

FIG. 10 is a block diagram showing an example of the configuration of the radio transmission apparatus according to
[0112]
A feature of the present embodiment is that a

[0114]
When the first packet transmission fails, a NACK signal is notified from the wireless reception device. The wireless transmission device performs retransmission using a puncture pattern different from that at the time of the first transmission. At this time, a part of the substream selected at the first transmission is punctured, and a part of the punctured substream is transmitted at the first transmission. For example, in FIG. 10, one of the three substreams selected at the time of the first transmission is replaced with a punctured one at the first transmission and retransmitted.
[0115]
When the power of the first reception signal and the retransmission reception signal is combined on the receiving side, four substreams are superimposed on the combined signal. This means that a received signal equivalent to a case where four substreams are transmitted from four transmission antennas can be obtained.
[0116]
Here, the combination of the space-time coded substream included in the received signal at the time of the first transmission and the combination of the space-time coded substream included in the received signal at the time of retransmission are different, but these are power-combined as they are, It is possible to combine the gains of the received signals and improve the characteristics by space-time decoding at a substantially low coding rate.
[0117]
In the above, especially when the space-time coding is a space-time turbo code, the sub-stream including information bits is not subjected to puncturing in the radio transmission apparatus, and the phase of the sub-stream including the information bits is changed in the radio reception apparatus every retransmission. When power combining is performed so as to be uniform, the power level of information bits increases and the number of parity bits increases each time retransmission is performed, so that characteristics can be effectively improved.
[0118]
Next, the operation of the wireless transmission device having the above configuration will be described.
[0119]
FIG. 11 is a flowchart showing a processing procedure of the wireless communication method according to the present embodiment.
[0120]
The radio transmitting apparatus performs space-time coding at a lower rate than that used for actual transmission (ST3010), and selects parity used for initial transmission by puncturing (ST3020). Then, while transmitting the punctured packet, the puncturing pattern is notified to the radio receiving apparatus (ST3030).
[0121]
The radio receiving apparatus performs space-time decoding on the packet (ST3040). As a result of the space-time decoding, it is determined by a CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Code) check or the like whether or not the packet transmission was successful (ST3050). End (ST3060).
[0122]
If packet transmission failure is confirmed in ST 3050, a NACK signal is returned from the wireless reception device to the wireless transmission device (ST 3070). When retransmitting a packet, the radio transmitting apparatus selects a puncture pattern different from that used for the first transmission and performs puncturing (ST3080), and simultaneously retransmits the packet and notifies the radio receiving apparatus of the puncture pattern to be used (ST3090). .
[0123]
The radio receiving apparatus performs power combining processing on the received signal at the time of the initial transmission and the received signal at the time of retransmission (ST3100), and performs space-time decoding processing on the power-combined received signal (ST3110). As a result of the space-time decoding, it is determined whether or not the packet transmission is successful by a CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Code) check or the like (ST3050). If the packet transmission is confirmed to be successful, the process ends. When the failure of the packet transmission is confirmed, the retransmission processing is repeated.
[0124]
As described above, according to the present embodiment, the output of low-rate space-time coding is punctured in the wireless transmission device, the puncturing pattern at the time of retransmission is changed and transmitted, and the received signal is power-combined in the wireless reception device. As a result, space-time decoding can be performed at a substantially low coding rate, so that space-time decoding characteristics can be improved and throughput at the time of retransmission can be improved.

FIG. 13 is a block diagram showing an example of a configuration of a wireless reception device according to Embodiment 5 of the present invention. [0132]
A feature of the present embodiment is that it has a plurality of different retransmission packet combining systems.
[0133]
Next, the operation of the wireless receiving apparatus having the above configuration will be described.
[0134]
At the time of the first transmission of the packet, the received signal is input to the space-
[0135]
FIG. 14 is a flowchart showing a processing procedure of the wireless communication method according to the present embodiment.
[0136]
The packet is transmitted from the wireless transmission device by STC (ST5010). Next, the wireless receiving apparatus performs space-time decoding on the packet (ST5020). As a result of the space-time decoding, it is determined whether or not the packet transmission has succeeded by a CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Code) check or the like (ST5030). If the packet transmission has been successfully confirmed, the process ends.
[0137]
If packet transmission failure is confirmed, the packet is retransmitted from the wireless transmission device based on a request from the wireless reception device (ST5040). In the radio receiving apparatus, power combining processing is performed on the received signal at the time of initial transmission and received signal at the time of retransmission (ST5050), and space-time decoding processing is performed on the power-combined received signal (ST5060). As a result of the space-time decoding, it is determined whether or not the packet transmission is successful by a CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Code) check or the like (ST5070). If the packet transmission is confirmed to be successful, the process ends.
[0138]
If packet transmission failure is confirmed, the packet at the time of retransmission is subjected to space-time decoding processing alone (ST5080), and the likelihood of each bit is calculated. The likelihood of the space-time decoding result of the first transmission packet and the likelihood of the space-time decoding result of the retransmission packet are combined, and decoding determination of a coded symbol is performed using the combined likelihood (ST5090). As a result of the space-time decoding, it is determined whether or not the packet transmission is successful by a CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Code) check or the like (ST5100). If the packet transmission is confirmed to be successful, the process ends. When the failure of the packet transmission is confirmed, the retransmission processing is repeated.
[0139]
The effect of the procedure described above will be described. In HARQ in STC, by performing received signal power combining in a wireless receiving apparatus, there may be cases where a received signal candidate point after combining is close and a determination error is likely to occur. This is because instantaneous correlation occurs in the respective propagation path characteristics after the combination, and may occur even when the power level of the combined signal is secured.
[0140]
FIG. 15 shows an example in which the received signal candidate points are close on the IQ plane even when the received power level is secured. The configuration of the wireless transmission apparatus is the same as that of the first embodiment, and propagation path characteristics corresponding to each transmission antenna are represented by vectors S, P1, and P2 in FIG. The black points represent the received signal candidate points. In the example of FIG. 15, since the instantaneous correlation occurs between S and P2, it can be seen that the received signal candidate points are close to each other.
[0141]
