Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily change a rear holder in a proper engagement state into a tentative engagement state from a housing body by using an extraction tool.
SOLUTION: When the rear holder 2 is released from the proper engagement state with the housing body 1, a screwdriver-like extraction tool T is inserted from a slit 26 of a spring piece 24, and its tip is brought into contact with the rear part of a second locking projection 12 along a guide slot 12b of the locking projection 12 of the housing body 1. Then, when the spring piece 24 is pressingly expanded outward by the lever action of the extraction tool T, a first locking projection 27 is disengaged from the locking projection 12. When an opposite-side first locking projection 27 of the rear holder 2 is similarly released from the locking projection 12, and the rear holder 2 is extracted, it is brought into the tentative engagement state.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO

Description

【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an electrical connector housing that can be used for, for example, a wire harness of an automobile.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In this type of conventional electrical connector housing, a plurality of connection terminals connected to electric wires are inserted into the housing body from the rear, and the connection terminals are locked by locking arms provided in the housing body, and are simultaneously mounted at the rear of the housing body. In many cases, the connection terminal is locked by a part of the engaged rear holder.
[0003]
On the other hand, the housing main body and the rear holder are engaged at a temporary engagement position where the rear holder is inserted into the housing main body almost to the middle, and at a full engagement position where the rear holder is sufficiently pushed into the housing main body. In some cases, the connection terminal is inserted into the housing body and the connection terminal is locked at the full engagement position.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, when it is necessary to return the rear holder from the fully locked state to the temporarily locked state, it is extremely troublesome to release the rear holder from the fully engaged state. Also, it may be difficult to know whether the rear holder is securely engaged with the housing body.
[0005]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to solve the above-mentioned problems and to provide an electric connector housing that can easily deviate a rear holder from a full engagement state to a temporary engagement position and check the engagement state. .
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
An electric connector housing according to the present invention for achieving the above object has a housing body made of a synthetic resin that accommodates a connection terminal connected to an electric wire from the rear, and a housing for the connection terminal that engages with a rear part of the housing body. A rear holder made of a synthetic resin for preventing the housing body from slipping out of the housing body, wherein the housing body and the rear holder are located at a position where the rear holder is inserted substantially halfway in the axial direction with respect to the housing body and the connection is established. The terminal is engaged at a temporary engagement position allowing insertion into the housing main body, and at a full engagement position at a position where the rear holder is sufficiently pushed in to prevent the connection terminal from coming out of the housing main body. In the electrical connector housing, a housing-side locking portion protruding laterally at a rear end of the housing body. An L-shaped resilient piece having a tip directed outwardly on a side of the rear holder, and a rear holder-side engagement member that is provided inside the resilient piece with a locking projection that locks with the housing-side locking portion. A stop portion is formed, and a slit is formed in the L-shaped bent portion of the resilient piece.
[0007]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
The present invention will be described in detail based on the illustrated embodiment.
1 and 2 are side views of a housing main body 1 and a rear holder 2 according to the embodiment, respectively. The housing main body 1 has a plurality of terminal housing chambers (not shown) partitioned by partitions for housing a plurality of connection terminals to which electric wires are connected. The rear holder 2 is engaged with the rear part of the housing main body 1 to prevent the connection terminals housed in the housing main body 1 from coming off. The housing body 1 and the rear holder 2 are each formed of a synthetic resin material.
[0008]
The holder main body 21 of the rear holder 2 has a terminal insertion hole through which the connection terminal is inserted, and a flexible locking arm 22 that enters the terminal accommodating chamber of the housing main body 1 and locks the connection terminal individually. , As shown in FIG. Further, flanges 23 are formed at upper and lower portions of a rear edge of the holder main body 21 so as to abut against upper and lower outer walls of the housing main body 1, and both sides of the holder main body 21 have an L-shaped cross section with an end directed outward. A resilient piece 24 made of a plate is fixed to the holder body 21 at two upper and lower locations.
[0009]
An L-shaped outwardly protruding portion 25 is formed at the rear free end of the resilient piece 24. A central portion of the resilient piece 24 on the base side is peeled off at a predetermined width in the up-down direction, and a slit 26 that is peeled off at almost the same width inside the L-shaped corner of the resilient piece 24 is formed. Thereby, a substantially trapezoidal first locking projection 27 is formed inside the resilient piece 24 as shown in FIG. The first locking projection 27 has a substantially trapezoidal shape, a surface facing the housing body 1 is an arc surface 27a, and a surface opposite to the housing body 1 is a vertical surface 27b.
[0010]
Further, on the side of the housing main body 1, a door pocket portion 11 for receiving the resilient pieces 24 of the rear holder 2 is provided in a frame shape. On the both sides of the rear side of the housing main body 1, a second locking projection 12 having a substantially rectangular cross section is formed so as to face outward, and a front edge 12a of the second locking projection 12 is the first locking projection 12a. The vertical surface 27b of the locking projection 27 is engaged in the horizontal direction. A guide groove 12b of a jig is formed on the surface of the second locking projection 12 in a horizontal direction.
[0011]
When inserting the connection terminal into the housing main body 1, the locking arm 22 of the rear holder 2 is inserted into the terminal accommodating chamber along the axial direction of the housing main body 1 as shown in FIG. Thereby, as shown also in FIG. 5, the left and right resilient pieces 24 of the rear holder 2 fit into the door pocket portion 11 of the housing body 1, and the locking arms 22 are slightly inserted into the respective terminal accommodating chambers. However, the arcuate surface 27a of the first locking projection 27 of the rear holder 2 abuts on the rear edge of the second locking projection 12 of the housing body 1, and the rear holder 2 is engaged with the temporary engagement position with the housing body 1. .
[0012]
In this state, when the connection terminals (not shown) to which the electric wires are connected are inserted into the terminal accommodating chamber of the housing main body 1 through the terminal insertion holes of the rear holder 2, each connection terminal moves forward while bending the locking arm 22 of the rear holder 2. At a predetermined position in the terminal accommodating chamber.
[0013]
After all the connection terminals have been inserted into the housing body 1, the rear holder 2 is pushed forward while being pressed with fingers. As a result, the first locking projection 27 of the rear holder 2 is pushed outward by the arcuate surface 27a at the front thereof and is bent at the base of the resilient piece 24 as shown in FIG. The first locking projection 27 is restored when the second locking projection 12 is mounted on the second locking projection 12, and is brought into the fully engaged state as shown in FIGS. In this state, the connection terminals are pushed to the proper positions by the locking arms 22 of the rear holder 2 and the base of the holder main body 21, and the respective connection terminals are fixed by the locking arms 22, and are moved backward by the base of the holder main body 21. The retaining is prevented.
[0014]
In this state, the rear holder 2 can be reliably held at the full engagement position. In addition, this full engagement state can be confirmed by visually confirming that the first locking projection 27 is locked to the second locking projection 12 as shown in FIG. In addition, if the housing main body 1 and the rear holder 2 are made of different materials, visual recognition becomes easy.
[0015]
When removing the rear holder 2 from the housing main body 1, a driver-like extraction jig T is inserted through the slit 26 of the resilient piece 24 as shown in FIG. The front end of the second locking projection 12 abuts along the guide groove 12b of the second locking projection 12. Subsequently, as shown in FIG. 11, the resilient piece 24 is pushed outward by the leverage of the extracting jig T, and the resilient piece 24 is pulled out from the door pocket portion 11. The projection 27 comes off the second locking projection 12. Similarly, when the first locking projection 27 on the opposite side of the rear holder 2 is removed from the second locking projection 12 and the rear holder 2 is pulled out, as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 through the state of FIG. It can be a combined state.
[0016]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, in the electrical connector housing according to the present invention, the rear holder-side locking portion of the rear holder is locked to the housing-side locking portion of the housing main body at the full engagement position, and the jig is used to remove the rear holder. The full engagement state can be released by expanding the side locking portion outward, and the engagement state can be confirmed.
