この発明は、ヘッドランプやフォグランプなどの光源として使用される自動車用放電電球にかかるものである。特に、この発明は、金属箔と電極との接続性が良く加工製造が容易である自動車用放電電球に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
この種の自動車用放電電球としては、たとえば、実開平3−40756号公報に記載のもの、特開2001−210272号公報に記載のもの、特開2001−210273号公報に記載のものなどがある。以下、従来の自動車用放電電球について図9および図10を参照して説明する。従来の自動車用放電電球Bは、一般に、ガラス管1と、2枚の金属箔2と、2本の電極3と、2本のリード線4とを備える。

前記ガラス管1は、中央部のほぼ球形状の発光部5と、この発光部5の両端に一体に設けられている2個のピンチシール部6とを有する。前記発光部5中には、1個の放電空間7が形成されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところが、従来の自動車用放電電球Bにおいては、電極3が丸棒(線)からなるので、金属箔2と電極3との接触がほぼ線接触となる。このために、従来の自動車用放電電球Bは、金属箔2と電極3との接触面積が大きくないので、金属箔2と電極3との接続性上、加工製造上に課題がある。

上記の目的を達成するために、請求項1にかかる発明は、電極の金属箔と接続する端部を板形状にする、ことを特徴とする。

(実施の形態の構成の説明)
図1および図2中、図9および図10と同符号は、同一のものを示す。図1〜図4において、符号8は、この実施の形態にかかる自動車用放電電球B1の電極である。

前記電極8は、図1〜図4に示すように、板構造および折板構造をなす。すなわち、電極8は、長さが若干長い、たとえば、タングステン製の第1板部9と、長さが若干短い、同じく、タングステン製の第2板部10とから構成されている。前記第1板部9と前記第2板部10とは、折り曲げられている。

(実施の形態の作用効果の説明)

また、前記の実施の形態において、ガラス管1またはおよび2重ガラス管構造の外ガラス管に、たとえば、青色や黄色などの着色塗装を施しても良い。この着色塗装により、放電アークによる発光部5からの光(可視光)の色温度を任意に変化(上昇、降下)させることができる。たとえば、発光部5からの光を、人間の目に最も感度が良い光の1つである白色光(太陽光)に、または、感度が若干低下するがデザイン上の差別化が図られる青色光に、または、フォグランプに適した黄色光などに、変化させることができる。
