Description
【0001】
cos(φin)/cos(φout)
cos(φout)/cos(φin)
sinφ1=n×sinφ2
n×sinφ3=sinφ4
φout=90−α−arcsin(n×sin(90−α−arcsin(sinφin/n)))
cos(φin)/cos(φout)
cos(φout)/cos(φin)

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a head-up display that can be used in vehicles such as automobiles.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In the future, diversification and multiplication of in-vehicle display information will progress, and it is expected that demand for an image HMI (Human Machine Interface) that is excellent in visibility and less in driver burden will be further increased. In particular, there is a growing need in the field of safe driving support such as visual assistance information and visual information as display contents, and in order to transmit these more effectively, head-up displays capable of large-screen display, distant display, and superimposed display Is desirable.
[0003]
Conventionally, there is a head-up display of this type shown in FIG. The

Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 6-55957 discloses an optical unit including a display and N (for example, three) deflecting means, and an optical path between the display and the first deflecting means. A head-up display is disclosed in which an optical path between the head and the third deflecting means intersects in a horizontal plane.
[0007]
However, the optical path width in the deflecting means immediately before the light beam is emitted from the optical unit needs to have an optical path width equal to d2 after all. Furthermore, since a large number of deflecting means are used, it is not always possible to sufficiently meet the demand for miniaturization in consideration of their arrangement locations.
[0008]
Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 9-318906 discloses a head-up display in which a transparent member made of resin or glass is molded into a block shape, and light is reciprocated in the block to reduce the size.
However, also in this case, the optical path width in the deflecting unit immediately before the light beam is emitted from the optical unit needs to have an optical path width equal to d2 after all. Furthermore, it is very difficult to mold this block uniformly without optical stagnation.
[0009]
Therefore, the present invention has been made in view of the above points, and provides a head-up display capable of displaying a virtual image far away on a large screen and displaying a virtual image which is easy for a user to view, while miniaturizing the optical unit. The purpose is to do.
[0010]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The head-up display according to any one of
[0011]
For example, as shown in FIG. 3, when the optical path is bent by the prism sheet such that the output angle is φout with respect to the incident angle φin, the optical path width required before the light enters the
Only reduced. Therefore, for example, each part of the optical unit whose size is limited by the optical path width can be reduced in size, and the optical unit can be reduced in size.
[0012]
Conversely, when using an optical unit the same size as a conventional head-up display, the width of the virtual image is
cos (φout) / cos (φin)
Only expanded. Therefore, when the same size as the optical unit of the conventional head-up display is maintained, a larger screen can be displayed. Therefore, it is possible to display a virtual image that is easy for the user to see.
[0013]
In addition, an optical element such as a reflecting mirror (for example, a concave mirror) may be arranged in the optical path between the display and the reflecting means, similarly to the conventional head-up display. For example, a configuration may be employed in which a reflecting mirror is provided as an optical element, light reflected by the reflecting mirror is made incident on a prism sheet, and light emitted from the prism sheet is projected on a reflecting means. In this case, since the required optical path width can be reduced as described above, the optical path width required for the reflecting mirror can be reduced, and the reflecting mirror can be downsized.
[0014]
Moreover, the prism sheet added to the conventional head-up display is formed in a sheet shape, and is small and lightweight. For example, the prism sheet may be formed by forming a saw-toothed protrusion on one side of a transparent substrate such as plastic or glass so that each of the sawtooth-shaped protrusions functions as a prism.
[0015]
The reflecting means is a transmissive reflecting means such as a windshield or a combiner, so that a virtual image can be displayed by being superimposed on external light.
In the head-up display according to the first aspect, the apex angle of the prism portion of the prism sheet is asymmetric with respect to the normal direction of the prism sheet. Therefore, light use efficiency can be increased and brightness can be improved, and blurring of a displayed image can be suppressed. For example, as shown in FIG. 12A, when a general prism sheet is used in which the apex angle of the prism portion is symmetric with respect to the normal direction, light is not transmitted through the hatched portion in the drawing. For this reason, the light use efficiency is reduced, and the displayed image is blurred. Therefore, in order to reduce this area as much as possible, the inclined surface (the II plane in the drawing) which is not the light emission surface of the prism portion is preferably made as parallel as possible to the optical path in the prism. It is good to constitute it asymmetric with respect to the normal direction.
[0016]
In particular, it is preferable that the inclination direction of at least one inclined surface of the prism portion of the prism sheet is substantially parallel to the direction of the light beam passing through the inside of the prism. For example, as shown in FIG. 12B, the direction of inclination of the II plane is made parallel to the direction of a light beam passing through the inside of the prism. In this way, as shown by the hatched portions in FIG. Therefore, the light use efficiency can be increased, the brightness of the display image (virtual image) can be improved, and blurring of the display image can be suppressed. Therefore, it is possible to display a virtual image that is easy for the user to see.
[0017]
In the head-up display according to the third aspect, at least one of the non-transmissive processing and the scattering processing is performed on one inclined surface of the prism portion of the prism sheet. That is, it is preferable to use a prism sheet obtained by performing a non-transmissive process or a scattering process on a surface that is not the emission surface from which light is emitted, of the two inclined surfaces forming the apex angle of the prism portion of the prism sheet. With this configuration, since light emitted through a surface other than the emission surface is not transmitted or scattered, light emitted from the emission surface that should be originally used is not hindered, and adverse effects on image quality can be suppressed. .
[0018]
In particular, it is preferable to make it as shown in claim 4. For example, in the prism sheet of FIG. 12 (b), the surface I, which is the exit surface of the light beam, is not processed, and the opposite surface II, that is, the tilt direction substantially parallel to the direction of the light beam passing through the inside of the prism. Non-transmissive or scattering treatment is applied to the inclined surface having. By doing so, it is possible to greatly reduce the hindrance of the light of the I plane that is originally used, and to suppress the adverse effect on the image quality.
[0019]
In the head-up display according to the fifth aspect, the apex angle of the prism portion included in the prism sheet varies depending on the position of the prism portion on the prism sheet in the arrangement direction. Since the incident angle of light on the prism sheet varies depending on the position of the prism sheet, if the apex angle is uniform in the plane of the prism sheet, the exit angle slightly shifts depending on the position, and the angle of view seen from the starting point shifts. However, by changing the apex angle of the prism portion according to the position of the prism portion in the arrangement direction as in claim 5, it is possible to suppress a shift in the angle of view as viewed from the viewpoint and suppress blurring of the image.
[0020]
According to the head-up display of the sixth aspect, by adjusting the position of the prism sheet by the position adjusting means, the display position of the virtual image can be moved. Therefore, it is possible to provide a head-up display capable of displaying a virtual image that is easy for the user to see.
[0021]
The prism sheet described in each claim may be provided in an opening formed in the optical unit in order to project image information to the reflection means, as described in claim 9. By doing so, the optical path width in the optical path leading to the opening can be reduced, and the optical unit can be downsized.
[0022]
In particular, in the head-up display according to the seventh aspect, the prism sheet also serves as a dust-proof cover. Therefore, since a dedicated dust cover can be eliminated, the size of the optical unit can be further reduced, and the cost can be reduced.

In order to perform the non-transmissive treatment, for example, an ultraviolet-curable resin mixed with a black pigment is applied to the prism sheet, and is masked so that only the II surface is irradiated with ultraviolet light, or cured by irradiating from an oblique direction. Finally, the uncured resin remaining on the I surface may be washed away using an organic solvent or the like.
