001-157444). In FIG. 1, 1
Is a high voltage side battery, 2 is a chopper switching element (MOSFET), 3 is a synchronous rectification switching element (MOSFET), 4 is a coil, 5 is a low voltage side battery,
6 is a load. In such a converter, current detection is necessary for current control and overcurrent protection. As a current detection method, an AC (AC) CT (current transformer) method is known. In the ACCT method, a direct current cannot be detected unless there is a period during which the current always reaches 0 A in one cycle. Further, in order to activate the overcurrent protection instantaneously, the increasing current must be detected. In order to satisfy these two, when step-down control is performed on the DC / DC converter shown in FIG. 1, the ACCT is switched as shown in FIG.
Are often arranged in series.

That is, there are cases where two switching elements are turned on and off so that the switching elements 2 and 3 are turned on alternately. For that purpose, it is necessary to detect the current flowing through the switching element 3.

Although the detection value is made as close as possible to L (= I 2 + I 3 ), a correct current value cannot be detected in terms of average value or instantaneous value. Therefore, when calculating the timing of synchronous rectification of the switching element 3 using this current value, only a fairly rough calculation can be performed, and the expected improvement in efficiency cannot be achieved.

Outputting a maximum value of the current at a timing when the current is detected by the AC current transformer.
At a timing when the current is not detected by the current transformer, the maximum value is reduced at a constant gradient with respect to time and output.
