Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately ensure welding intervals by a simple structure in a joint-section backing ring for a steel pipe for the structure.
SOLUTION: In the joint-section backing ring 2 for the steel pipe for the structure used in the case of the relay welding of the steel pipe 1 for the structure, the joint-section backing ring 2 is constituted by installing a plurality of projecting bodies 4, which have an outside diameter specifying the welding intervals and in which notched stepped sections 4a are formed at base end sections, on the outer peripheral surface of a ring body 3 having an outside diameter slightly smaller than the inside diameter of the steel pipe 1 for the structure under an upright state. In the backing ring 2, weld metal sections at the base end sections of the projecting bodies 4 are equalized to the outside diameter of the projecting bodies 4 specifying the welding intervals by resistance-welding the projecting bodies 4 to the ring body 3.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO

2. Description of the Related Art When relay welding a structural steel pipe such as a steel pipe pile, a backing ring is generally used at a joint portion of the steel pipe because it is necessary to form a groove between the end faces of the welded ends. Then, conventionally, a spacer for holding a welding interval is inserted into a welding end of a steel pipe into which a backing ring is inserted, and the backing ring and the structural steel pipe are spot-welded to thereby weld the welding end. The welding interval in is secured. However, in this case, in addition to the welding of the structural steel pipe, welding is also required to secure the welding interval, so the work at the site was very complicated. Moreover, since the spacer is not fixed to the backing ring, there is room for improvement in that it takes time to secure the welding interval.

In order to eliminate the complexity of the conventional work described above, a joint backing ring 10 as shown in FIG. 4 (a) has been proposed. The joint backing ring 10 is the ring body 1
1 and a plurality of thin rods 12 attached to the ring body 11
The thin rods 12 are formed so as to radially project outward from six positions in the circumferential direction at the central portion of the ring body 11 in the axial direction. Then, by inserting the joint backing ring 10 of FIG. 4 between the weld end faces of the structural steel pipe,
The welding interval can be easily maintained.

However, in the joint backing ring 10, as shown in FIG. 4 (b), the thin rod 12 having a uniform cross section is attached to the ring body 11 by stud welding. At the base end portion of 12, the weld metal portion expands beyond the outer diameter of the thin rod 12. Therefore, when the joint backing ring 10 is set on the structural steel pipe, the weld metal portion 12a at the base end portion of the thin rod 12 may interfere with each other and an accurate welding interval may not be maintained. On the other hand, as shown in FIG.
If a thin rod having a male screw 12b on the base end side is screwed into the female screw hole 11a of the ring body 11 and then welded 13 from the inside of the ring body 11, the above problem is solved, but the joint part backing The number of man-hours for processing the ring 10 increases and the cost increases.

Further, in the joint backing ring 10 of FIG. 4, the thin rod 12 is provided with a notch, and the thin rod 12 is removed by hammering after tack welding. Therefore, the thin rod 12 sandwiched between the structural steel pipes must be broken and removed on site, which is complicated.

The tapered slit 3a is provided to facilitate adjustment of the diameter of the joint backing ring 2. That is, when inserting the joint backing ring 2 into the structural steel pipe 1, the diameter of the ring body 3 can be reduced to more easily insert the joint backing ring 2 into the structural steel pipe 1. Further, after inserting the joint backing ring 2 into the structural steel pipe 1, the wedge 5 is driven into the tapered slit 3a to expand the diameter of the ring body 3, and the structural steel pipe 1 and the joint backing ring 2 are connected. Can be closely attached to eliminate rattling.

On the outer peripheral surface of the ring body 3, projections 4 are attached at three locations. In the present invention, the protrusion 4 functions as a locking portion that secures a welding interval at the time of main welding and prevents the ring body 3 from sinking into the structural steel pipe 1. Therefore, the outer diameter of the protrusion 4 is set to be equal to the welding interval secured between the weld ends of the structural steel pipe 1, and defines the welding interval.

The three protrusions 4 are attached to the ring body 3 in an upright state so as to be located on a circle orthogonal to the ring center axis on the outer peripheral surface of the ring body 3. Further, as shown in FIG. 1B, the protrusions 4 are provided at intervals of 120 degrees in the circumferential direction. That is, the surface connecting the base ends of the three protrusions 4 forms an equilateral triangle that is inscribed in the ring body 3, and the protrusion 4 is attached to the ring body 3 so that the equilateral triangle is orthogonal to the center axis of the ring. Has been.

In the present embodiment, the protrusions 4 are provided at three locations on the ring body 3 because at least three support portions are required to stably support the structural steel pipe 1,
This is because if the number of protrusions 4 is greater than three, the number of construction steps will increase and rattling will likely occur due to the increase in the number of supporting portions.

Further, since the projection 4 is melted together with the molten material during the main welding of the structural steel pipe, the projection length L of the projection 4 (the length from the base end to the end of the projection 4) is the structure. It is set to be equal to or less than the thickness of the body steel pipe 1. For example, the steel pipe diameter is 1
When the thickness of the steel pipe is 00 mm to 200 mm and the thickness of the steel pipe is 4 mm to 7 mm, the protrusion length L may be about 3 mm to 4 mm. As a result, the protrusions 4 are easily melted during the main welding, and welding defects are less likely to occur.

3 (a) and 3 (b) are views showing the protrusion 4 welded to the ring body 3. FIG. The protrusion 4 is formed by annularly cutting one end of a protrusion main body 4b having a uniform circumferential cross-section, and a notch step 4a having a circumferential cross-section similar to that of the protrusion main body is provided at an end on the welding side. Has been formed. As long as the circumferential cross-sectional shape of the projection 4 is such that a welding interval can be maintained at the weld end of the structural steel pipe 1, FIG.
It may be a rectangle or the like as well as a circle or a square as shown in (b). In the production of the protrusion 4, the notch step portion 4a can be continuously processed after the protrusion body 4b is cut, so that the processing labor hardly increases.

The protrusion 4 is welded to the ring body 3 by resistance welding in a state where the end portion where the notch step portion 4a is formed is in contact with the ring body 3. In the present invention, the protrusion 4

Then, the one structural steel pipe 1 in which the joint backing ring 2 is inserted and the other structural steel pipe 1 are butted against each other. Since the ring axial length of the protrusion 4 is equal to the welding interval, the groove of the desired welding interval is secured by the protrusion 4 sandwiched between the weld ends of the structural steel pipe 1. Further, in the present invention, after welding the protrusion 4 and the ring body 3, the weld metal portion at the base end portion of the protrusion 4 has the same outer diameter as that of the protrusion 4 defining the welding interval. The welded metal portion at the base end of does not interfere with the structural steel pipe 1. The bottom of the groove is closed by the ring body 3.
