Abstract

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compensate the degradation in the visual distance regulating power of a person of advanced age and to enable the person of advanced age to read all characters without replacing the spectacles by using auxiliary lenses simply when the person of advanced age wears only the spectacles for far and middle distances. <P>SOLUTION: If the person of advanced age places the two auxiliary lenses of a focal length approximately equal to that of spectacle lenses for far and middle distances in front of the spectacles for far and middle distances, the person can read a newspaper of a close range. If one auxiliary lenses is half rotated around the axis of rotation between the lenses, the total three lenses with the lenses of the spectacles worn by the person overlap one another. As a result, the magnification equal to that of a magnifier can be obtained and further the reading of the fine characters is made possible. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO

Description: BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION [0001] The adjustment of the visual distance of the eye becomes very poor when an elderly person is used. For example, objects at long and medium distances are not clearly visible. So I put on my glasses for long distance. With these glasses, you can clearly see the point from about 2m, and you can clearly see the TV screen indoors. (Hereinafter, the lens of the spectacles will be abbreviated as a long-range lens.) However, with this long-range lens, a TV program table or a book of a newspaper cannot be read. Short-distance glasses (hereinafter abbreviated as near lenses) are required. However, some characters cannot be seen with this near lens. It's a dictionary, instructions for medicine, and you need a magnifying glass. So when you move around the house, you have to carry three lenses. When going out, it is more inconvenient. Normally, you put a lens in the distance and bring out a near lens. In order to see the bus timetable, the price tag at the time of shopping, and the menu of meals, it is necessary to change the glasses twice, and each time it is necessary to put the glasses in and out of the glasses case. However, you can no longer read the product description next to the price tag or the place name on the map. This is because they do not bring the magnifying glass when going out. In this way, the old man is busy with changing his glasses all day. When the focal length of the far lens is measured, it is approximately 54 cm in my case and 27 c for the near lens.
m, the magnifier was 20 cm. With these numbers I noticed the following: When two lenses with a focal length of 54 cm are superimposed, the focal length is calculated to be 27 cm.
The result is a lens with a focal length of 8 cm. 18
cm, the magnification is larger than 20 cm. In other words, it was found that if the same lens is placed in front of the far-field lens, it becomes a near lens, and if three lenses are stacked, it becomes a magnifying glass. If a lens having the same focal length as the distance lens (hereinafter referred to as an auxiliary lens) is placed in front of the distance lens, it becomes a near lens.
Next, when one of the metal fittings for connecting the two auxiliary lenses is rotated by half with respect to the center of rotation, three lenses are overlapped on one side, and one magnifying glass is completed. Since a magnifying glass can be viewed with a single eye in everyday life, even a single magnifier is not inconvenient. There are various ways to place the auxiliary lens in front of the lens in the distance. FIG. 1 is an example in which a support rod 3 is attached to an auxiliary lens 1 and the auxiliary lens 1 is held by hand. There is a rotation axis 2 at the center between the two lenses, and if the left lens is rotated half a turn, the two lenses overlap and become a magnifying mirror. FIG. 2 is an example of a case in which lenses are stacked and a support rod is also bent and stored in a portable case. It is much smaller than when conventional short-range reading glasses are placed in a case. To attach the auxiliary lens to the lens in the distance, there are a method of hooking it with a hook and a method of clamping it with a spring, but the support bar method is the simplest and looks smart. [0003] The auxiliary lens of the present invention is * convenient to carry. The lens is thin and light. It is small because it can be folded, and it is not bulky even if you put it in your pocket. * Easy to use. Don't take off your glasses
Just pull out the auxiliary lens from your pocket and use it in front of your glasses. * There is also a magnifying glass function that you do not usually carry, and you can read fine characters. * Relieve the elderly from the complexity of changing glasses. * With the support bar method, you can enjoy a stylish use like an old opera glass with your favorite lens rim and support bar design. (The elderly who take out the reading glasses and look at them disappear.) * Although the name is an auxiliary lens, it can be used alone as long- and long-distance glasses. * Since the structure is simple, it is not made to the eye, and can be made with ready-made products, the product price can be much lower than custom-made reading glasses.
