However, this connector usually has many terminals, and the pressing member is long in a direction perpendicular to the paper surface. In the known connector shown in FIG. 4, the pressing member is closed. During rotation toward, the reaction force from these terminals may be deflected by receiving via the flexible substrate,
In that case, there is a possibility that it will come off from the rotation support portion. Therefore, in order to prevent detachment due to this bending, the pressing member is made thick to ensure sufficient rigidity, which is an obstacle to reducing the height of the connector.

Further, in the connector of FIG. 4, the contact portions of the two types of terminals, which are alternately arranged, are located at an interval in the insertion / removal direction of the flexible board. In addition, it is desirable that the rotation supporting portion that supports the pressing member is separated in the height direction from the two types of contact portions, and therefore, the pressing member becomes thick.

As described above, there is a tendency that the contact pressure between the two terminals and the flexible substrate does not become the same, and particularly that the contact pressure at the contact portion located at the back cannot be sufficiently obtained. is there. In order to cope with this, generally, the groove of the housing into which the flexible board is inserted is narrowed in the height direction toward the back to secure the contact pressure.
However, the flexible substrate may not be able to be fully inserted to a predetermined position, and in that case, a positional shift occurs between the flexible substrate and the contact pressure. In addition, since the elastically deformable region of the contact portion located at the back is provided, the size of the connector itself increases.

According to the present invention, the above point is improved and the height of the connector can be reduced by reducing the thickness of the pressing member. Even if the two types of terminals have contact portions at separated positions, the height can be reduced. It is an object of the present invention to provide an electrical connector for a flexible board which can effectively press the flexible board while ensuring the flexibility, and in which the flexible board can be easily inserted.

In the present invention having the above-described structure, the flexible substrate is moved from the open position to the closed position at the opening of the housing. In the closed position, the pressing member presses the flexible substrate, and one arm of one type of terminal receives a pressing force from the flexible substrate at the contact portion, and elastically bends. The other arm of the terminal is displaced in accordance with the bending of the one arm, thereby pressing the flexible substrate directly or via an intermediate member. As a result, the flexible substrate comes into contact with contact portions of other types of terminals. Thus, the connector can obtain a reliable contact pressure even if the pressure member is thin, so that the connector can be reduced in size (reduced in height).

In the present invention, the intermediary member extends over a range of the plurality of terminals in the terminal arrangement direction, and the intermediary member applies a force from the other arm to the flexible substrate with respect to a contact portion of another type of terminal. It is transmitted so as to be pressed. Such an intermediate member is preferably a plate-shaped rigid member from the viewpoint of improving rigidity. If the rigidity is large, downsizing and uniform contact pressure are further improved. In addition, as the rigid material, there is a metal member coated with insulation, in addition to the insulator. Further, it is also possible to remove an arbitrary position of the insulator of the metal member, electrically connect to an arbitrary terminal, and connect to a ground circuit to form a ground member.

As described above, the pressurizing member 30 is configured such that the semicircular island-shaped rotation guided portion 31A is in contact with the rotation guide portion 21A of the upper arm portion 21 of the terminal 20, and the sliding portion 31B is connected to the upper arm portion 21 of the terminal 20.
And is rotatable in contact with the sliding guide portion 21B.
In other words, the pressing member 30 is configured to rotate the guided portion 31A.
The upper arm 21 of the terminal 20 is supported by the sliding guide portion 31B so as to sandwich the upper arm 21 from above and below, and is rotatable. The pressing member 30 has a pressing portion 33 which is located inside the opening 4 and forms a corner.
Therefore, at the open position of the pressing member, the pressing portion 33 is located at the highest position and forms a large insertion space for the flexible substrate.

Such a connector is used and operates in the following manner. First, a connector is arranged on a circuit board (not shown), and connection portions 14 and 26 of the two types of terminals 10 and 20 are respectively connected to corresponding circuit portions of the circuit board by soldering. Next, the pressing member 30 is moved to the position shown in FIG.
Is brought to the open position seen in FIG. Since the pressing member 30 is brought to the open position, the flexible substrate P is inserted into the opening 4 that is largely opened to the left. The flexible substrate P has a plurality of connection circuit portions P1 and P2 formed on the lower surface, and the respective connection circuit portions are positioned on the contact portions 12A and 22A of the terminals 10 and 20 by inserting the connection circuit portions to predetermined positions. (See FIG. 1C). After that, as shown in FIG. 1 (A) -2 and FIG. 1 (B) -2,
The pressing member 30 is turned downward. As described above, this rotation is performed by the rotation guided portion 31A of the pressing member 30.
Is in contact with the rotation guide portion 21A of the terminal 20, and the sliding portion 3
This is performed while maintaining the state where 1B is in contact with the sliding guide portion 21B of the terminal 20. That is, during the rotation, the pressing member 30 rotates while sandwiching the terminal 20 from above and below oppositely. The pressing member 30 presses the flexible substrate P by the pressing unit 33 and presses the flexible substrate P against the contact unit 12A of the terminal 10. Thus, the flexible substrate P is electrically connected to the terminal 10 under a sufficient contact pressure. The lower arm portion 12 of the terminal 10 is elastically bent downward when pressed by the flexible substrate P at the contact portion 12A. This bending causes the upper arm 11 to have a displacement angle at the connecting portion 13. As a result, the upper arm 11 is displaced downward. The displaced upper arm 11 presses the flexible substrate P downward from above. The flexible substrate P pressed by the upper arm 11 is pressed against the contact portion 22A of the lower arm 22 of another terminal 20, and is electrically connected to the terminal 20 here (FIG. 1B).
2-2, see FIG. 1 (D)). The connection with the terminal 20 is made under substantially the same contact pressure as the terminal 10 due to the rigidity of the flexible substrate.

In the present embodiment, as described above, even if the pressing member is made thin, the flexible substrate contacts both terminals with a sufficient contact pressure and with a uniform contact pressure. Also, there is no need to provide a curved arm portion for elastically deforming the contact portion at the back portion so as to enable pinching. Therefore, by reducing the thickness of the pressing member, the entire connector can be made thinner, that is, so-called a low profile.

The second embodiment is characterized in that a plate-like intermediate member 40 is disposed between the upper arm of the two types of terminals and the flexible substrate. This intermediary member has the same effect as increasing the rigidity of the flexible board, and therefore, when pressed by the upper arm portion 11 of the terminal 10, the contact pressures of the plurality of contact portions of both terminals are more reliably made uniform. . In order not to impair the effect of miniaturization of the connector of the present invention, it is preferable that the intermediate member 40 is thin, and is made of a highly rigid insulating material or a metal member coated with insulation.

Next, a third embodiment shown in FIG. 3 will be described. The present embodiment is characterized in that the pressing member of FIGS. 1 and 2 is of a rotary type, but of a direct-moving insertion type. Also, the upper arm and the lower arm of the terminal are arranged upside down as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, so that the flexible substrate is also pressed against the upper arm from below to above. This is different from the previous example. Therefore, in FIG. 3, attention is paid to the function, the reference numerals assigned to the upper arm in the above example are assigned to the lower arm in the present embodiment, and the reference numerals assigned to the lower arm are assigned to the upper arm, and The form and function are easy to understand.

In FIG. 3, a plate-shaped pressing member 50 having a tapered surface 51 formed at the front edge slides on a guide surface 1A formed on the housing to move from below the flexible substrate P from the left. It is inserted linearly (FIG. 3 (A) -1). The pressing member 50 is smoothly inserted at the tapered surface 51,
The flexible substrate P is pushed upward to enter a predetermined position (FIG. 3A-2). Thus, the flexible substrate P
Makes contact with the contact portion 12A of the upper arm portion 12 of the terminal 10 under a sufficient contact pressure. The upper arm 12 is elastically bent upward due to the contact pressure, and accordingly, the lower arm 11 is also displaced upward.

The lower arm 11 displaced upward presses the flexible substrate P upward, and as a result, the flexible substrate P is pressed against the contact portion 22A of the upper arm 22 of the other terminal 20 (FIG. 3B). 1,2). Due to the rigidity of the flexible substrate P, the contact pressure at the contact portion 22A is also substantially the same as the contact pressure at the contact portion 12A.

In the present invention, for the sake of convenience, the vertical direction of the connector has been described under the normally used arrangement posture. However, depending on the application of the connector, the circuit board on which the connector is mounted may be arranged not vertically but vertically. In this case, of course, the above vertical direction means the horizontal direction. In short, the vertical direction used in the description of the present invention means a direction perpendicular to the circuit board. Further, the terminal may be composed of two or more kinds of terminals whose contact portions are different from each other.

As described above, according to the present invention, at least one terminal receives the force from the pressing member at one arm from the flexible substrate and follows the deflection of the one arm. To press the flexible substrate,
Even if the pressing member is thin, the flexible substrate is effectively pressed against other types of terminals, so that the connector can be reduced in height, that is, downsized.
The effect is remarkable especially when an intermediate member is used. Further, since the contact portion located at the back of the flexible substrate is also pressed, the contact pressure with the contact portion can be ensured even if the contact portions of a plurality of types of terminals are displaced from each other.
