Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a multilayered molded article excellent in strength by integrally laminating two kinds of skin materials on the surface of a thermoplastic resin base mateial in adjacent relationship in a certainly bonded state at a low cost without generating the positional shift of two kinds of the skin materials. SOLUTION: A mold having a skin material grasping member for mutually grasping the end parts of two kinds of the skin materials and a fitting groove in which the grasping member is fitted is used and, at first, the end parts of two kinds of the skin materials are superposed one upon another to be grasped by the skin material grasping member and this grasping member is fitted in the fitting groove provided in the mold to fix the skin materials and a molten thermoplastic resin is supplied to the gap between the skin mateials and the surface of the mold on the side where the skin material grasping member is fitted to manufacture the multilayered molded article wherein the two kinds of the skin materials are integrally laminated on the surface of the base material comprising the thermoplastic resin in adjacent relationship. The end parts of two kinds of the skin materials are grasped by the skin material grasping part through a resin stop plate.

2. Description of the Related Art Multilayer molded products in which a skin material is bonded to the surface of a base material made of a thermoplastic resin are used for automobile interior parts (for example, door trims and instrument panels) because of their economical efficiency, light weight and good shapeability. ), Are widely used in interior and exterior parts of home appliances and other wide fields. In recent years, among such multilayer molded products, a multilayer molded product in which two kinds of skin materials are pasted together is excellent in design. It has come to be used a lot.

[0003] Conventionally, as a method for producing a layer molded product in which two kinds of skin materials are bonded adjacent to the surface of such a thermoplastic resin substrate, injection molding or compression molding has been used. There is known a method in which two types of parts having a single skin material bonded thereto are separately formed, and these are joined in a later step by heat fusion or the like.

As another method, a molded product in which one type of skin material is partially adhered to the surface of a base material by injection molding or compression molding is manufactured, and another molded product is formed using an adhesive or the like in a later step. A method of attaching a skin material is known.

[0005] However, when a multilayer molded product is manufactured by such a method, for example, in the case of the former method, the bonding between the two types of base materials is partial fusion, and the bonding strength is insufficient. It may be. In the latter case, there is a problem such as peeling of the skin material.

[0006] To solve these problems, for example, the ends of two kinds of skin materials are overlapped with each other and sandwiched by a sandwiching body (FIGS. 2A, 2B, and 2C). A method has been proposed in which a molten thermoplastic resin is set in a fitting groove provided in a mold surface and supplied and molded (JP-A-2-17511).

According to this method, two types of skin materials can be simultaneously bonded and integrated, and a good multilayer molded product free from problems such as product strength and peeling of the skin material can be manufactured. In the case of using the method, as shown in FIG. 3, the position of the edge of the skin material is likely to shift when the timing of the molten resin reaching the edge of the skin material is shifted during supply or shaping of the molten resin, There is a problem that the line at the edge as shown in FIG. 4 becomes an undesirable product having a meandering appearance.

Next, a method of manufacturing a multilayer molded product using such a mold will be described. FIGS. 6A and 6B
Is a schematic cross-sectional view showing a state in which the end portions of the first skin material (2) and the second skin material (3) are sandwiched by a sandwiching body (7) via a resin stopper plate (9). Indicated by. The ends of the two skin materials (2, 3) need only be sandwiched and fixed to the extent that they do not shift during molding, and the edges of the skin materials are sandwiched as shown in FIG. 6 (a). It may be a combination of a part and a part which is not held as shown in FIG.
The entire edge may be sandwiched as shown in FIG.

The resin stopper plate (9) needs to be sandwiched between the ends of the first skin material and the second skin material. When the resin is supplied or shaped, two types of skin materials are used. It is necessary that the resin does not move even when the timing at which the resin reaches the joint edge is shifted. For this reason, the resin stopper plate is required to have strength enough to withstand the pressure during the flow of the molten resin, but the material is not particularly limited, such as metal or resin.

When the thickness of the resin stopper plate is too large, it is preferable to make the thickness as small as possible because a gap is likely to be formed at the edge of the adjacent skin material. The gap in the portion is reduced, and a molded article having a preferable appearance is obtained. The width of the resin stopper plate (corresponding to the height in FIG. 6) is as large as possible to achieve the resin stopper effect. However, if the width is too large, the resin stopper plate can be seen on the surface of the product to impair the appearance. Therefore, it is preferable to increase the size as much as possible while keeping the product from being on the product surface.

It is preferable that such a resin stopper plate is continuously interposed at all of the edges of two adjacent skin materials, but is discontinuously interposed depending on the product shape and size. Is also good.

The cavity clearance of the male and female molds when supplying the molten thermoplastic resin (13) is appropriately determined depending on the type of skin material used. When the molten thermoplastic resin is supplied from each of the portions where the two kinds of skin materials are bonded, the amount and timing of the resin supplied from each molten resin supply port are appropriately determined according to the size and shape of the molded product. Is done.

FIG. 9 shows a state in which the mold is being clamped after the supply of the molten thermoplastic resin. The molten thermoplastic resin on the first skin material side and the second skin material are shown. The timing at which the molten thermoplastic resin on the side reaches the edge of the two types of skin materials is different, but these two types of skin materials are attached to the holding body via the resin stopper plate (9). Since it is sandwiched, even if the molten thermoplastic resin on one skin material side (skin material 2 side in the figure) reaches the joint portion quickly, the resin stopper plate (9) surely stops the flow of the resin. Therefore, the mold can be clamped without shifting the position of the edge of the skin material.

The timing of the mold clamping may be either during the supply of the molten thermoplastic resin (13) or after the supply is completed. When the mold clamping is performed after the supply of the molten thermoplastic resin (13) is completed, it is preferable that the mold clamping be started immediately after the supply is completed. In addition, the mold clamping of the male and female molds is illustrated in a vertical direction in the drawing, but the mold clamping direction may be a vertical direction or a horizontal direction.

As a molding method applied to the multilayer molded article of the present invention, injection molding or compression molding is applied. In the case of injection molding, the temperature and pressure of the molten resin are directly applied to the skin material during resin supply. Since the damage to the skin material tends to increase, compression molding that can reduce the damage to the skin material is more preferably applied by performing mold clamping after supplying the molten thermoplastic resin.

According to the method of the present invention, even when two kinds of skin materials are bonded and integrated adjacently to the surface of the thermoplastic resin base material, the product strength and the adhesion strength of the skin material are reduced. A multilayer molded product having no problem and having no displacement between two kinds of skin materials can be efficiently manufactured at low cost.
