Abstract

(57)【要約】 【課題】 視聴者が番組を選択した際に、その視聴者の
嗜好にあった映像、音声を自動的に選択して提供する番
組選択装置を提供する。 【解決手段】 電子番組ガイドを記憶するＥＰＧ記憶部
１と、番組を選択する度に、選択された番組の情報を逐
次記憶する受信番組記憶部３と、ＥＰＧ記憶部１に記憶
された電子番組ガイドと、受信番組記憶部に記憶された
受信番組情報を基に、選択された番組の中にある多数の
ＥＳ（Elementally Stream）の中から一つを選択するＥ
Ｓ選択部４とからなる。

【発明の詳細な説明】
【０００１】
【発明の属する技術分野】
【従来の技術】近年、放送衛星や通信衛星等の衛星によ
って、テレビジョン信号をディジタル信号化して伝送
し、各家庭において、この信号を受信してテレビジョン
で視聴するシステムが普及しつつある。このような放送
システムにおいては、例えば、１５０近くあるチャンネ
ルを確保することが可能であるため、例えば、これまで
の地上波と比較しても、非常に多くの番組を放送するこ
とができる。このような放送システムシステムでは、多
くの番組の中から所望の番組を確実に選択できるように
するために、放送が予定される番組情報として電子番組
ガイド（ＥＰＧ：Electrical Program Guide）を伝送
し、受信側においてこれを受信して表示を行い、この電
子番組ガイドを参照することによって、所望の番組を選
択して視聴することができる。さらに、デジタル放送の
特徴の１つとして、１つの番組に対して複数の映像およ
び音声がＥＳ（Elementally Stream）として多重化され
て放送される点がある。このように１つの番組に複数の
音声、映像を多重化して放送することができるため、視
聴者にとっては、１つの番組の中から自分の嗜好にあっ
た音声、映像を選択することができる。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】このように、視聴する
映像、音声の選択肢が増えたことは視聴者にとっては、
ある面では好ましい状況となったが、その反面、自分の
嗜好にあった音声、映像を選択するのに時間がかかると
いう問題が生ずる。
【０００３】そこで、本発明は、視聴者が番組を選択し
た際に、その視聴者の嗜好にあった映像、音声を自動的
に選択して提供する番組選択装置を提供することを目的
とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】本発明は、電子番組ガイ
ドを受信し、記憶するＥＰＧ記憶部と、番組を選択する
度に、選択された番組の情報（その番組の特徴を表す内
容であって、以下、受信番組情報という。）を逐次記憶
する受信番組記憶部と、ＥＰＧ記憶部に記憶された電子
番組ガイドと、受信番組記憶部に記憶された受信番組情
報を基に、選択された番組の中にある多数のＥＳ（Elem
entally Stream）の中から一つを選択するＥＳ選択部と
からなる。
【０００５】本発明の番組選択装置では、番組が選択さ
れる度に、選択された番組のジャンル毎に用意されたカ
ウンタをインクリメントすることにより視聴者の嗜好を
記録し、新たな番組が選択されると、ＥＳ選択部は、そ
の視聴者の嗜好に応じたＥＳを自動的に選択する。これ
により、視聴者の嗜好に応じた映像および音声を提示で
きるようになる。

【発明の実施の形態】本発明の実施の形態を、図面を参
照して説明する。
【０００７】図１を参照すると、本発明の番組選択装置
は、放送される番組の情報である電子番組ガイドを受信
し記憶するＥＰＧ記憶部１と、電子番組ガイドと番組を
選局する選局部２と、番組を受信する度に、受信番組情
報を逐次記憶する受信番組記憶部３と、ＥＰＧ記憶部１
に記憶された電子番組ガイドと受信番組記憶部３に記憶
された受信番組情報とを基に番組内のＥＳを選択するＥ
Ｓ選択部４とからなる。ここで、図示はしないが、電波
を受信するアンテナ、復調器、受信した映像、音声を視
聴者に提供するテレビモニタ、スピーカ等も備える。
【０００８】ＥＰＧ記憶部１には、図２に示すような電
子番組ガイドが記憶される。すなわち、電子番組ガイド
は、チャンネル番号１０１、番組識別子１０２、放送日
１０３、放送開始時間１０４、放送時間１０５、番組名
称１０６、番組ジャンル１０７、ＥＳ選択情報［０］１
０８、ＥＳ選択情報［１］１０９、ＥＳ選択情報［２］
１１０、ＥＳ選択情報［３］１１１等から構成される。
この電子番組ガイドは、放送を介して取得される。
【０００９】番組ジャンル１０７は、図５に示すように
分類される。すなわち、ジャンルとしては、デジタルラ
ジオ、アダルト、海外放送等が挙げられる。これらジャ
ンルには、ジャンルコードが割り当てられている。本図
では、ジャンルコードは８ｂｉｔで表現され、１６種類
のジャンルに対して固有のコードが割り当てられてい
る。
【００１０】図３は、図２のＥＳ選択情報［０］〜
［３］の内容を示した図であり、音声ＥＳ識別子２０
１、映像ＥＳ識別子２０２、それぞれのＥＳの特徴を示
すＥＳジャンル２０３とから構成される。各番組には、
複数のＥＳが含まれていて、各ＥＳは、同一の内容を基
にしてＣＭの内容や、内容の脚色に変化を持たせた映
像、音声が納められているものとする。尚、ＥＳジャン
ルには、対象とするＥＳを好む視聴者が嗜好する番組ジ
ャンルを指定しておく。
【００１１】図４に示すように、受信番組記憶部３に
は、電子番組ガイドの中の番組ジャンル１０７に示され
た１６種類のジャンルコードに対応する記憶領域がＣ
［０］〜Ｃ［１５］として確保されていて、その領域内
に受信番組情報が格納される。
【００１２】次に、本実施例の動作を、図６のフローチ
ャートを用いて説明する。
【００１３】まず、ステップ１０１において、装置の初
期化が行われる。具体的には、ＥＰＧ記憶部１により選
局部２が制御され、必要な電子番組ガイドがＥＰＧ記憶
部１に記憶される。一方、受信番組記憶部３に記憶され
ている受信番組情報には初期値として０がセットされる
か、又は、外部記憶装置に受信番組情報が記憶されてい
る場合には、その情報を受信番組記憶部３にロードす
る。
【００１４】次に、ステップ１０２で、視聴者の操作が
行われるか、又は、番組の放送時間が終了し次の番組に
移行するまで待ち状態となる。
【００１５】次にステップ１０３で、視聴者による終了
操作が行われたかどうかを判別する。視聴者による終了
処理であった場合には、ステップ１０７で終了処理を行
う。この終了処理では、選局部２を制御して番組の受信
を停止すると共に、必要に応じて外部記憶装置に受信番
組情報をセーブする。視聴者による終了処理でない場
合、すなわち、受信中の番組の放送終了による次の番組
への移行、又は、視聴者の操作による新たな番組の受信
操作であった場合には、ステップ１０４へ移行する。
【００１６】次に、ステップ１０４では、選局が指定さ
れた番組に含まれる複数のＥＳの中で視聴者に提示する
ＥＳの選択を行う。そのために、まず、選局が指定され
た番組の電子番組ガイドをＥＰＧ記憶部１から取得し、
選択された番組に含まれる全てのＥＳ選択情報を取得
し、さらに、それらＥＳ選択情報に対応するＥＳジャン
ル２０３を抽出する。次に、抽出されたＥＳジャンル２
０３の値に対応する受信番組情報３０１の要素を参照し
て、全てのＥＳ選択情報の中で受信番組情報の値がもっ
とも大きなＥＳを選択する。
【００１７】次に、ステップ１０５では、選局された番
組の番組ジャンル１０７に対応する受信番組情報３０１
の要素の値を１増加する。
【００１８】次に、ステップ１０６では、選局部２を制
御して、ステップ１０４の処理の結果選択されたＥＳの
受信を開始する。
【００１９】次に、ステップ１０２に戻り、視聴者の次
の操作又は番組の切り替わりが起こるま待機する。

【発明の効果】本発明により、視聴者が選局を行った際
に、視聴者の嗜好に応じたＥＳを自動的に選択して提示
することができる。その理由は、視聴者が選局操作を行
う度に選局された番組のジャンル情報（選択された回
数）を記憶し、視聴頻度の高いジャンルを基にして、自
動的にＥＳを提示するからである。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】 視聴者が選択した番組が属するジャンル
    の視聴頻度と、番組と共に受信する電子番組ガイドとに
    基づいて、当該番組の中から一つの映像、音声を選択す
    ることを特徴とする番組選択装置。
  2. 【請求項２】 番組と共に受信する電子番組ガイドを記
    憶するＥＰＧ記憶部と、番組を選択する度に、選択され
    た番組が属するジャンルの視聴頻度を記憶する受信番組
    記憶部と、前記電子番組ガイドと、前記視聴頻度とに基
    づいて、当該番組の中から一つの映像、音声を選択する
    ＥＳ選択部とから構成されることを特徴とする番組選択
    装置。
  3. 【請求項３】 前記視聴頻度は、番組が選択される度
    に、番組のジャンル毎に設けられたカウンタの値を増加
    させることにより求めることを特徴とする請求項１又は
    ２記載の番組選択装置。
  4. 【請求項４】 前記視聴頻度が高いジャンルに属する映
    像、音声を選択することを特徴とする請求項１、２又は
    ３記載の番組選択装置。
  5. 【請求項５】 視聴者が選択した番組が属するジャンル
    の視聴頻度と、番組と共に受信する電子番組ガイドとに
    基づいて、当該番組の中から一つの映像、音声を選択す
    ることを特徴とする番組選択方法。
  6. 【請求項６】 番組と共に受信する電子番組ガイドを記
    憶するステップと、番組を選択する度に、選択された番
    組が属するジャンルの視聴頻度を記憶するステップと、
    前記電子番組ガイドと、前記視聴頻度とに基づいて、当
    該番組の中から一つの映像、音声を選択するステップと
    からなることを特徴とする番組選択方法。
  7. 【請求項７】 前記視聴頻度は、番組が選択される度
    に、番組のジャンル毎に設けられたカウンタの値を増加
    させることにより求めることを特徴とする請求項５又は
    ６記載の番組選択方法。
  8. 【請求項８】 前記視聴頻度が高いジャンルに属する映
    像、音声を選択することを特徴とする請求項５、６又は
    ７記載の番組選択方法。
