Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent nonuniformity in the luminance of a liquid crystal cell, in a state where the usage of an expensive diffusion sheet is suppressed to a min. by constituting a display device of a transmission type liquid crystal cell and a light emitting diode for the backlight of the cell and forming a white system light shielding film on a nearly hemispherical shape part at the top of the light emitting diode. SOLUTION: This device is constituted of a PCB resin-made attachment board 1, a parts base 2 fixed to the board 1, the liquid crystal cell 3 attached to the parts base 2, one diffusion sheet fixed at the rear surface side of the cell 3, the light emitting diode 5 constituting the backlight and a white system paint 6 coated on the nearly hemispherical shape part of the top of the diode 5 or the like. With such a configuration, the liquid crystal cell 3 is prevented from being emitted with the drastically bright light from the top part of the light emitting diode 5, even when the luminance of the backlight is increased in spite of there being only one diffusion sheet 4. Then the effect that the nonuniformity can be attained in the luminance of the cell 3 is expected.
