Descrizione del Brevetto per Invenzione Industriale dal titolo : Description of the Patent for Industrial Invention entitled:
BARRE’ MULTIPOSIZIONE PER CHITARRA MULTIPOSITION BARS FOR GUITAR
TESTO DELLA DESCRIZIONE TEXT OF THE DESCRIPTION
The great utility offered to guitarists by the use of the mobile barré (or nut) in following a piece in a different key from the original one, continuing to use the same positions without being forced to set new ones, is now an established fact in the musical field.
In fact, the sound performance given by the use of the movable nut is undoubted, which allows you to continue to use open chords even when it is a matter of guitaristically difficult tones (such as C #, Eb, F # ... etc.) which include the continuous use of the natural barré represented by the index finger placed vertically to cover the entire width of the neck, so as to be able to apply pressure on all the strings at the same time.
However, despite its already mentioned usefulness, the traditional movable nut carries with it a limit represented by not allowing any use other than that of a simple change of tonality.
The object of the invention in question is to expand the possibilities offered by the use of the movable nut, proposing a new version characterized by its ability to vary, according to the harmonic / musical needs of each musician, the position of the pressure point of the nut, no longer, and not only, uniformly on all strings, but in a different way for each string of the instrument.
It is a nut equipped with sliding bars (Table 1 / a), one for each string, (six in the case of a traditional guitar), each of which carries at its ends two mechanical elements capable of acting on as many "fingertips artificial "(Tab.1 / b), which, far (in rest position) from the strings of the instrument, can, by acting on the mechanism itself, be made to adhere to the fingerboard, individually and independently of each other.
And this can be done, for each element, even in a different position (a few semitones higher or lower) than that in which the nut is placed.
Each of the bars, in order to further extend its range of action, houses a second bar (Table 1 / c), in turn sliding, able, if necessary, to increase the number of semitones that can be reached.
The position of each bar can be varied, unlocking it, by acting on a "comb" element (Table 1 / f) (Table 2 / a) which, by means of a series of teeth and a spring system (Table 2 / b), has the task, in the rest position, of keeping them locked in the chosen position.
The nut, intended to be preferably used in the first positions of the keyboard, can be freely placed in any other position, either in the center of a single key or, thanks to the particular shape of the supporting parts (Table 3 / a), also straddling two contiguous keys, thus increasing its possibilities of use.
Similarly, thanks to the particular shape of the support parts, it can be placed astride the first fret of the instrument (traditionally called the "nut"), exactly at the beginning of the neck, between the headstock and the attachment of the strings, thus allowing to exploit, if necessary, all the notes of the keyboard, none excluded, including the notes in the first position (starting from F), as well as those deriving from the strings left free.
The object consists of a central body (Tab. 3 / b), preferably in metal, characterized by six rectangular housings, through which as many bars slide, also in metal and characterized by a series of notches shown along a good part of their length (Table 1 / a), useful for positioning and fixing the bars themselves in the desired position.
On the side the body has two slits, inside which the lateral offshoots of two external elements (two "wings") in the shape of a "T" (Table 3 / d) slide which, thanks to two support points represented by two fins located in the lower part of each element (Table 3 / a), and thanks to the containment action given by a self-locking strap (Table 3 / e) (Table 4 / a), they are responsible for anchoring the nut to the instrument. Said external elements are in turn sliding so as to be able to easily adapt to the different width of the handle of the various instruments; also facilitated in this task by their rubber coating (Table 3 / d) which is also useful to protect the parts of the instrument in contact with the nut from any damage due to wear.
On the upper part, the body shows a rectangular compartment (Tab.1 / e) able to contain a toothed element (Tab.1 / f) (Tab.2 / a) which, thanks to a spring system (Tab.2b) , has the task of locking, through special slots, the six sliding bars (and the other six - removable - contained within them) in the desired position. Said element is in turn connected to the central body through a small metal bar (Table 1 / g) (Table 2 / c), fixed to it by means of two screws whose task, in addition to supporting the system spring, is also to anchor, laterally, the two component parts of the strap (Table 1 / h) and to constitute, through two slots (Table 3 / f) present on the offshoots of each "wing" (Table 3 / c), the end point for the two side elements. These are two slots through which the two screws pass before being fixed to the bottom of their housing.
Tav. 5). Each of the six sliding bars, complete with the relative supplementary bars, has two threaded holes at their ends to which they will be screwed, using the knurling on the upper part of the first element (Table 5 / h), the elements that make up the mechanism responsible for pressure of the strings (see Table 5).
This mechanism is composed of various elements: a key element (Tab. 5 / a), provided with a (male) wide spiral thread, to which a second element (Tab. 5 / b) is connected, provided with the relative counter thread (female) and provided with two small lateral end-of-stroke protrusions, at the end of which the element is screwed, composed of two distinct parts (Tab. 5 / d-e) (one fixed, the other rotating) to which it is finally connected the "fingertip" (Plate 5 / f).
The fingertip, made of semi-rigid material and very resistant to wear (rubber, leather, or plastic), is built around a core (a small chamber) of steel (Table 5 / g) provided with internal threading thanks to the which can be screwed to the fingertip holder element (Table 5 / e).
All the various components of the mechanism can be easily disassembled allowing, in addition to being able to replace any worn parts, also to be able to remove one or more bars based on specific needs, even of an executive / musical order (using, for example, only three on the low E / A / Re strings only).
The component called "fingertip" (Tab. 5 / f + g), when in the rest position, is free to turn on itself (Tab. 5 / i) thanks to the circular element, in the shape of a spool, on which it is mounted (Tab. 5 / d), This ensures that its position in carrying out its task of pressing the strings is always different, thus avoiding damage deriving from wear due to a fixed position.
At the same time the "fingertip" can be disassembled, in order to be replaced, thanks to the friction between the two parts that make up the fingertip holder element (Tab. 5 / d + e), friction that is obtained by making the two stick together. parts, both provided with a knurled surface, thanks to a slight pressure from the bottom upwards to be exerted on the mobile element (Table 5 / f), In this way it will be possible to act on the fingertip in an anti-clockwise direction in order to be able to remove it .
In order to facilitate, in the same way, the removal of the fingertip holder element (Table 5 / d + e + f), the upper part of the "spool" element (Table 5 / d) will have a knurling on the upper part (Table 2 / d) (Table 5 / i), in order to facilitate its loosening and then proceed with its removal without intervening on the fingertip.
In conclusion, the object (Table 6), offering the possibility of being able to intervene on the intonation of each individual string, in addition to that of being able to keep each string free, allows to obtain completely new and unusual harmonic implications, creating the conditions for research harmonics different from the norm, in particular as regards the arpeggios, as well as for completely personal executive solutions and the result of which will be proportional only to the artistic curiosity and desire to experiment of each musician.
