Description
The present invention relates to a floor cleaning machine, and in particular a professional floor cleaning machine which is mainly intended for cleaning rather large surfaces, for example inside commercial establishments and / or small industrial areas.
Professional floor cleaning machines are usually divided into two different categories, where the first category includes machines that are mounted on self-propelled vehicles designed to be driven by an operator, usually called â € œman on boardâ €, while the second category includes machines that are mounted on trolleys designed to be pushed manually by an operator walking behind them, usually called â € œman on the groundâ €.
The present invention relates to both of these types of floor cleaning machines.
As is known, floor cleaning machines generally comprise operating groups suitable for carrying out specific floor cleaning operations, including one or more motorized rotating parts suitable for rubbing against the surfaces, a dispensing unit for a detergent liquid, and a suction unit which is associated with a squeegee-floor unit. The floor squeegee unit usually includes one or more flexible rubber blades, which are able to crawl on the floor in order to collect the detergent liquid and the dirt removed, to facilitate their removal by the suction unit.
These operating groups are generally covered by special plastic or sheet metal carters, and are mounted on a sturdy and solid support frame, usually large, which is equipped with wheels to be moved, manually or motorized, on the floor to be washed.
The rotating members currently in use generally comprise a support disk, which is connected to the shaft of an actuation motor, and is provided with a plurality of front bristles that protrude from the lower face to stay in direct contact with the floor. to wash.
The known rotating members have the task of removing the dirt from the floor, which is then removed together with the water used for washing by the suction unit.
However, as they crawl on the floor, known rotating members also perform a certain abrasive action, which makes these floor washing machines unsuitable for use in cleaning delicate surfaces.
Furthermore, following prolonged use, the bristles wear out quickly and tend to deform, crushing against the support disc and acquiring a bent shape which makes them rather ineffective.
For this and other reasons, the removal of dirt obtainable with traditional rotating parts does not always provide satisfactory results, and also requires the use of a large quantity of detergent liquid or water.
The high quantity of detergent liquid or water in turn means that the floors are often quite wet after cleaning, hence the need to oversize the suction unit, with consequent greater energy expenditure during operation.
The poor cleaning efficiency of known rotating members also means that they must be strongly pressed against the floors to be washed.
This pressure translates into a greater friction of the rotating parts on the floor and therefore in a greater resistance opposed to the drive motor, the operation of which therefore implies a high energy consumption.
Scopo della presente invenzione à ̈ quello di superare almeno in parte i menzionati inconvenienti, rendendo disponibile una macchina lavapavimenti avente una maggiore efficacia pulente rispetto a quelle attualmente disponibili. The object of the present invention is to overcome at least in part the aforementioned drawbacks, making available a floor washing machine having a greater cleaning efficiency than those currently available.
A further purpose of the invention is to achieve the aforementioned objective in the context of a simple, rational and low-cost solution.
These objects are achieved by the characteristics of the invention reported in the independent claim. The dependent claims outline preferred and / or particularly advantageous aspects of the invention.
In particular, the invention provides a floor cleaner which comprises a support frame suitable to be moved on the floor, on which at least one rotating cleaning member adapted to stay in contact with the floor and a motor to rotate said cleaning member are installed. cleaning, in which said rotating cleaning member comprises a cleaning element in microfibre able to stay in direct contact with the floor.
Microfiber is a typically synthetic fiber that measures less than a denier. The denier is a unit of measure of the fineness of a yarn that expresses the linear density of the fibers. In particular, denier is defined as the mass in grams of 9000 meters of fiber: a fiber measuring 1 denier is a fiber so thin that it weighs 1 gram for every 9000 meters of length.
Thanks to the infinitesimal size of the yarn, the microfiber cleaning element exerts a physical and mechanical action on the dirt particles, effectively removing them from the floor and trapping them between the fibers.
The cleaning element can be made with polymeric microfibers, preferably polyester or polyamide, or a combination of polyester and polyamide microfibers.
The polyester microfibers have a hooked micro-structure which, thanks to the water, exerts a non-abrasive mechanical action to remove dirt, while the polyamide microfibers have a high absorbent power, able to absorb water and with it the dirt removed.
In this way, the microfiber cleaning element is able not only to remove dirt from the floor, but also to remove it together with the water used for washing.
When a cleaning element is full of dirt, it can be replaced with a clean one, and it can eventually be washed for multiple use.
Grazie all’elemento pulente in microfibra à ̈ anche possibile pulire i pavimenti in modo efficace utilizzando solo acqua, senza l’aggiunta di sostanze detergenti chimiche. Thanks to the microfiber cleaning element it is also possible to clean floors effectively using only water, without the addition of chemical detergents.
The amount of water required is also reduced by 90% compared to that required with traditional brushes, as it is sufficient for the microfibres to be wet to perform their cleaning action.
From this it follows that after the cleaning operations the floors are substantially almost dry, to the point that in some circumstances it is not even necessary to use the suction unit, with consequent energy savings.
The greater cleaning efficiency of the microfibre element also allows to reduce the pressure with which it must be pressed against the floors, reducing friction and therefore obtaining further energy savings, equal to about 60% compared to the consumption of current machines. .
In particular, the pressure of the cleaning organ on the floor can be very low, between 3kg and 15kg, while with traditional machines it can vary from 15kg to 90kg, which also gives the possibility to rotate the cleaning organ. at a comparatively higher number of revolutions, up to 800 revolutions / minute.
According to a preferred aspect of the invention, the floor cleaner can be equipped with a heater device, typically a small boiler, to heat the water or more generally the washing liquid before the latter is dispensed onto the floor or onto the € ™ cleaning element.
In this way the cleaning of the floors is improved, as the hot liquid not only allows the microfiber cleaning element to detach and remove dirt more easily, but if the temperature is high enough, it can also perform a certain antibacterial action. .
Preferably, the aforementioned heating device is provided with adjustment means, such as a thermostat, to allow the user to vary the water temperature according to needs, for example from a minimum of 20 ° C up to maximum temperatures such as to transform it into steam.
Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become evident by reading the following description provided by way of non-limiting example, with the aid of the figures illustrated in the attached tables.
Figure 1 is a side view of a floor cleaner according to the invention, in which the rotating cleaning member is sectioned along an axial plane.
Figure 2 shows the scrubber in figure 1 in which the cleaning device is not sectioned and in which some components have been eliminated for greater clarity.
Figure 3 is a plan view of the scrubber in figure 2. Figure 4 is the side view of the scrubber in figure 2, shown in the rest configuration.
The scrubber 1 comprises a rather small and light support frame 2, which has a simple horizontal platform 20 and is equipped with three support wheels, of which two coaxial front wheels 21 with fixed axis, and a pivoting rear wheel 22 .
Two salient lateral sides 23 are fixed to the support frame 2, preferably made of plastic, identical in shape and mutually opposite, which laterally delimit the loading space of the trolley 2.
A detti fianchi laterali 23 à ̈ articolato un telaio rigido 3, preferibilmente realizzato in profilati d’acciaio. A rigid frame 3 is articulated to said lateral sides 23, preferably made of steel sections.
As illustrated in Figure 3, the frame 3 is closed in a ring and has two transversal shafts, one of which at the front 30 and one at the rear 31, straight and parallel, which are connected by two longitudinal shaped shafts 32, identical and mutually opposed.
The rigid frame 3 is inserted on the outside of the lateral sides 23 of the carriage 2, to which it is articulated by means of two hinged joints 24 which are individually adapted to join a respective lateral side 23 to the adjacent longitudinal rod 32.
Said hinge joints 24 are perfectly coaxial, so as to define a single axis of rotation A of the rigid frame 3 with respect to the supporting carriage 2.
As illustrated in Figure 1, said rotation axis A is oriented so as to be horizontal when the frame 2 is resting on the floor, and is placed in an intermediate position along the longitudinal bars 32, so that the rigid frame 3 is articulated to the support frame 2 as a rocker arm.
In this way, a lowering of the rear transverse rod 31 corresponds to a raising of the front transverse rod 30, and vice versa.
More specifically, the longitudinal bars 32 of the frame 3 extend from the top to the bottom, so that the front transverse bar 30 surpasses the platform 20 and is substantially at the same height as the latter, while the transverse bar rear 31 is located at a higher altitude.
The rear transverse rod 31 acts as a handle for the user who has to push the floor cleaner 1, and is therefore positioned at a height where it can be comfortably gripped.
In correspondence with the front transverse rod 30, on the rigid frame 3 there is fixed a support plate 33 (see fig. 2), on which an operating unit is installed, globally indicated with 5, which includes a rotating cleaning member 50 which is associated with a drive gearmotor 51.
In particular, the cleaning member 50 comprises a hard support disk 52, preferably made of metal material, on the lower face of which a microfiber cleaning element 53 is fixed.
Said microfibre cleaning element 53 is shaped as a flat and thin element with a substantially circular shape, which is placed coaxial and almost completely covers the lower face of the support disk 52.
The cleaning element 53 can be shaped like a cloth, a carpet or like a thin, more or less soft cushion.
The cleaning element 53 is preferably made up of a composition of polyester microfibers and polyamide microfibers.
The fixing of the cleaning organ 53 on the support plate 52 is obtained by means of a perimeter frame 54 which surrounds both the cleaning member 53 and the support plate 52, whose cross section is shaped like a hook so as to tighten the edge of the cleaning member 53 against the edge of the support plate 52 (see fig.1).
Obviously the fixing frame 54 could be replaced by a plurality of hooks having the same cross section as the frame 54 and placed spaced apart along the perimeter of the cleaning member 53 and of the supporting plate 52; or by any other means of fixing.
The cleaning organ 50 is positioned under the support plate 33, with the axis of rotation substantially vertical, so that the cleaning element 53 in microfibre can be placed frontally on the floor.
The support disk 52 and the cleaning element 53 in microfibre are both perforated in the center, to allow the keying of the cleaning member 50 to the shaft of the gearmotor 51.
The operation of the gearmotor 51 is managed by a control lever 55 which is mounted on the rear transverse rod 31 of the frame 3, and which is connected to the gearmotor 51 through flexible cables (not shown).
On the support plate 33 there is also mounted a suction unit, globally indicated with 6, which schematically comprises a pump with the relative drive motor.
The suction unit 6 is also managed by manual members (not shown) which are preferably mounted on the rear transverse rod 31 of the frame 3, so that they can be comfortably operated by the user.
As illustrated in Figure 1, said suction unit 6 is connected by means of a first flexible tube 60 to a closed collection tank 61, preferably made of plastic, which is positioned on the edge of the support frame 2, and is in turn connected, by means of a second flexible tube 62, to a floor-wiper unit 7.
The collection tank 61 rests on a lower tank 63, mounted on the platform 20 of the support frame 2, which is designed to contain a washing liquid, typically water or possibly water mixed with a detergent substance.
The tank 63 is connected to one or more washing liquid dispensing nozzles (not shown), which are fixed on the frame 3 in correspondence with the cleaning member 50 to dispense the liquid directly on the floor or on the ™ cleaning element 53 in microfibre. Said dispensing nozzles are connected to the tank 63 by at least one duct 64 along which a manual adjustment valve (not visible) is generally placed.
According to a preferred aspect of the invention, along the duct 64, between the tank 63 and the dispensing nozzles, a small boiler 65 is installed which is suitable for heating the washing water before it is dispensed.
The boiler 65 can be of the electric type, and be able to heat the washing water when it passes along the duct 64.
A thermostat is associated with the 65 boiler, which can be manually adjusted by the user to vary the water temperature, for example from a minimum of 20 ° C up to transforming it into steam.
The thermostat can be adjusted by means of a control knob (not shown) which is preferably installed on the rear transverse rod 31, to be conveniently operated by the user.
The squeegee - floor unit 7 is known per se and comprises two thin flexible blades 70, preferably of rubber, which are vertically oriented so as to be arranged on the edge of the floor.
As illustrated in Figure 3, the flexible blades 70 are joined together at the ends and are kept separate by a rigid frame 71, which defines an open space on the bottom.
A connecting tube 73 is associated with said rigid frame 71, which flows into said interspace and is connected to the second flexible tube 62 coming from the collection tank 61.
As shown in figure 1, the rigid frame 71 is connected to the support frame 2 by means of two superimposed connecting rods 76, which define an articulated quadrilateral which allows the squeegee unit 7 to perform vertical movements operated manually by means of a handle bar 78 .
In particular, said articulated quadrilateral allows displacements of the floor-wiper assembly 7 between the working position of Figure 1, in which the flexible blades 70 are in contact with the floor, and the rest position of Figure 4, in which the flexible blades 70 they are raised and are not in contact with the floor.
The wiper-floor unit 7 can be locked in the rest configuration thanks to a magnet 26 which is mounted on the support frame 2 in such a way as to receive in contact the upper connecting rod 76 of the articulated quadrilateral.
In use, the floor cleaner 1 is pushed and guided on the floor by the user who walks behind it by grasping the rear transverse rod 31 of the tilting frame 3.
The tilting frame 3 is in the configuration illustrated in figure 1, where the operating unit 5 is in a lowered working position in which the cleaning element 53 in microfibre is in front of contact with the floor.
To obtain effective cleaning, the cleaning element 53 must exert a pressure preferably between 3kg and 15kg on the floor.
For this reason, the machine 1 is generally equipped with one or more weights which are able to push the cleaning element 53 onto the floor by gravity with an adequate force.
Said weights comprise the operating unit 5 and the suction unit 6, whose weight force tends to make the tilting frame 3 rotate clockwise C, i.e. in the sense that corresponds to a lowering of the front transverse rod 30, by pressing the ™ cleaning element 53 of microfiber on the floor with a corresponding force.
If the weight of the operating unit 5 and of the suction unit 6 is insufficient to reach the desired pressure values, it is possible to add masses which are applied on the support plate 33 of the tilting frame 3 as ballast.
If, on the other hand, the weight of the operating unit 5 and of the suction unit 6 are excessive, the machine 1 can be equipped with contrast means designed to limit the force that is discharged onto the floor through the cleaning element 53.
A. In the example shown in Figure 2, said contrasting means comprise a wheel 56 suitable for staying on the floor, which is connected to one of the longitudinal bars 32 of the tilting frame 3, by means of a telescopic arm 57 oriented vertically and positioned downstream of the axis of rotation A.
The shortening of the telescopic arm 57 is contrasted by a spring 58 which is installed two mutually sliding sections of the telescopic arm 57, so that the latter can proportionally bear a part of the weight of the operating unit 5 and of the suction 6, limiting the remainder that is discharged onto the microfiber cleaning element 53.
During the washing operations, the rotating cleaning member 50 is made to rotate by the gearmotor 51, and at the same time the dispensing of the liquid from the tank 63 is controlled.
The liquid is dispensed directly onto the floor or onto the cleaning element 53, so that the rubbing action of the latter and the detergent action of the liquid allow the dirt to be removed from the floor.
In particular, the polyester microfibres present in the cleaning element 53, thanks to the water and their hooked micro-structure, generate a non-abrasive mechanical action to remove dirt. The polyamide microfibers, thanks to their high absorbency, absorb and retain water and with it the dirt removed.
During the cleaning phase, the boiler 65 can be kept active in order to heat the washing water which will then be dispensed onto the floor.
The use of hot water in fact facilitates the detachment and removal of dirt by the cleaning element 53.
By adjusting the thermostat associated with the boiler 65, the user can also vary the temperature of the washing water according to needs.
In particular, it is envisaged that the user can choose to heat the water in the boiler 65 up to transform it into steam, which is used to improve cleaning or carry out an antibacterial action.
During the cleaning phase, the suction unit 6 can also be operated, which depresses the collection tank 61 and, through the flexible duct 62, the interspace defined between the flexible blades 70 of the wiper unit 7 which is in the lowered working position.
The liquid mixed with dirt that is not absorbed by the cleaning element 53 is then swept and collected by the flexible blades 70 which crawl on the floor and is finally sucked into the collection tank 61.
Once the washing operations have been completed, the user pushes the rear transverse rod 31 of the tilting frame 3 downwards, lifting the front rod 30.
In this way, the operating unit 5 and the suction unit 6 are raised from the floor, until they reach a rest position illustrated in figure 4, in which the cleaning element 53 does not touch the floor and in which the tilting frame 3 it is blocked by means known per se.
According to the comparative tests carried out by the applicant, with the same results, a floor cleaner 1 equipped with a microfiber cleaning element 53 requires a much lower quantity of water than a similar traditional floor cleaner. More specifically, where a traditional floor cleaner requires a delivery of about 1.5 liters of water per minute, the floor cleaner 1 with the cleaning element 53 in microfibre requires only 0.15-0.2 liters of water per minute.
In fact, it is sufficient that the cleaning element 53 in microfibre is damp in order to perform an effective cleaning action.
From this it follows that after the cleaning operations the floors are substantially almost dry, to the point that in some circumstances it is not even necessary to use the suction unit 6, with consequent energy savings.
Furthermore, the wet cleaning element 53 has the effect of heating the dirt particles by friction, thus also carrying out a bactericidal action.
The small amount of water used also has the advantage of being able to be heated inside the boiler 65 with low energy consumption.
The pressure with which the cleaning element 53 in microfibre is pressed on the floor is also much lower than that with which the rotating brushes of traditional scrubbers are pressed, which can reach up to 90kg.
This pressure reduction involves the possibility of rotating the cleaning member 50 at a comparatively higher number of revolutions, up to 800 revolutions / minute, as well as a reduction in friction and therefore a lower energy absorption by the gearmotor 51 , up to about 60% less than traditional scrubber motors.
Obviously, a person skilled in the art can make numerous modifications of a technical-applicative nature to the floor cleaner 1 as described above, without thereby departing from the scope of the invention as claimed below.
