Le chiavi di tipo noto sono generalmente costituite da una testa, atta ad essere impugnata da un operatore, e da uno stelo sagomato, destinato ad essere inserito nella relativa serratura. In alcune di queste forme di realizzazione l’elemento di copertura contenente Γ etichetta viene calzato su di una sporgenza definita in aggetto su una delle pareti che delimitano l’asola stessa. La sporgenza sulla quale viene calzato l’elemento di copertura presenta, inoltre, uno spessore inferiore a quello dell’asola, in modo tale che l’elemento di copertura non sporga oltre le superfici che delimitano esternamente la testa della chiave. In altre forme di realizzazione, l’asola definita sulla chiave presenta anche una ulteriore apertura esterna all’interno della quale viene inserito a scorrimento l’elemento di copertura.
