Description
Descrizione di un brevetto di invenzione a nome: Description of an invention patent in the name:
The present invention relates to a multilayer sheet for packaging products. In particular, the sheet according to the present invention can be used for packaging in sacks, bags and the like for containing and transporting objects or materials or can be used to wrap objects or materials to be packaged.
Multilayer sheets for packaging are known in which two or more sheets of paper or plastic material are joined together, for example by means of a layer of glue of a suitable type. However, it has been noted that the strength of the sheet made in this way, in relation to the weight and strength of the individual layers is not entirely satisfactory. In particular, bags made with multilayer sheets of the exemplified type, and filled with materials, in particular in powdery form, have an unsatisfactory resistance to breaking following falling from predetermined heights. Furthermore, the presence of the glue layer influences the permeability of the layers, in particular if made of paper, preventing transpiration or the circulation of air or gas through the sheet, a circulation that would be desirable to keep many packaged materials in optimal conditions, for example binder materials such as cement, food or other. Even if a multilayer sheet is used as it is to wrap objects to be packaged, drawbacks such as those mentioned above are to be expected.
If bags are made, it is also known to use multiple layers of paper or other material. The layers are joined together when the side welds and the edge of the bag opening are made; so the layers are joined together only by the edges. This solves the problem of the breathability of the bag. However, even the bags made in this way do not have a completely satisfactory resistance. The realization of the bags is complicated by the fact of having to handle several layers. In addition, the breakdown even by simple wear of the innermost layer can also lead to the entry of considerable quantities of the material contained in the bag into the space between the two layers. This can cause problems in recovering the contents from the bag.
The aforementioned problems have been solved according to the present invention by a packaging sheet comprising at least two layers of suitable material superimposed, joined together by means of a plurality of gluing points separated from each other and distributed along the sheet, preferably in a substantially uniform manner.
According to an aspect of the invention, the gluing points are between 10 and 10000 per m <2> of sheet, preferably there are between 500 and 3000. The distribution of the gluing points can follow any design deemed appropriate: the points can for example all be aligned according to two orthogonal directions, or be distributed in quincunx.
The material of which the layers are made can be material such as paper of suitable thickness, for example paper for packaging or plastic material, with a thickness between 10 and 500µm, preferably 30 㯀 m and 150 㯀 m. For example, if the sheet consists of two layers, a thickness suitable for the realization of the invention is 60 㯀 m. The layers can have the same or different thickness, and the material of the different layers can be the same or different.
A continuous space is thus defined between the gluing points where the overlapping layers are not glued. This allows you to take advantage of the breathability of the material, without the glue layer being an obstacle.
The surface affected by the glue points is variable according to the needs; for example, in the case of the production of paper bags, the surface can be between 0.2 and 1.5 cm <2>. Even the shape of the points can be varied according to the needs, it can be circular, square, rhomboid areas and any other shape deemed appropriate.
The glue can be of any type deemed appropriate, for example, in the case of layers of paper material, it can be a vinyl-based glue.
The invention also relates to a process for the production of a multilayer sheet for packaging, comprising the application to at least one face of at least one layer of suitable material, in a plurality of separate points, of a suitable type of glue and the application to said face of another layer of material equal to or different from the first so as to glue the two layers in said points.
With the help of the attached figures, of which Figure 1 schematically shows a step of making a two-layer sheet and Figure 2 of a three-layer sheet, an embodiment of the invention will now be better illustrated.
The layers of material constituting the sheet can be unwound from rolls. The glue is applied to at least one of the layers, for example by means of rollers having reliefs corresponding to the gluing points. Glue can be applied to the roller so that the reliefs are wet, in a substantially known way, with techniques similar to those adopted to apply a continuous layer of glue, with the difference that the presence of the reliefs will allow application to the layer only in correspondence with them. The glue application technique will therefore be similar to the rotary printing techniques, obviously with the appropriate modifications required by the fact that the material to be applied has different characteristics.
With reference to Figure 1, the layers 1 and 2, of suitable material, are unwound from coils (not shown). On at least one of the layers 1 the glue is applied (phase not shown) in a series of points 3, on the side intended to come into contact with the other layer. Layers 1 and 2 are then superimposed and pressed appropriately against each other to achieve adhesion at the gluing points, for example by means of rollers. The sheet thus obtained can be rewound in another reel or be cut directly into portions of suitable dimensions. Figure 2 schematically represents a step in the production of a three-layer sheet 10, 11 and 12. In this case the glue is applied on two layers, 10 and 12, while the third layer 11 is interposed between the other two. It is also possible to apply glue on two adjacent layers, or even apply glue on both sides of one layer. This and other embodiments can easily be developed by a person skilled in the art.
Drop tests were carried out on bags made with a sheet according to the present invention filled with powdery material. It has been found that the breaking strength is significantly better than single-layer materials of the same thickness, with a significantly lower number of sack breaks under the same conditions, in different fall situations.
The sheet made according to the present invention can be used to wrap objects to be packaged. According to a preferred aspect, it can be used for making bags, sacks, envelopes and the like. These products, when made with the sheet described above, constitute a particular aspect of the present invention.
As usual, these products can be made by joining several sheets by the edges, or by folding a suitably cut sheet on itself in an appropriate manner, and joining the edges. The joining of the edges can take place in a known way, for example by applying glue, heat sealing in the case of plastic material, stitching.
