METODO PER LA REALIZZAZIONE DI UN CONTENITORE METHOD FOR MAKING A CONTAINER
- ESPOSITORE PER ALIMENTI E CONTENITORE - E-SPOSITORE COSI' OTTENUTO. - FOOD DISPLAY AND CONTAINER - E-SPOSITOR SO OBTAINED.
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a container - display unit for food and the container - display unit thus obtained.
Currently, the use of containers (also acting as real trays - displays) for the display and sale of food products, such as meat, vegetables, fruit, sweets, etc., in shops and shopping centers is very wide. .
These containers allow, in fact, the definition of a product package enclosed, in most cases, in a protected environment (thanks to the use, usually, of a plastic covering film), possibly already weighed and provided with the selling price.
La realizzazione di tali contenitori ha, finora, seguito due diverse filosofie: The realization of these containers has, so far, followed two different philosophies:
- la prima di queste consiste nel realizzare il contenitore in corpo unico ed in materiale plastico, generalmente polistirolo antiurto o polistirolo espanso, attraverso un procedimento di iniezione in stampi; - the first of these consists in making the container in a single body and in plastic material, generally shockproof polystyrene or expanded polystyrene, through a process of injection into molds;
- the second of these philosophies involves making the container in paper material, preferably in pure cellulose, deriving it from sheets of cardboard, paper or cardboard with different weights - thickness and in single or multi-layer according to the needs of the product to be contained.
In the single-layer container solution, a plastic coating (such as the well-known PET or PE) can be added in correspondence with the internal surface of the container, which acts as a protective barrier for the product against fats, liquids and, in part of the gases, so as not to damage the structure of the underlying cellulose.
However, these containers have an inherent lack of overall rigidity due to the construction material and the manufacturing process, which is accentuated when they receive the product in large quantities and are picked up and transported or otherwise handled. This drawback is generated, in particular, by the junction areas or corners of the containers, which are often made through a real "crumpling" of the material around the area: the latter type of construction ensures that the full and removed container tends to open outwards at the corners, or in any case has difficulty in maintaining its configuration intact, due to a lack of mechanical strength which is concentrated in particular precisely in correspondence with the upper edge of the container itself.
To obviate this drawback, the same Applicant has made (see patent EP 1.365.964) a container for food comprising, among other things, an edge which develops without interruption to form a closed surface defining the upper perimeter of the container; on this edge a reinforcing element can be associated, divided into a first part that can be stably associated with a portion of the edge close to its connection with the walls, and in a second part that can be associated with a portion of the walls close to the edge; these two parts of the reinforcement element have a development partially covering the edge and the walls so as to define an additional surface or layer capable of allowing a stiffening of the edge - wall area. This solution, therefore, allows a decisive increase in the rigidity of the cellulose container with excellent results for the containment of products of various kinds, and in particular for products protected in a controlled environment.
This solution, however, precisely due to its constructional characteristics, can present a drawback due to its relatively high unit cost compared above all to products of large consumption and rapid perishability, usually produced in large numbers in the unit of time. This high cost is caused both by the presence of an additional cellulose element compared to the traditional container, and by the methodology and equipment for its realization: the phases and the relative operating stations, in fact, generally require a mold to create the base container. , a mold to obtain the reinforcement ring and a station for joining the two elements.
For this reason, therefore, this type of container is usually used to contain products of a certain quality and type whose production can amortize or justify its cost.
The aim of the present invention is therefore to obviate these drawbacks by providing a method for producing a container for food with high mechanical characteristics and with reduced unit costs, and the relative container thus obtained.
According to the present invention there is provided a method for manufacturing a container with high rigidity and with low unit costs and the relative container thus obtained and comprising the technical characteristics set out in one or more of the appended claims.
The technical characteristics of the invention, according to the aforementioned purposes, are clearly verifiable from the content of the claims reported below, and the advantages thereof will become more evident in the detailed description that follows, made with reference to the attached drawings, which represent a purely embodiment exemplary and not limiting, in which:

Figure 9 illustrates the container of the preceding figures in an alternative embodiment configuration and in a perspective view; Figure 10 illustrates a further variant embodiment of the edge of the container according to the present invention, in a schematic detail in lateral section.
In accordance with the accompanying drawings, and with particular reference to Figures 1 and 2, the method in question allows the production of a cellulose container for containing food.
This container, indicated in its entirety with 1, is defined by an envelope comprising, in its essential parts, a flat bottom 2 and a series of walls 3 substantially perpendicular to the flat bottom 2 and connected, at the bottom, to the same bottom 2 to define a cavity C for housing the product.
La metodologia per ottenere questo tipo di contenitore 1 , comprende le seguenti fasi (vedi figure da 3 a 5): The conformation of the container 1, here of the quadrangular type, can be of any shape without thereby limiting the solution in question. The aforementioned walls 3 define, at the top, an upper edge 4, developing continuously along the contour of the same container 1. The methodology for obtaining this type of container 1 comprises the following steps (see Figures 3 to 5):
- definizione, tramite appositi mezzi 6 di stampo (illustrati in linea discontinua), del fondo piano 2, della serie di pareti 3 e del bordo 4 del contenitore 1 e con contemporanea definizione, in corrispondenza dell’estremità esterna del bordo 4, di una appendice 5 libera su almeno una parte del perimetro del bordo 4 (vedi figura 3); - definition, by means of special mold means 6 (shown in a discontinuous line), of the flat bottom 2, of the series of walls 3 and of the edge 4 of the container 1 and with simultaneous definition, at the external end of the edge 4, of a appendix 5 free on at least a part of the perimeter of the edge 4 (see figure 3);
- piegatura dell'appendice 5 verso una superficie 4a, 4c del bordo 4 (vedi figure 5 e 10); - folding of the appendix 5 towards a surface 4a, 4c of the edge 4 (see figures 5 and 10);
- stable union of the appendix 5 on the edge 4 to define a further thickness of the edge 4 and thus to obtain an annular reinforcement of the edge 4 itself.
As clearly visible in figures 1 and 2, preferably but not limitedly, the appendix 5 extends along the entire perimeter of the edge 4. Observing figures 5 to 8, the folding phase can determine the overlapping of the appendix 5 on the surface top 4a of edge 4.
Alternatively, this folding step can cause the appendix 5 to overlap on the lower surface 4c of the edge 4 (see Figure 10).
As can be seen in figure 3, the aforementioned appendix 5, in correspondence with the definition phase of the container 1, can be arranged transversely (or perpendicularly) with respect to the edge 4. Alternatively, (see also figure 10) the appendix 5, again in corresponding to the phase of definition of the container 1, it can be arranged inclined or coplanar with respect to the edge 4.
Preferably, but not limitedly, prior to the bending step, a pre - bending line L (clearly visible in figure 10) can be made between the aforementioned appendix 5 and the outer end of the edge 4, so as to facilitate the same step. folding of the appendix 5 towards the edge 4 (see arrows F5 and F5a).
This step of folding the appendix 5 onto the edge 4 can take place mechanically by means of relative thrusting means 7 schematically indicated in figure 5.
The aforementioned step of joining the appendix 5 on the edge 4 can take place by heat sealing (see figure 5 with welder 50), or by means of a suitable glue distributed by relative means 8 (see figure 4), prior to the folding step.
According to what is illustrated in figures 6 and 7, the aforementioned folding step of the appendix 5 can generate a perimeter enlargement 9, in correspondence with the aforementioned pre - folding line L between the edge 4 and the appendix 5 itself: in this way it is possible obtain a considerable reinforcement on the outside combined with the definition of a gripping area of the container 1.
In addition to this, it is possible to define a further deformation phase of the common external zone ZE of the edge 4 and of the appendix 5 capable of generating a protrusion of the same elements 4 and 5 downwards (see dashed line in figure 8): this deformation external perimeter allows an increase in the rigidity of the container 1 and an engagement area for a possible covering of the same container 1 with a plastic film.
Figures 6, 7 and 8 show three different final configurations of the appendix 5 superimposed, for example, on the upper surface 4a, but this also applies if the appendix 5 is folded and superimposed on the lower surface 4c.
In figure 6 the appendix 5 can have a development S3 equal to the development S of the edge 4, and its consequent folding occurs on the entire upper surface 4a of the edge 4.
In figure 7 the appendix 5 can have a development S1 greater than the development S of the edge 4, and its consequent folding occurs both on the upper surface 4a of the edge 4 and on an upper portion of the walls 3.
In figure 8 the appendix 5 can have a development S2 that is lower than the development of the edge 4 and its consequent folding takes place on a portion of the upper surface 4a of the edge 4, in such a way as to leave the other portion of the upper surface free from overlapping. 4a of the edge 4 connected to the upper part of the walls 3 (for example for possible positioning of covering elements).
As already mentioned previously, we talked about the appendix 5 which can be arranged on part or on the entire perimeter of the edge 4. In figure 9, for example, two different solutions are shown in which the appendix 5 develops only partially: the first foresees the appendix 5, in a continuous line, present, for example, on straight sections of the edge 4, while in a discontinuous section another solution is visible in which the appendix 5 is interrupted near the angle of junction of the border 4.
Figures 1 and 2 also show pre-folds 5a of the appendix 5 (which can be made, for example, during the molding phase) in order to allow a faster and safer folding of the appendix itself. Therefore, the container - display 1 for food that can be produced with this method comprises the edge 4 consisting of two sections 4b and 5 of a single element and defined by a first section 4b and an appendix or second section 5 joined together, and with the second section section 5 folded over the first section 4b, so as to define a thickness of the edge 4 such as to allow annular reinforcement of the edge 4 itself.
At the level of arrangement, the first section 4b is interposed between the aforementioned walls 3 and the second section 5.
As already mentioned in the method, the second section 5 can be folded, ie superimposed, on the upper surface 4a or on the lower surface 4c of the first section 4b.
In addition to this, the edge 4 of the container can have an external zone, constituted by the folding of the second portion 5, defining a perimeter enlargement 9 common to both of the aforementioned 4b and 5.
This common external zone ZE of the first and second stretches 4b and 5 can define a perimeter protrusion inclined downwards.
Still referring to figures 6, 7 and 8, the edge 4 can have three different configurations depending on the extension of the appendix 5.
In figure 6 the appendix 5 can have a development S3 equal to the development S of the edge 4, and its consequent folding occurs on the entire upper or lower surface 4a or 4c of the edge 4.
In figure 7 the appendix 5 can have a development S1 greater than the development S of the edge 4, and its consequent folding occurs both on the upper or lower surface 4a or 4c of the edge 4 and on an upper portion of the walls 3.
In figure 8 the appendix 5 can have a development S2 that is lower than the development of the edge 4 and its consequent folding takes place on a portion of the upper or lower surface 4a or 4c of the edge 4, in such a way as to leave the other free from overlapping portion of the upper surface 4a of the edge 4 connected to the upper part of the walls 3 (for example for possible positioning of covering elements if involved it is the upper surface 4a).
An embodiment method thus prepared therefore allows to realize a container which achieves the predetermined purposes.
This is achieved by reducing the costs of the production line deriving from the fact that, compared to the production of food containers with the same resistance characteristics, this method requires a smaller presence of operating stations and, above all, less cellulose material to obtain, however, similar mechanical characteristics. The invention thus conceived is susceptible of evident industrial application; it can also be subject to numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the inventive concept; all the details can also be replaced by technically equivalent elements.
