Gli occhiali a montatura rigida sono di vario tipo a seconda dei gradi di libertà che hanno le sue componenti e tra i tanti possiamo citare: un primo provvisto di montatura rigida monoblocco non ripiegabile; un secondo provvisto di montatura richiudibile per mezzo dei vincoli presenti in corrispondenza dei punti di unione delle aste con il frontale; un terzo provvisto di ulteriore vincolo a cavallo tra le due lenti del frontale che ne consente la ripiegatura. Tra i molti accessori già presenti in commercio si ricordano i cordini per il mantenimento sospeso al collo, i ganci a fondo asta per il fermo all’orecchio e molti altri. Ognuno di questi accessori si integra con l’occhiale indipendentemente dalla sua configurazione, aperta o ripiegata, ma nessuno di essi esercita una funzione di blocco di una configurazione rispetto all’altra.
