Abstract

The network node has devices which process the received frame and produce, according to the special requirement, frames with a homogeneous payload and hybrid payload distributed in a flexible manner. The network node has a control and maintenance block (48) to optimize the flexible hybrid payloads, so as to reserve a part of the loads, having variable dimension, for a determined protocol like LAN, IP, ATM, PDH, STM-N, WDM I/F. Optical channel matrix block (12) handles signals at higher levels. Input/output blocks (14,20,26,42,44,46) handle various signals such as PDH signals, ATM, IP and LAN signals. Blocks (18,24) handle low level signals. Block (30) has switching device for ATM cells and IP packets and performs router functions. Adaptation blocks (16,22,28,32,34,36,38) adapt various low level, high level and other signals. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) Signal processing method in telecommunication network node; (b) Telecommunication signal frame; (c) Telecommunication network.
