Abstract
The model finds application in tube factories, for the cutting of stainless steel tubes, which are presently being cut with traditional tools that are slow, easily worn out, and no longer compatible with the high processing speeds that can be achieved by the new welding (laser) technologies. This system of cutting with a Nd-YAG laser in fibre optics proposes to solve the problem of the cutting speed in that it is possible to achieve much higher speeds and a process duration much greater than the above-mentioned tools. This multiple-access system calls for the use of a vice and the whole is installed on a carriage, when the tube emerging from the profile passes through the system the cutting sequence provides for: closing of the vice, movement of the carriage in synchronisation with the speed of the tube, interlocking of the axis normal to the tube where the laser beam focusing head is mounted, commencement of the cutting. The cutting occurs by rotating the axis, turning at controlled velocity, through an angle greater than 360 degrees, releasing of the normal axis, reverse rotation of the rotary axis, unlocking of the vice, and return to the starting point of the carriage. <IMAGE>
