Abstract

A description is given of a casing for tyres, incorporating, in each sidewall, a first and a second reinforcing insert of essentially lenticular section which becomes thinner at the ends, interposed between a first and a second casing ply and joined together at the point of the maximum chord of the tyre. An elastic supporting insert of lenticular section, having its portion of maximum thickness located at the joint between the two reinforcing inserts, is also applied to each sidewall. The elastic supporting insert comprises an essentially rigid opposing core, of lenticular section, and a shell made from elastomeric material with a low modulus of elasticity, which covers the opposing core on its side facing the casing plies. <IMAGE>
