Abstract

A process is described in which a laminated sheet comprising an upper sheet of glass, a lower sheet of glass and an intermediate sheet of plastics material is cut along a predetermined cutting line by first making an incision in the two sheets by passing corresponding disc blades over them at a predetermined pressure moving simultaneously in a first direction along the cutting line, passing a thrust roller along the upper sheet at a second predetermined pressure in a direction opposite to the former so as to cause the upper sheet to break off, obliquely lifting a first portion of the laminated sheet which lies on one side of the cutting line with respect to a second portion of the same which lies on the other side of the cutting line so as to cut off the upper sheet, immobilizing the two portions of laminated sheet between corresponding stop members which act together with the upper sheet and corresponding supporting tables which act together with the lower sheet, and localized heating along the cutting line of the intermediate sheet with subsequent application of a thrust to the first portion of the laminated sheet directly transversely to the cutting line and from the opposite part to the second portion in such a way as to cause the intermediate sheet to be cut off.
