Abstract

The tensioner has a single main housing complete with mounting bracket (11). A blind hole locates the support shaft for the pressure pad (20), with the shaft and hole profiled to prevent the shaft rotating. A ratchet (211) cut along one side of the shaft is gripped by a sprung catch (4) to lock the tensioner setting. The tensioner has a shaped elastic pad (20b) to rub over the chain. A spring inside the blind hole pushes the tensioner against the chain. As the pad wears the spring pushes the shaft further, and the ratchet drops into the next slot.
