Abstract
3-(Polyhaloalkenyl)-2,2-dimethyl- Cyclopropanecarboxylic acids and esters of formula (I) are new. In (I) R is OH, 1-4C alkoxy, halogen or (m-PhOC6H4)-CHR5-O; R5 is H, CN or ethynyl; R1 is F, Cl, Br, Me or CF3; R2 is F, Cl, Br or CF3; R3 is H, F, Cl, Br or CF3; R4 is H, F, Cl, Br or CF3; or R2 and R3 together form a third bond between the C atoms to which they are attached. Cpds. (I) in which R is (m-PhOC6H4)-CHR5-O are insecticides and acaricides with high activity and good persistence. The other cpds. (I) and (II)-(V) are intermediates in their prepn. 26 cpds. (I), including the alpha-cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl and 3-phenoxybenzyl esters of 3-(4',4'-dichlorobutadienyl)- and 3-(4',4'-dichloro-2'-bromobutadienyl)-2,2-dimethyl- cyclopropanecarboxylates are specifically claimed.
