Abstract

Cable has one or more conductors insulated individually by alumina-silica ceramic tape, which may be applied helically in contiguous turns or longitudinally in one or more layers. The insulated conductors are pref. enclosed in an air-tight tube formed by Cu, Cu alloy, Al or Al alloy tape wrapped around the conductors and welded. The tube may be corrugated and there may be an armouring of optionally galvanised steel wire or tape to protect against mechanical damage. The insulation initially softens at 1600 degrees C and melts at 2200 degrees C.
