Abstract

The damping device has energy absorbing material between two components moving relative to each other. One of the above movable components (5) is connected to a bracket (21) with a slipper (20) at its free end. The bracket is very rigid both in its longitudinal direction and in the main axis plane perpendicular to the record (18) surface. It is, however, quite yielding in a main axis plane transversal to the bracket (20) and parallel to the record (18) surface. The slipper pad (23) at the bracket (21) free end, resting on the record surface, extends transversally to the bracket (21) and is rigid in the direction transversally to the bracket (21) and is rigid in the direction tangential to the record grooves. The bracket system (21, 23) yields to torsional loads, so that an inner end of the slipper pad (23) applies only a small force to the bracket (21) point of support, when the pad runs over an elevation on the record.
