Abstract

The chair (10) has a backrest (16) movable relative to a seat (12) from an erect position to a partially reclined position. The backrest is formed by a series of at least three superimposed segments (18,22,20), which are pivotally connected about respective horizontal axes. In the partially reclined position of the backrest, the segments define an arcuate configuration with a curve corresponding to that of the arched back of a user. A resilient return member (32,34,36) resists the movement of the segments towards the position corresponding to the partially reclined position of the backrest.
