Claims (21)

1. A process for the conditioning of fibres or other particles prior to their suspension in a liquid bath for the manufacture of a continuous web of non-woven textile,. or paper, wherein, during a first period of time, the fibres or particles are finely dispersed in a gaseous fluid, during a socond period of time the thus dispersed fibres or particles are deposited in the form of a sheet on a movable support which enters a liquid bath for the wetting of the sheet of fibres or particles carried with the support, and during a third period of time the wet sheet of fibres or particles Is detached from the support and the thus wetted fibres or particles are suspended in a liquid bath for the manufacture of a web.
2. A process according to Claim 1, wherein the fibres OF particles are dispersed mechanically and directly deposited on the movable support,
3. A process according to Claim 1, wherein the fibres or particles are dispersed mechanically and taken up by a stream of gas to bo transported to the movable support.
4. A process according to Claim 5, wherein the fibres or particles, along their path of travel in the gas stream, are submitted to auxiliary treatments and/or to the addition of additives.
5. process acoording to Claim 1, wherein the wetting of the fibres or particles is effected by passing a stream of liquid under pressure through the sheet of fibres or particles oarried by the support, during the passage of the latter through the wetting bath.
6. Δ process according to Claim 1, wherein the fibres or particleo, after being detached from the support, are stored in the form of a highly concentrated suspension, adapted for later dilution for the manufacture of a *eb.
7. « A process according to Claim 1, wherein the fibres or particles are detached from the movable support by a stream of liquid, traversing the permeable support from the interior outwardly, the fibres or particles together with the liquid used for detaching thorn, forming the suspension adapted for the manufacture of a web.
8. A process according to Claim 7, wherein the fibres or particles are maintained on the support during a first part of ita passage through the bath, and are detached from the support and extracted, during a second part of its passage through the bath, by means of a, liquid stream,
9. A process according to any one of Claims 1 to 5, wherein the liquid in the wetting bath contains in suspension other fibres or particles capable of adding to the sheet of fibres or particles already formed on the movable support, during the passage of said support through the, wetting bath.
10. A process for the conditioning of fibres or other particles according to any one of Claims 1 to 9, substantially as herein described.
11. , Apparatus for the conditioning of fibres destined to be suspended in a feed-liquid for a machine for manufacturing a continuous web of non-woven textile: or paper by filtration of said feed-liquid, which apparatus comprises at least one feed hopper for fibres, provided at its ond with a device for d flocculating the fibres and for dry-dispersing them in a gaseous fluid; a movable support consisting of at least one permeable endless belt; means for depositing the dispersed fibres in the form of a sheet on the movable support; at least one container for the wetting liquid, into which the movable support penetrates during one part of its path of movement, after the sheet of fibres is deposited thereon; and mea s for detaching the sheet of fibres from the support after the shee and the support have left the wetting bath, and for discharging the wetted fibres into a suspension-eed conduit of the web-inanufacturing machine.
12. Apparatus according to Claim 11, which comprieos a connecting conduit between the base of the hopper and the movable support, this conduit being traversed by a stream of gas serving to take the fibres up at the exit of the hopper and to transport them to the movable support.
