Abstract

At least one sensor strip is mounted at 90 deg to the transport direction of the fibre material and consists several CMOS or CCD elements. Each element features at least 20 pixels. Three sensor strips can be mounted in a racked arrangement and connected to a joint evaluation system.

Description

SENSOR LINE SENSOR LINE In the textile industry, line cameras are used to detect foreign particles in fiber flock streams or to recognize errors such as holes, slubs, and color deviations on fabric webs. In the known applications, one or more line cameras are used which inspect over the width at approximately 90° to the transportation direction.
The large distance between the camera and the material to be inspected, which is determined by the optics, is disadvantageous in this regard.
Soiling occurs in the space in between. The distance leads to a large mechanical engineering outlay, and the alignment of the cameras is difficult. The object of the present invention is to provide a system which allows detection with significantly lower outlay for mechanical engineering and higher reliability. According to the present invention, this is achieved by using very long CCD or CMOS sensor strips (e.g. Toshiba) which are positioned directly over the width to be inspected.
The sensors are protected by one or more glass disks from the textile material. The glass disk closest to the textile material is automatically cleaned by the textile material itself. The sensors may be affixed directly to the glass disk; the danger of soiling disappears and the machines may be designed much more compactly.
The sensor lines have a very large number of sensor points, so that a resolution of approximately 1/10 millimeter may be achieved and the electrical installation outlay remains low.
It is not necessary, as is commonly assumed, for the textile material to be inspected in a continuous line.
Fig. 1 schematically shows a system.
A fiber material, e.g. of web made a textile fibers, moves under sensor lines which extend over the width of the web. The sensor lines are positioned offset, since the CCD or CMOS elements at the beginning and end are not equipped with photo elements; in this way, the entire web may be inspected completely. The sensor lines are connected with a joint evaluation computer.
