Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new probe capable of distinguishing a target nucleotide sequence of a target nonviral organism (group) from a nontarget nucleotide sequence of nontarget nonviral organism (group), and usable for detection or the like of the target nonviral organism in a test specimen. SOLUTION: This probe is a hybridization assay probe for distinguishing a target nucleotide sequence of a target nonviral organism or organism group from a nontarget nucleotide sequence of a nontarget nonviral organism or organism group. The probe has a base sequence of formula I or a complementary sequence when the target organism is Mycobacterium avium, a base sequence of formula II or a complementary sequence when the target organism is Mycobacterium intracellulare, or the like. The probe can form a detectable hybrid with a nucleotide sequence present in a nucleic acid from the target organism (group) under a hybridization condition, and the target organism (group) can be specifically detected by detecting the formed hybrid.
