Abstract

abstract A process for separating components of a feed mixture comprising a ketose and an aldose which process comprises contacting the mixture at adsorption conditions with an adsorbent comprising a crystalline aluminosilicate selected from the X and Y zeolites and containing one or more selected cations at the exchangeable cationic sites, thereby selectively adsorbing one of said components and thereafter recovering the same. Preferably the adsorbed component will be recovered by contacting the adsorbent with a desorbent material. [CA1151644A]
