Abstract

To solve the technical problem of simplifying the making and laying of mixed reinforced concrete floors with a saving in interposed brick elements, a composite joist is provided which consists of a profiled tube of rectangular section (1) provided with internal diagonally-positioned stiffening elements (2), and of a leaktight joint which is also profiled with a rectangular section (3), fixing means being provided for joining the profiled tube (1) to the joint (3), the said profiled tube (1) and the said joint (3) consisting of a drawn plastic material.

Description

This invention relates to thermoplastics resin extrudates for use in a construction of composite reinforced concrete floors.
One method which is widely used at present for assembling floors is at involving lintel floor fabrications. For this purpose, prefabricated ists which are lightened by hollow clay tiles are employed. More specifically, is type of floor is built by arranging an array of the prefabricated joists and ghtened filling members of fired clay on a supporting structure. Reinforcing nbers are then laid, and concrete is poured onto the assembly thus formed until reaches the desired level on which, for example, floor tiles are to be laid.
According to the present invention, there is provided a hollow trudate of a thermoplastic plastics material, the extrudate having a planar ;e wall, two side walls adjacent to the base wall and inclined thereto at an jle of less than 90°, a top wall connecting the two side walls, and bracing ibers integral with the remainder of the extrudate inclined to the base wal1 • bracing said top wall against said base wall.
An extrudate of the invention may be used in the production of a iposite reinforced concrete floor simultaneously to fulfill the functions of a t boxing, a lightening joist, and a false ceiling. Extrudates of the invention - 2 43145 may also conveniently be transported and laid owing to their light weight. In addition, there is no need for moulds to be used during the casting process, and the number of props used to support the floor during construction may be reduced.
Preferably, the extrudate has a cross-section corresponding substantially to a trapezium. Projecting spacing means may be provided on the exterior of each said side wall of the extrudate, the spacing means being integral and coextruded with the side walls.
In addition the base wall of the extrudate may extend beyond the side walls in the form of projecting flanges on which are formed hook-sectioned portions directed towards side walls thereadjacent.
A plurality of extrudates of the invention in spaced apart parallel relationship may be used in the construction of concrete reinforced floors. Preferably, each adjacent pair of extrudates is connected to a common connecting member by means cf the hook-sectioned portions. The soffit of a floor formed in this manner has a satisfactory finish in that the plane formed by the mutually inter-locking extrudates has a similar appearance to that of most known false ceilings. In addition, it is possible to conceal pipes in the soffit and also to form therein seating for, for example, embedded lights, air conditioning and ventilation openings.
Furthermore, extrudates of the invention may easily be cut to size and thus floors of non standard size can be formed.
For a better understanding of the present invention, and to show how the same may be carried into effect, reference will now be made, by way of example, to the accompanying drawings in which:Figure 1 shows an overall yiew of a floor constructed using extrudates of the present invention; Figure 2 shows a cross-section through a preferred form of extrudate of the invention; Figure 3 shows a cross-section through a connecting member used to connect two extrudates of the present invention; and - 3 Figure 4 shqws the connecting member of Figure 3 in position adjacent part »f an extrudate of the invention.
In Figure 1 there is shown a composite reinforced concrete floor omprising a plurality of extrudates 1 of the invention shown in spaced apart arallel relationship, the extrudates being connected by connecting members which esult in spaces remaining between the extrudates 1 so as to form a mould for asting reinforced concrete joists. Supporting props 4 for the floor are also hown. The extrudates 1 are, as shown from the end perspective view additionally rovided with bracing members 2 integral with the remainder of the extrudates and nclined to base walls thereof for bracing top walls thereof against the base walls.
In Figure 2 there is shown a cross-section through an extrudate of the ivention, the extrudate being provided with spacers 5 which project from the Figure 3 shows a longitudinal section through a common connecting member 3 signed to connect parallel parts of extrudates. This connecting member is rmed with hook-shaped portions 8 designed to engage with the hook-sectioned rtions 7 on the extrudate.
Figure 4 shows one end of the connecting member of Figure 3 in position jacent to and engaged with the portion 7 of an extrudate 1.
