1460328 Aluminium hydroxy chlorides RHONE-PROGIL SA 15 Oct 1974 [16 Oct 1973 26 June 1974 2 July 1974] 44617/74 Heading C1A Aluminium hydroxy chlorides of the general formula wherein x is the average number of hydroxyl groups, are prepared by reacting an active alumina, resulting from partial dehydration of a hydrate of alumina, with a solution of hydrochloric acid and/or an aluminium chloride (defined to include oxy- or hydroxychloride or chloroaluminate). The active alumina preferably has a surface area of at least 200 m.<SP>2</SP>/g. and is derived from hydrargillite or an alumina gel by treatment with a stream of hot gas. Modifying additives, e.g. acid radical, alkali or alkaline earth metal ions, may be present. [GB1460328A]
