Abstract

1378991 Bale sledge GASCOIGNE GUSH & DENT (AGRICULTURAL) Ltd and L E H BROWN 6 June 1973 [13 June 1972] 27625/72 Heading B5F A bale sledge comprises four side-by-side longitudinally extending channels 22-25 each of a size to receive two bales end to end, diverting means 28, 41, 43 to divert bales into the channels, and a gate 15 to release eight bales from the sledge. The diverter 28 is mounted on a shaft 26a for oscillation between stops 29 and 30 and presents one or other of its side loops 33, 34 upwardly. The diverter is swung when a bale coming from a baler falls on the uppermost side loop causing the bale to fall on that side of the baler and for the other side loop to become uppermost. When a second bale fills an outerside channel 22 or 25, it actuates a lever 44 or 38 to swing a gate 43 or 41 over so that the inner channel 23 or 24 on that side is filled. The bales filling the inner channels actuate levers 45, 50 to release a catch 53 holding the gate 15 closed. Castored wheels 66 may be mounted at a low or high position outwardly of the sledge, or within the outer channels for road transport. Adjustable coupling rods connect the sledge to the bales so that the central line of the sledge is behind the axis of either the baler or the baling chamber. [GB1378991A]
