Abstract

Antibacterial therapeutic compositions, particularly useful in the treatment of mammary disorders especially bovine mastitis, comprise (A) α-carboxybenzylpenicillin or α-carboxy-3- thienylmethylpenicillin or non-toxic salts thereof and (B) 2, 6-dimethoxyphenylpenicillin, 3-(2, 6-dichlorophenyl) -5- methyl -4- isoxazolylpenicillin or 3-(2-chloro-6-fluorophenyl)-5-methyl-4- isoxazolylpenicillin or non-toxic salts thereof, the components (A) and (B) being present in the weight ratio of 9:1 to 1:9 preferably 1:1. Specified salts include Na, K, Ca, Al, ammonium, triethylamine, procaine, dibenzylamine, N-benzyl-beta-phenethylamine, 1-ephenamine, N, N'-dibenzylethylenediamine, dehydroabietylamine, and N, N'-bis-dehydroabiethylethylenediamine.
